Chapter 91: Welcome To The Meeting Room.

Scarlett’s heart raced as her thoughts churned. I’m older than him, and besides, he’s my boss on Earth, even if it’s not here. She tried to focus, but the moment between her and Garvin felt electric, charged with an unspoken connection.

Just as their lips were about to meet...

"Are you the new members?" a deep, masculine voice interrupted, shattering the tension like a stone through glass.

Scarlett jerked back, her heart pounding, while Garvin, clearly as caught up in the moment as she was, moved away reluctantly.

"Damn it!" Scarlett muttered under her breath, biting her lip so hard she tasted blood.

Garvin pressed a hand to his chest, exhaling sharply. "You scared the hell out of us, man. Really bad timing," he murmured, his voice tinged with frustration.

"Yes, we are," Scarlett said, her tone cool but steady. She averted her gaze, refusing to look at the man’s bare, sculpted torso as water dripped down his skin. "What’s the problem?"

"The boss asked all new members to meet him in his office as there’s a meeting commencing soon," the man said, his tone sharp and authoritative. "I’ll be your guide. Follow me. The party is about to begin, and new members shouldn’t be mingling here until they’re assigned to their groups."

Kato’s voice carried from above the balcony, loud and clear despite the distance. "We’ve been waiting for him anyway," he called, his enhanced senses allowing him to overhear the conversation easily. His arms were crossed over his chest as he stared down at Scarlett and Garvin. "Get out of the water, you two. Let’s meet Austin."

"We’ll meet you both downstairs," Larry added urgently, already moving toward the exit with the rest of the group trailing behind him.

Scarlett let out a deep sigh, her annoyance palpable. She climbed out of the pool, accepting Garvin’s steadying hand on her waist as he helped her up. He followed her shortly after, water streaming off his frame.

"You okay?" Garvin asked, drying his wet hair with a towel. His eyes flickered to Scarlett’s chest, where her damp clothes clung to her skin, accentuating her curves. He swallowed hard, quickly redirecting his gaze elsewhere.

"I’m fine," Scarlett replied tersely, grabbing a towel which she used in drying her hair after which she picked another one and wrapped it tightly around herself. "Let’s just go."

Garvin nodded his head in response and quickly picked up his top which was lying on the floor afterwhich he out it on.

Together, they followed the guide through the lavish hallways of the compound.

The rest of the group was already gathered, waiting for them.

"Remember. Listen more and speak less." Garvin reminded, his voice barely above a whisper.

The group nodded their heads in agreement, their expression determined as they continued following the guide all while they’re already armed with their guns Incase of any threats.

The sounds of lively chatter and booming music filled the air, signaling that the party had officially begun. The group gaze wandered briefly toward the source of the noise, but they quickly refocused, their instincts urging caution.

Their guide led them through the corridors until they stopped in front of an imposing wooden door. Without hesitation, the door swung open, revealing a totally dark room inside.

"This is as far as I can go," the guide announced curtly. "You can head in. The boss is waiting." He turned and strode away without waiting for a response.

"We can head in? The boss is waiting ? Inside this dark room?" Maya questioned with an irritated expression.

Kato stepped forward, his expression grim. "This is it. There’s definitely going to be a reason why it is dark. Step in first and find out" he said, his voice heavy with apprehension. With a deep breath, he entered the room.

"I can never understand that guy. I don’t even know who’s more weird between him and Austin." Maya said with a scoff, her hands crossed over her chest as she watched Kato dissapear into the room.

Scarlett map materialized before her and her crimson eyes scanned through it indicating that the room was free of danger and of course only three green arrows signs representing Austin, Ayra and Jones is present.

"Come on." Scarlett announced with a warm smile before stepping into the room. The others hesitated briefly before filing in one by one. They trusted Scarlett after all and they knew she wouldn’t step into the room if she wasn’t sure it was free of danger.

The door slammed shut behind them with a resounding bang, the noise reverberating through the dimly lit space. Maya and Louise flinched visibly, their unease written across their faces.

"It’s so dark in here. Are you sure we’re in the right room where the meeting is taking place?" Maya whispered, her voice trembling. "This is... creepy."

"Shush! Just stay calm. The guide wouldn’t lead us to a wrong room not when this organization has strict rules." Larry chimed in with a heavy sigh.

Scarlett and Kato instinctively lowered their gaze, ensuring their crimson eyes stayed hidden. They couldn’t risk revealing their powers to Austin or his group, not yet.

"Welcome to the meeting room," a deep voice echoed from the shadows. Scarlett’s group hearts tightened at the familiar sound...it was Austin.

"Finally," Maya muttered, exhaling a shaky breath.

Suddenly, the room was bathed in a warm, golden light. The illumination revealed an ornate, long table at the far end of the room. Behind it stood Austin, flanked by Ayra and Jones, who were seated on either side of him.

As their eyes adjusted, the group took in the room’s unsettling decor. The walls were covered in intricate paintings of monsters. Some were creatures they had encountered before, but others were unfamiliar monsters which they haven’t came across yet.

"Damn," Louise murmured under his breath, his voice barely audible. "Guess we haven’t seen the worst of it yet."

"Who in their right mind decorates a room like this?" Maya whispered, clutching her arms tightly. "It’s like these monsters are about to crawl right out of the walls."
