Chapter 172: End Of The Apocalypse II
Chapter 172: End Of The Apocalypse II
Garvin clenched his fists, his determination unwavering. "Good. Then let’s do it now. There’s no point in waiting until nightfall. The sooner we kill these monsters, the sooner we can get the hell out of here."
Ryder’s face lit up with excitement, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. "I can’t believe this is happening for real... but I’m so happy! We’re finally making progress!"
Ethan nodded, his expression more serious but no less resolute. "Alright. Ryder and I will handle the announcement for the survivors. We’ll instruct them to find safe places and stay put, no matter what happens outside."
Louise chimed in, his voice steady but filled with an undercurrent of relief. "And once you and Garvin are done eliminating the necessary monsters and securing a route free of threats, you’ll broadcast the final message. That way, all survivors will know exactly where to gather so we can leave this so-called haven together." His eyes shone with a rare glimmer of hope.
"Exactly," Garvin confirmed, a sharp determination etched across his face. "Scarlett and I will leave the announcements to you two. Once we’ve completed the extermination as planned, we’ll notify you through the system." He glanced at each of them in turn, his tone lowering slightly but no less firm. "Until then, stay safe. We’ll be meeting again soon."
Ethan, Ryder, and Louise exchanged glances before bowing their heads slightly in acknowledgment. Without another word, Scarlett and Garvin turned on their heels and strode out of the building, their movements swift and purposeful.
Louise exhaled softly, his gaze lingering on the closed door. "Stay safe," he murmured under his breath, even though they were already gone.

Scarlett and Garvin didn’t bother with walking. Instead, they activated their skill, scanning for the areas most densely populated with monsters. Within seconds, a swirling portal materialized before them, dark and foreboding. Without hesitation, they stepped through, immediately concealing themselves with Scarlett’s invisibility spell.
The air beyond the portal was thick with the nauseating stench of rotting flesh. Monstrous growls reverberated through the ruins, the sound of primal hunger echoing against crumbling structures. Scattered across the bloodstained ground were the remains of unfortunate survivors, their limbs torn apart, their faces frozen in eternal terror.
Scarlett’s grip on her weapon tightened. These creatures... they have no right to exist. "They’re already killing survivors again just when they managed to come back alive."
"That’s their nature. The only way to stop them is to put an end to them. " Garvin chimed in, his face filled with anger as he scanned the remains of dead survivors on the floor. "Anyways let’s wait for Ethan and Ryder to make the announcement, then we start the plan." He added while Scarlett nodded her head in agreement.
Minutes passed, their patience beginning to wane. Then, cutting through the eerie symphony of the apocalypse, the amplified voices of Ethan and Ryder rang out, their message reaching every remaining soul in this hellscape. The system’s holographic screen illuminated the sky, displaying critical instructions for survival.
At the same time, Scarlett and Garvin connected their minds, their thoughts intertwining as they searched for the locations of the remaining survivors. They needed to be certain, absolutely certain that no innocent people would be caught in the devastation they were about to unleash.
After several tense moments, they confirmed it. The survivors were all sheltered in the designated safe zones. Some had perished before they could reach safety, but the living had managed to find refuge.
Garvin let out a heavy sigh, his breath misting in the cold, stagnant air. He turned to Scarlett, his eyes burning with determination. "It’s time."
Scarlett gave a single, resolute nod. "Let’s show these monsters what real nightmares look like."
Without another word, they stepped forward, preparing to unleash their newest, untested abilities on the unsuspecting horde.
"Let’s do this!" Garvin declared, his voice filled with determination. Without hesitation, he reached for Scarlett’s hand, his grip firm, grounding them both in the moment.
Together, they channeled their abilities...Monster Attraction Skill and Spell Casting Skill.
The moment their combined power surged forth, the once bright sunlight vanished, plunging the sky into utter darkness. A deafening explosion ripped through the air, the sheer force of it prompting Scarlett and Garvin to instinctively cover their ears. The next assault on their senses was even worse, the pungent, nauseating stench of monster fluids flooded the atmosphere, nearly making Scarlett gag. She clenched her jaw and forced herself to endure it. Now isn’t the time to be weak.
The explosions continued, their ears soon adjusting to the overwhelming noise. Agonized growls of monsters echoed through the crumbling apocalypse world, a horrifying combination of pain and destruction. The very ground beneath them trembled as if the apocalypse world itself was on the verge of collapse.
And then...just as suddenly as it had begun, the chaos ceased. The sky, once engulfed in darkness, gradually reclaimed its golden light, as if nothing had happened at all. But the undeniable evidence of their destruction lay before them, mounds of lifeless monster corpses littering the ground.
Scarlett exhaled sharply. That’s one step closer to ending this nightmare.
Wasting no time, she and Garvin activated their tracking skills, locating the temporary safe havens where survivors were hiding. Once they pinpointed the locations, they unleashed another wave of spell-casting energy.
This time, the sky remained bright, yet the monstrous stench intensified, and the guttural howls of dying creatures reverberated even louder. One by one, the remaining monsters fell, wiped out in mere seconds.
When the last of the creatures had perished, Scarlett and Garvin exchanged a knowing glance, the weight of their accomplishment settling in. They had done it. They had paved the way for a true sanctuary for the survivors.
But their work wasn’t finished yet.
Their moment of victory was fleeting, replaced by the understanding that they had to repeat this process again and again until every last temporary safe haven where survivors are hiding right now was truly safe.
Drawing a deep breath, they pressed on, methodically eliminating the threats plaguing the scattered survivor camps. The cycle continued, explosions, growls, and the scent of death filling the air until finally, a familiar chime interrupted their relentless extermination.
Ding!
A holographic screen materialized before them, its golden light shimmering against the ruined world.
{Congratulations, Host. You have gathered enough coins to upgrade and build the Safe Haven. Now that the majority of monsters have been eradicated, the Apocalypse World will soon collapse. A new world will be constructed, awaiting another group of humans to face the next cycle of the apocalypse in a thousand years.}
Scarlett scoffed, folding her arms over her chest. "Oh, that won’t be happening."
The system remained silent, as if attempting to process her defiance.
"I knew that the Spell Casting Skill was enough to eliminate all monsters in this world and that’s why it was part of the skill rewarded to I and Garvin," she continued, her voice cold and resolute. "But I chose not to end it that way. Instead, I’m calling upon the Heavenly Blast I’ve decided on, a final, absolute destruction. Nothing will remain. No world. No apocalypse. No second chances."
Another pause.
It was almost amusing. The system usually quick to respond now hesitated, its silence almost reluctant.
"And while you’re at it," she added, her tone sharp, "start building the Safe Haven. We’re moving in soon."
At her command, the holographic screen flickered before vanishing.
Garvin chuckled lightly, watching Scarlett with intrigue. "The system doesn’t seem too pleased that you’re still fixated on using the Heavenly Blast despite giving you two skills that can eradicate monsters without ruining the apocalypse world." He smirked. "That silence? Definitely a sign of disapproval."
Scarlett rolled her eyes. "I couldn’t care less."
Just then, another notification appeared. This time, the faces of Ethan and Ryder materialized on the floating screen, their expressions a mixture of exhaustion and urgency.
"All survivors are already making their way out of the temporary safe haven down to the house since I gave them this location when you did not give me a location we should all go to," Ryder reported, exhaling deeply. His frustration was evident. "But do you have anything to speed up their arrival? The stench of this world is unbearable, and it’s making my stomach churn. The others feel the same."
Ethan nodded in agreement, his face slightly pale. "We need to get out of here fast."
Scarlett offered a reassuring smile. "No need for them to travel any further. Instead of having everyone move toward the house, I’ll create a portal that will transport them directly to the new location. That includes you and the others as well."
With a graceful flick of her wrist, she summoned a glowing blue light into the sky. The energy pulsated, spreading rapidly as it took shape a massive portal forming above the ruins.
Once satisfied, Scarlett turned to Garvin. "Let’s go."
A separate portal materialized before them, and without hesitation, they stepped through.
As they emerged, they found themselves standing in a familiar yet hauntingly surreal place, the cemetery where Scarlett had once been buried.
But what lay before them was even more staggering.
A sea of people stretched as far as the eye could see. Not hundreds. Not thousands. Millions. Trillions.
The sheer vastness of the world’s population, resurrected, stood before them, an endless ocean of faces. No one knew who was who. It was a flood of lost identities, all standing in silent awe.
At the highest point of the cemetery, Ethan, Ryder, Louise, Hunter, Jaden, and little Hope stood, their gazes locked onto Scarlett and Garvin. Despite everything they had endured, their faces radiated pure joy.
Ryder was the first to break the silence, his grin stretching from ear to ear. "I still can’t believe this. It feels like I’m dreaming... but we’re finally going back to Earth!"
He exhaled, his excitement mixed with lingering concern. "Though... if the people we loved were resurrected here, I’m guessing they have the same condition as Hunter memories wiped. But they’ll get them back once we return home." His voice softened. "And even if they don’t... well, Earth is big enough. We’ll find them eventually."
Scarlett smirked, her thoughts drifting elsewhere. And once I’m back... I can finally punish my ex-husband and his wretched family. It’s only a matter of time since I couldn’t do it here in the apocalypse world.
The others exchanged nods, sharing a silent understanding.
And then , just as if on cue, a brilliant golden light shone to their right.
A grand, ethereal door stood tall, its arch adorned with glowing letters that read:
{Safe Haven}
{Congratulations, Host. The permanent Safe Haven has been successfully constructed.}
