Chapter 158: Chapter 55: Cooperation of the Monsters
The sun had already risen, but for Chen Jian’s team, infiltration didn’t necessarily need to be bound to darkness.
There was no need to mention the nimble Holy Blood members, as Chen Jian and his team quickly reached the vicinity of the Central Hospital, thanks to the high speed of their cat car and the pre-scouted and planned route.
Originally, there was a sizable Horror Demon Camp here, but consecutive attacks had destroyed most of it.
Coupled with the joint attack of the Mechanical God Sect and the Holy Blood Temple, all the Terror Demons rushed to the front line. When the Huaxia Army squad arrived, there were only a few Terror Demons left.
Hiding in the bushes two hundred meters from the Central Hospital, Chen Jian took one last look at the structure of the target building and then decisively ordered:
"Lei Jie, Shen Yue, He Shuo, follow me inside the building for the clearing operation."
"Zeng Yi, Xie Liu, operate the automatic grenade launcher for defense."
"Li Shi, Ji Xing, focus on clearing scattered targets outside."
"Our speed must be fast enough; if the leader returns, the personnel outside must immediately send a warning and organize an interception at once!"
"Understood!"
With the order given, Chen Jian swiftly rose.
The four-person team, equipped with 191 assault rifles suitable for indoor combat, advanced towards the Central Hospital in a standard single file formation.
The drone had already identified all abnormal heat sources. Chen Jian’s team did not engage enemies actively but instead followed the shortest route, heading straight for the main entrance of the Central Hospital.
The door here was already damaged, which saved them the trouble of breaching it.
In just a few seconds, they reached the entrance.
Chen Jian raised his hand to signal "prepare for assault," then stepped back to position two, while Lei Jie, holding two grenades, moved forward, briefly confirmed, and tossed the grenades in two directions inside the Central Hospital.
"Boom!"
"Boom!"
The grenades exploded instantly, and the four of them quickly entered the building, spreading out in waves.
As the vanguard, Chen Jian first aimed at the dangerous corner to the right of the main entrance. The sentry enemy there hadn’t even reacted, still dazedly looking around after being knocked down by the grenade’s shockwave.
Chen Jian did not give him a chance to fight back and gently squeezed the trigger.
"Bang!"
The bullet pierced through the skull, splattering a burst of blood on the wall behind the enemy.
Meanwhile, He Shuo and Shen Yue also finished clearing their respective enemies, instantly emptying the entire Central Hospital lobby.
"Move upstairs along the stairway to the right!"
Chen Jian gave a simple order, and the four-person team swiftly advanced with their guns at the ready.
While crossing the corridor, they each checked the rooms on both sides, leaving no dead corners unchecked.
The corroded and damaged doors greatly facilitated their search; they didn’t even need to enter proactively, relying instead on drone reconnaissance to know in advance if there were any moving life forms inside the rooms.
The advance was astonishingly fast, reaching the upward staircase in just 30 seconds.
By then, the people in the building finally realized they were under attack.
Shouts and commands echoed inside, and the Terror Demons outside the building ran to charge inside, only to be intercepted mercilessly by the four team members left outside.
They used weapons with the smallest noise possible, ensuring the battle at the Central Hospital wouldn’t be quickly discovered by the main forces battling in the distance.
Everything proceeded smoothly as Chen Jian stepped onto the second floor.
But at the moment he popped his head out.
"Bang!"
"Bang bang bang bang!"
A dense barrage of bullets suddenly shot straight down the corridor. The drone quickly dodged, while Chen Jian leaned to the side, swiftly retreating back to the corner.
"Four enemies! All carrying automatic weapons!"
"Lei Jie, grenades!"
"Got it!"
Lei Jie immediately moved forward, swapping places with Chen Jian. He pulled the pin on a thermobaric grenade, then lodged it at a dead angle against direct fire, tossing it to the end of the corridor.
"Ding!"
With a crisp sound, the grenade’s release pin snapped open.
But Chen Jian keenly heard that there was more than one sound!
"Enemy grenades! Take cover!"
He shouted preemptively, and the group quickly retreated to the corner. Just moments later, the end of the corridor near the squad exploded with two loud booms.
"Boom!"
"Boom!"
The shockwave, mixed with dust, swept over. Chen Jian didn’t hesitate at all, almost stepping over the aftermath of the explosion to charge straight into the corridor.
Lei Jie’s grenade burst just in time, with Chen Jian’s target locked on the enemy attempting to take cover.
Then,
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
One shot, one kill—two unarmored enemies dropped instantly.
Soon after, Lei Jie stood and fired, the chest of an enemy who just picked up a weapon to counterattack burst into a mist of blood, rendering him motionless.
"Retreat to the stairwell, keep moving up!"
"All their guys should be on the top floor, let’s get up there first, then clear them out one by one!"
"Understood!"
The team ignored a few enemies rushing from the corridor, instead quickly returning to the stairwell after throwing a grenade.
With the roar of a grenade, the team briskly climbed the stairs.
But their heavy footsteps clearly betrayed their intent; as they ascended, enemies on each floor rushed towards their stairwell, attempting to block their path.
Reaching the third floor, they couldn’t move any further.
A barrage of grenades was thrown down from the upper floor, creating constant explosions, and even the staircase was blasted to bits!
The team was forced to change routes, but as they charged towards the opposite rooftop, the situation was just alike!
