Chapter 421: Chapter 0421: About Lu Jiang1_1

Feng Qingxue carefully read the whole thing, and continued on.

The entries stated that Wang Xinsheng had two wives. The first was Zhu Hong and the second was Guo Yan. Zhu Hong bore him three sons and one daughter, but a son and daughter were lost in the war. The remaining two sons, Wang Qingping and Wang Qing’an, were both important figures. Zhu Hong passed away due to illness during the war. A few years later, Wang Xinsheng took Guo Yan as his second wife and had six children. Their eldest son died on the battlefield in the Northeast. The remaining five grew up to work in various industries; none of them pursued careers in politics or the military.

Feng Qingxue did not read much about Wang Xinsheng’s family life, as the entries following his children were about his grandchildren. Twenty or so in total, a mix of talented boys and girls, too many to count.

She focused on the major events of Wang Xinsheng’s life, particularly the decades of the sixties and seventies.

Feng Qingxue bolted upright when she read that Wang Xinsheng was dismissed from his post in ’66 and sent to work at the Northwest Farm.

The year ’66, wasn’t that just three years away?

It seemed that he didn’t escape that disaster. What should she do?

This was politics, and she understood nothing about it. She had no way to warn or prevent it from happening, as it was so intricate and complex. It was far beyond her capabilities to avoid it, no matter what she might say.

With that thought in mind, she hastened to read on, only to find that Wang Xinsheng regained his post in ’73.

Which meant, even if he suffered during the disaster, he was reinstated a few years later and continued to serve his country until retirement.

"Close calls but no danger, close calls but no danger. Amitabha, as long as he can survive this disaster, everything will be fine. Except for death, nothing is a big deal," Feng Qingxue breathed lightly, thinking about Wang Xinsheng’s age. He lived to a ripe old age of ninety-five, died peacefully, and witnessed the rapid development of his country in his lifetime.

If there were records of Wang Xinsheng’s life, weren’t there others?

She first looked for information about her father, Lu. Perhaps because he didn’t have any remarkable contributions or achievements, his name was not in the index. But there were entries for Cheng Baoguo and Lu Jiang.

"Lu Jiang?" Feng Qingxue’s eyes widened. She could hardly believe what she was seeing. She stared at the words "Lu Jiang" on the directory, "Lu Jiang, Lu Jiang... is that my husband Lu Jiang, or is it someone else with the same name?"

But she didn’t have the courage to look at his entry.

She was afraid, afraid that Lu Jiang’s wife was someone else, that her journey through time had replaced someone and changed his life.

She was scared, scared to see something about Lu Jiang that she really didn’t want to see.

"Both my uncle and my second uncle are mentioned in these pieces, and there must be something about my dad. He made contributions to the country as well, his story can’t possibly be missing," She returned to the pages about Wang Xinsheng. She couldn’t find what she wanted.

There was no separate entry for her father in Cheng Baoguo’s life story, either.

This man was a powerful figure in politics, who miraculously avoided various persecutions during the disaster. He stayed safe in his hometown for over a decade and received rave reviews. It’s said the locals didn’t want him to leave and were very sad about it. The entries detailed his notable accomplishments in his hometown. Following the disaster, he returned directly to the capital and continued to cement a successful career.

Considering that both of his sworn brothers ended up safe and sound, Feng Qingxue patted her chest, ready for the worst, and nervously flicked to the page that recorded Lu Jiang’s life.

She cried as soon as she read the first line.
