Chapter 38 Plunder
Chapter 38: Chapter 38 Plunder
"The enemy is assembling and moving in the northeast direction."
"A small number of enemies are staying behind at the camp, no more than 30, and no signs of thermal weapons."
"I have reached the edge of the camp and hidden, waiting for the opportunity to attack."
"The main enemy force has already reached the location of Phoenix Hotel, and the conditions for attack are ripe."
Shen Yue’s reports kept coming in, and at this moment, Chen Jian had also led the remaining five people to an attack point 100 meters from the camp.
After conducting another round of aerial reconnaissance on the camp, Chen Jian decisively ordered:
"Enter quietly, clear quietly!"
"Understood!"
With a command, everyone started to move.
The main force was still Lei Jie, wielding a QCQ201 silenced submachine gun, with Shen Yue and He Shuo covering from the high ground, while Chen Jian held a 191 as firepower supplement, leading the Holy Blood team of four directly to the center of the camp along the pre-reconnaissanced route.
All thermal signals had been marked, and Chen Jian had no intention of searching every building. Instead, he cleared a direct path to the central armory, aiming to achieve the goal in the shortest time.
Their presence was inevitably exposed, but the 9mm bullets in Lei Jie’s hand mercilessly tore through the oncoming Terror Demons one after another.
Any that slipped through were dealt with by the Holy Blood Team’s four members using cold weapons.
The battle was conducted in silence; aside from the howls of the Terror Demons, even the sound of gunfire was barely audible.
After advancing 200 meters, the group successfully reached the vicinity of the target armory.
The shallow craters left by mortar shells were half-buried by the heavy steel structure framework. Before they arrived, those Terror Demons had tried to move these steel frames, but obviously, without effective organization, they were unable to do so in a short time.
They simply left a few strong Terror Demons to continue moving and clearing, but these few were undoubtedly wiped out by the team.
The entire camp had fallen into a deathly silence. From the aerial reconnaissance circulating images, Chen Jian could not completely confirm that there were no other enemies in the camp, but he could be sure that even if there were enemies, they wouldn’t dare to charge anymore.
After all, they were intelligent beings capable of fear.
Did they really think that with the blessing of the Blood God, they were invincible?
Just one 9mm can teach you a lesson!
"Safe!"
"Safe. You can start clearing!"
He Shuo’s response came from the back. Chen Jian glanced at Li Shi, who was holding a shield, and the latter understood immediately, advancing quickly without additional orders from Chen Jian.
Xu Lie was dumbfounded.
Who exactly is the leader here?
I haven’t even said a word, and there you go, taking action so diligently?
But it wasn’t just him; Xie Liu and Zeng Yi had already climbed onto the rooftops of the buildings, spontaneously keeping watch for the team.
This team is really impossible to lead...
Xu Lie silently complained, but his body moved obediently, sniffing in front of the armory ruins before he announced:
"There’s still life inside, but I can’t determine the location."
Chen Jian nodded and signaled to Lei Jie.
Lei Jie took out a portable through-wall detector, taking a lap around the ruins while Li Shi moved the steel frame out of the way, then marked the location and estimated angle of entry with simple hand signals.
The next second.
"Bang!"
A 12.7mm bullet whistled through the air, followed by Shen Yue’s synchronized machine-gun fire.
"Bang bang bang bang----"
The fragile half-brick wooden structure walls were instantly penetrated. When checked again through the wall detector, the displayed living targets had vanished.
Xu Lie was stunned.
These chosen ones always surprise him.
Or rather, frighten him.
The script he had in mind was to wait for Li Shi to clear the obstacles at the entrance and then rush in with Zeng Yi to swiftly eliminate the last of the Terror Demons as a gesture of goodwill, if not for showcasing.
After all, the chosen ones were always at the forefront of danger before, and now that the battle was almost over, wouldn’t it be fair to let us take the lead once?
But he didn’t expect that in their script, there was no notion of rushing in to fight...
As Li Shi cleared away the heavy steel frame, Chen Jian and Lei Jie quickly entered the interior in a standard two-man breach position, sweeping dangerous angles first and then unhesitatingly finishing off the bodies on the ground.
"Clear! Search the equipment, prepare to retreat!"
Chen Jian rushed to the center of the building, where a narrow door to the basement awaited.
As the narrow door was still closed, Xu Lie finally found his chance to lead the charge. Just as he was about to rush in, Lei Jie blocked his path.
Lei Jie pulled the steel door open a crack and dropped the lone remaining stun grenade through it.
"Buzz!"
The loud noise left everyone with a slight ringing in their ears, and as the stun grenade exploded, Lei Jie was the first to charge in.
"Bang! Bang!"
Two shots later, the basement returned to calm.
In the darkness, two bodies lay headshot on the ground.
Xu Lie stepped forward for a quick glance and said:
"These might have been captives. They don’t have the Blood Skull mark on them----you killed the wrong ones."
"Not wrong."
Lei Jie shook his head and said:
"When I came in, they had weapons. Would you hand weapons to captives?"
As he finished speaking, Xu Lie finally noticed the two pistols lying beside the bodies, and he froze in place.
"What’s going on? How do they have weapons? Who were they?"
On closer inspection of the bodies, he noticed their exposed skin was covered in intricate, colorful tattoos, and even with half their skulls blown off, their faces still exuded an eerie and frenzied aura.
Particularly when he saw the large piercings on the nostrils, Xu Lie finally realized.
"These are Huadu’s enchantresses----damn, how did they appear here?!?"
As Chen Jian picked up a decently kept pistol from the ground, he asked, puzzled:
"Huadu?! What’s that, Dongguan?"
"It’s a small town where the people are a bit peculiar, worshipping physical stimulation and procreation to the extreme."
"But most of them are human, how could they appear together with the Blood Skulls?"
"Most of them?"
Chen Jian furrowed his brow and without further discussion, ordered:
"We don’t have time to think about this now. Everyone move and take all the useful equipment from the ground."
"Li Shi, forget about your shield; I’ll find you a better one when we return!"
"Set up a rack yourself and pack as much as you can!"
"Alright."
Li Shi didn’t question Chen Jian’s order, and as Xu Lie was still fixating on the corpses on the ground, he had already started gathering useful items just like Chen Jian and the others.
The cleaning operation began swiftly and ended just as quickly.
There was plenty in the armory, but most were cold weapons or miscellaneous items.
In just over ten minutes, all the equipment was packed up.
"Retreat!"
With Chen Jian’s command, the six-member team retreated along the path they came on, leaving the camp.
In the silent camp, only scattered corpses and pools of spilled blood remained...
