Chapter 53: Chapter 52

Raiden glanced at Hiro, smiling at the way Hiro was angrily pouting. He looked so cute that he wanted to kiss him again. "Don’t worry about Saika." He said. "Your brother is surely with her right now and I got a whole team of nurses looking after her. She’s fine."

Still, Hiro wanted to see her. "Where are we going then? And how long are we going to take?"

"We’re going shopping." Raiden replied. "You’re going be with me for a year, Hiro. As my partner. Although you look adorable in my clothes-" He glanced down at Hiro’s body which was clad in his clothes. "You can’t wear them forever. And I can’t let you wear those rags you call clothes either."

"Then, can’t we go after I see her? I just want to know how she’s doing." Hiro whined.

At that, Raiden took out his phone and dialed a number then handed it to Hiro. "I’m calling the head nurse. Tell her you want to speak to Saika. Which reminds me, I have to get you a phone too."

Hiro collected the phone, surprised at Raiden’s thoughtfulness. He saw that it was a video call which meant he’d even be able to see his sister.

The head nurse picked the call and greeted. "Good morning, Mr Yamato." She then saw that it was Hiro and smiled. "Ah, Mr Watanabe, good morning. Sorry, I thought it was Mr Yamato."

Hiro chuckled. "Good morning. That’s okay. I just wanted to know how my sister is doing."

"Oh your sister is wonderful, Mr Watanabe." The head nurse laughed. "She’s right here. Would you like to speak to her?"

"Yes please."

After a brief moment, Hiro’s face lit up with joy as he saw his sister appear on the screen. "Sister! How are you? Are you okay? How are you feeling?" His voice brimmed with concern as he bombarded her with questions, his worry pouring out like a rushing river.

Saika’s laughter filled the room as she listened to Hiro’s rapid-fire inquiries, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Calm down peanut. I’m fine." She chuckled. "The nurses here are taking very good care of me. I’ve had breakfast and I’ve taken my medication. You don’t need to worry."

Hiro was so relieved and happy that his eyes brimmed with tears. To think that some days ago, he world was crumbling because he thought his sister was going to die. He felt so grateful that he could see her laughing and smiling. "I’m glad." He said, wiping tears from the corners of his eyes.

Raiden glanced at him, his heart melting at the sight. He sighed. Hiro was so soft hearted.

Saika noticed that Hiro was crying. "Awww peanut, don’t cry." She said. "You’re gonna make me cry too."

"I’m sorry." Hiro sniffled. "I just can’t help it. I’m really glad you’re alright."

"You cry like a little girl." Sora teased, joining Saika on the screen. "When are you gonna grow up?"

"Oh leave him alone." Saika said, lightly smacking Sora on the head to which he just laughed.

"Hey Hiro, are you guys on your way here? I’d like to talk to you about something." Sora said. He could see that Hiro was in a car.

Hiro subtly glanced at Raiden who was focused on the road then gazed back at the screen. "Well, we’re going somewhere right now but we’ll be there soon. What do you want to talk about?"

"Don’t worry. We’ll talk about it when you get here okay?" Sora said and Hiro nodded.

"When are you going to come? Are you coming with Mr Yamato?" Saika asked, her eyes lighting up with hope.

Hiro didn’t miss it and he glanced at Raiden again. "When are we going?"

"After lunch." Raiden replied.

"We’ll be there after lunch." He relayed, shifting his gaze back to the screen. "Is there something you want?"

Saika giggled mischievously. "No, just make sure you come with your handsome boss, okay?"

Hiro felt a knot form in his chest at Saika’s teasing remark. He didn’t know why but it was uncomfortable for him to think about his sister showing interest in Raiden. Part of him wanted to deflect her request, to tell her that Raiden wouldn’t be accompanying him, and to fabricate an excuse in his place.

However, he hesitated, feeling it would be improper to deceive her in such a manner. Instead, he simply agreed with a forced smile. "We’ll be there."

With that, Hiro bid Saika farewell and ended the call before handing Raiden back his phone.

"Thank you," Hiro expressed to Raiden, a deep sense of gratitude welling within him. He knew that if it weren’t for Raiden’s help, his sister wouldn’t be alive today. His heart was filled with a sense of comfort and relief, knowing that his sister was safe and sound.

"You’re welcome and, we’ve arrived," Raiden announced as he steered the car into the expansive parking lot of the biggest mall in the city.

Hiro’s eyes widened in awe as he took in the sight before him, the largest and most renowned shopping center in Japan. The sprawling complex stretched upward into the sky, its sleek facade gleaming in the sunlight, a testament to modern architectural marvels.

Hiro couldn’t recall the last time he had visited a mall of this magnitude, and he couldn’t help but marvel at the grandeur of the structure before him. Whatever he wanted was always given to him by his parents and siblings or friends. He never felt the need to out and buy stuff. Now being in the mall with Raiden, he felt a little excited.

Raiden parked then swiftly exited the vehicle, his movements graceful and purposeful. With a gentle smile, he opened the door for Hiro, extending a hand to assist him out of the car.

"Allow me," Raiden murmured softly, his voice carrying a warmth that enveloped Hiro like a comforting embrace.

Hiro couldn’t help but blush at Raiden’s kind gesture. Opening the door for him made him feel like some sort of princess. Yet, he did not complain. He couldn’t remember the last time he was treated so nicely. His rich life with his family all seemed like a blur in his mind even though it had only been four years.

Well, him feeling that way was understadable for those four years were full of extreme pain, starvation, and suffering.

Gratefully accepting Raiden’s hand, Hiro emerged from the car, his heart fluttering with a mixture of excitement and gratitude.

Raiden closed the car door behind Hiro and intertwined their fingers as he stared into Hiro’s beautiful eyes.
