Chapter 38: Chapter 37

Raiden’s smokey grey eyes fixated possessively on Hiro, their depths hinting at a silent declaration of ownership.

As Hiro approached, he felt ensnared by the captivating storm in Raiden’s gaze, a potent blend of desire and command. He shivered slightly, not from the cold but from Raiden’s heated gaze. His heartbeat quickened and his body tingled, like a very low current of electricity was pulsing in his veins. His face and ears went crimson and his champange coloured eyes fell on Raiden’s neck. He couldn’t bring himself to look at Raiden’s eyes due to the intensity.

Since when did Raiden look at him like that? It made him feel as though the entire world had disappeared and it was just both of them left.

Stunning was the only word in Raiden’s mind. Absolutely stunning.

Hiro’s short, sandy brown locks framed his face with a casual charm, barely covering half his ears. The morning sunlight played upon his champagne-colored eyes, imbuing them with a unique radiance that had his heart racing. He didn’t wait for Hiro to walk to him. He met him halfway and took off his suit jacket, draping it over Hiro’s shoulders for he had noticed that Hiro was cold.

"Good morning" He said, fingers lightly grazing Hiro’s jaw.

Hiro stared wide eyed at Raiden, not expecting the kind gesture. "G-Good morning," He stuttered then cleared his throat. "What are you doing here?"

Raiden smiled. "I’m here to take you to the hospital. Your sister’s surgery starts in 30 minutes, doesn’t it?"

"Well, yes, but you didn’t have to come here." Hiro answered. Raiden did promise that he would take care of him and his needs but he didn’t think it would be to this extent. He felt slightly uncomfortable. "Don’t you have work today?"

"I’ve assigned someone to handle it. Don’t worry." Raiden replied, amused. "May I hold your hand?"

Sora, who wasn’t even acknowledged, heard Raiden’s question and cleared his throat, wanting to remind them that he was right there. "Hand holding isn’t required. Hiro is not a child. He can walk by himself."

Raiden turned to Sora, his eyes sharp. "I believe I asked Hiro, not you. You do not get to decide for him."

"You do not get to ask him such stupid questions either." Sora retorted, glaring at Raiden. "What are you? A baby? Do you need to hold my brother’s hand to walk?"

Raiden’s gaze held a steady intensity, a smirk adorning his lips as he responded, "As a matter of fact, I do. I need to hold his hand. I ask what I please, Sora, and Hiro can decide for himself. Now, may I?"

His question lingered in the air, a challenge wrapped in a hint of amusement as he held out his hand to Hiro.

Hiro glanced at his brother whose face had darkened due to anger, then he looked at Raiden who was smiling at him. He was still mad at his brother for everything and as for Raiden, Raiden had comforted him and has been nothing but nice to him. Raiden basically owned him but was still asking for permission to touch him. Little by little, he realised that his hatred and fear for Raiden was dissipating.

With that, he reached out and placed his hand in Raiden’s, letting out a shaky breath for he could feel his brother shooting glares at the side of his head.

A triumphant smile appeared on Raiden’s face as he held Hiro’s hand and led him to the car.

Han moved to open the door for them but Raiden blocked him with his body and opened the door for Hiro who looked at him with a mixture of confusion and surprise. He wondered why Raiden was being so nice to him. Was it to sleep with him sooner?

He sighed. That was probably it. Raiden had blatantly told him that he wanted to sleep with him already. He got into the car and Raiden entered after him.

As Raiden took his place in the back seat, he lowered the window and looked at the still fuming Sora. "Are you coming or not?"

Sora considered taking the bus but then remembered that his baby brother was in a car with a predator. He had to be there to protect him. With a scowl, he walked towards the car and turned around to the other side of the passenger seat. He pulled the handle but the door did not open.

"Open it" He said to Raiden.

Raiden smirked devilishly. Did Sora think he’d allow him to sit with them? "You’re with the driver, Sora. The back belongs to Hiro and I.

Sora chuckled dryly, thinking Raiden was just messing with him. "Look, just open the door."

Raiden just stared at him, not moving a muscle.

Sora’s face darkened further with anger. "What the fuck are you doing you freak. Open this door right now!"

"It’s either you sit with the driver or you take the bus to the hospital. Your choice." Raiden shrugged then glanced at his wristwatch. "We have just 20 minutes left. It’ll take some time for you to walk to the bustop and it’ll take the bus longer to get to the hospital considering the number of stops it’ll make before getting there. By the time you arrive at the hospital, your sister’s surgery would have already commenced. Now, what do you say, Sora?"

Sora glared at Raiden, wishing he could just grab him by the tie and punch his stupid face.

Hiro, who was sitting quietly next to Raiden, didn’t want his brother to be late. He wanted both of them to see Saika before surgery so for the first time since last night, he spoke to Sora; "Just get in, brother. Big sis is waiting for us."

Hearing his brother speak to him, Sora’s anger subsided and he smiled at Hiro. "Okay. For you, Hiro." He then glared at Raiden. "No funny business. I’ll be watching."

Raiden just smiled. The minute Sora entered the car and closed the door, he pressed a button on the back of the driver’s seat and a black screen rolled up, separating them from the driver and Sora.

It was also sound proof so whatever expletives Sora was shouting at the other side, none of them could hear.

Only poor Han was left to bear the brunt of Sora’s anger.

Saika, confined by a hospital bed, possessed a quiet elegance despite her frailty. Her dark hair was packed into a low ponytail and her dark eyes reflected a depth of strength. Despite the confines of her illness, an unexpected grace and power lingered. She didn’t seem like a person about to undergo surgery. Instead, she seemed vibrant, a person full of life.

"Hey, I’ll be fine." She whispered to a tear faced Hiro, holding his hands. "I need you to be strong okay? For me."

Hiro nodded but he couldn’t stop the tears from flowing. He had scolded and warned himself so many times not to cry but he just couldn’t help it. "Can’t I go in with you?"
