Chapter 180: All I care about is you.(End)

And Garvin.

He would have built what she had asked of him, the only safeguard if another apocalypse were to break out.

Scarlett flagged down a taxi and climbed in. "Anderson Company," she instructed.

The driver gave a curt nod and pulled into the steady stream of traffic.

Minutes later, the car rolled to a stop before a towering skyscraper, its mirrored windows reflecting the sky. This place where she had once spent years working, clawing her way up was now just another building to her.

Scarlett exhaled deeply, then stepped out of the taxi, paid the driver, and turned her gaze toward the grand entrance. Just as she was about to walk in, her eyes caught sight of a lone figure seated on the edge of the building’s courtyard, his back turned to her.

Her breath hitched.

Garvin?

Without thinking, she stepped toward him, anticipation coiling tightly in her chest. But as soon as the man turned, disappointment rushed through her veins.

"What’s wrong?" the stranger asked, raising a brow in confusion.

Scarlett shook her head, offering an apologetic smile. "It’s nothing. I thought you were someone I knew. Sorry."

With a slight bow, she turned away.

Her heart clenched. She had imagined him so many times older, but still Garvin. Even after twenty-nine years, his physique should be the same, right? He wouldn’t have changed too much. Would he?

A firm hand suddenly grabbed her wrist from behind.

Scarlett’s breath stilled as she slowly turned around.

And there he was.

Garvin stood before her, dressed in a crisp white office shirt and black pants. His build remained powerful, commanding. The only difference was his hair....shorter, more refined....but his face...

Damn.

He looked exactly the same.

Her chest tightened, and before she could stop it, tears welled in her eyes. The first drop fell and the sky responded.

Thunder rumbled. The golden sun disappeared behind a blanket of dark clouds, and heavy raindrops crashed down upon them.

Yet neither of them moved.

Neither of them cared.

"Scarlett?"

His voice struck her like lightning, sending a tremor through her entire being. Only heaven knew how much she had longed to hear him speak again.

"You’re Scarlett."

Instead of answering, she broke down.

A sob tore from her throat, raw and unrestrained.

And in the next heartbeat, Garvin pulled her into his arms.

"I knew you’d make it," he whispered, voice hoarse with emotion. His grip tightened, as if he was afraid she would disappear. "I knew it."

Tears streamed down his own face, mixing with the rain.

"I missed you," he choked out. "I missed you so damn much."

"I missed you too," Scarlett sobbed. "I came running here the moment I got my memories back."

"I know." He exhaled a shaky breath, pressing his forehead against hers. "That’s why I was waiting for you."

He let out a small chuckle. "Enough crying, though. If you keep this up, you might flood the damn city."

Scarlett sniffled, laughing softly through her tears.

Garvin wiped her damp cheeks with his thumbs, then took her hand and led her inside the building.

Heads turned as they entered.

Employees stared in shock, whispering among themselves, but Garvin ignored them all.

The moment they stepped into his office, he shut the door behind them, enclosing them in silence.

"You should change before you get sick," he said, already moving toward his desk. "I’ll have someone bring you something else, but for now, you can wear my extra shirt."

He grabbed a towel and turned toward her. Gently, he draped it over her head, drying her rain-soaked hair.

Scarlett didn’t move.

She just stared at him.

"What’s wrong?" he asked softly.

Instead of responding, she reached up and pressed her lips against his.

The hunger was instant.

Garvin groaned, pulling her flush against him, his hands tangling in her hair as he deepened the kiss. Their bodies crashed into the wall, their breaths ragged, their movements desperate.

Scarlett gasped as he lifted her onto the desk, pushing files onto the floor without a second thought. She wrapped her legs around his waist, pulling him closer, needing him closer.

Between heated kisses, she murmured, "Do you think... the apocalypse will start now that we’ve found each other again?"

Garvin paused, his forehead against hers.

"I don’t give a fuck about the apocalypse right now," he growled. "All I care about is you."

His lips captured hers again, rougher this time.

His hands found her breasts, kneading them through the damp fabric of her clothes before he pulled the shirt over her head and tossed it aside. His fingers traced the curve of her waist, then slid lower, teasing the growing heat between her thighs.

A moan escaped her lips as he rubbed slow, deliberate circles against her clit.

"Oh, fuck," she breathed.

Garvin grinned, his eyes dark with hunger. He dropped to his knees, spreading her thighs apart before burying his face between them. His tongue flicked against her sensitive flesh, and she arched, her fingers gripping his hair as she cried out.

"Garvin...."

He didn’t stop.

Didn’t slow.

Didn’t let up until she was trembling, writhing, her body teetering on the edge.

She was close.

And then he stood, undoing his belt with one hand.

Scarlett’s gaze dropped to the thick, aching length of him.

A smirk played on her lips.

"Let me return the favor," she whispered.

Sliding off the desk, she dropped to her knees, wrapping her fingers around his rigid heat before taking him into her mouth.

Garvin let out a guttural groan, his head tipping back. "Fuck."

She sucked, slow and teasing, before taking him deeper.

"Scarlett...."

He yanked her up, spinning her around before thrusting into her in one swift motion.

A strangled moan tore from her throat as he filled her completely, stretching her in ways she had forgotten.

He slammed into her, fast and deep, his grip tightening around her neck as their gazes locked.

"I love you," she gasped.

His pace faltered.

"I love you more," he rasped.

And then they shattered together.

Outside, the sky burned crimson.

A bold red symbol appeared in the clouds, blazing like a warning.

"The Apocalypse Starts Now."
