Apocalypse: Building And Hoarding My Way Through.
Chapter 166: Three Days Visa.

Chapter 166: Three Days Visa.

Garvin ran a hand through his hair, still in utter disbelief. "So, you’re telling us that if we want to bring survivors here, we have to..."

{Yes.}

Scarlett’s face burned with embarrassment as she glared at Garvin. "This is ridiculous," she muttered, frustration lacing her voice. "We can’t just... you know... every time we want to come back here."

Garvin shrugged, his expression equally uncomfortable as he looked away. "I guess there’s another way, though. Another way to bring survivors here." He let out a heavy sigh before turning back to Scarlett. "Or what do you think?"

The system’s voice chimed in before she could respond.

{Hosts, I must remind you that your union is not just a means to an end. It is also a symbol of your bond and trust in each other. And, unfortunately, I regret to inform you that there is no other way to open the Safe Haven every three days apart from the one method I’ve given you.}

Scarlett and Garvin exchanged a look, their faces heating up once again.

"What the actual heck?!" Garvin murmured under his breath.

"Let’s get out of here first, Garvin," Scarlett said, exhaling deeply. "We’ll talk about this later when we’re settled. My replica, Jaden, and little Hope are still waiting for us in the forest."

Without another word, Scarlett thought of the apocalypse world in her mind. In an instant, she found herself standing amidst the towering trees, Garvin appearing beside her. Ahead of them stood Scarlett’s replica, along with Jaden and Hope, their backs turned. Though they remained hidden under Scarlett’s invisibility spell, she and Garvin could still see them clearly.

The world, which had been plunged into darkness moments ago by the Heavenly Blast, now gleamed once more under the sun’s golden rays. The ground bore no sign of ruins, and the surrounding buildings structures that should have been decimated stood untouched, as if nothing had ever happened.

"Woah! This is surprising. How come they’re still standing?" Garvin asked with his eyes widen open in disbelief as he took in his surroundings.

Ding!

The system’s voice echoed in their ears.

{Corrupted Chosen members have been dealt with. Everything that transpired remains unknown to other humans, as a time freeze occurred during the Heavenly Blast. Only you and Garvin were aware of the world turning upside down, witnessing the destruction firsthand. Once the mission was completed, the time freeze ended, and the apocalypse world reverted to normal as if the Heavenly Blast never took place.}

Garvin exhaled, running a hand down his face. "Oh... I see," he murmured under his breath.

Scarlett remained silent for a moment, her mind still reeling from everything. But there was no time to dwell on it now. They had people waiting, and bigger problems ahead.

Just then, she cleared her throat, causing both her and Garvin’s invisibility spell to dissipate. Instantly, her replica and the two children turned to face them.

"Finally! I could sense your scent actually but decided to wait for you to reach out to us. " Scarlett replica said Witt a warm smile as she cradle little Hope in her arms.

Jaden’s eyes widened in pure joy the moment he laid eyes on Scarlett. Without hesitation, he sprinted toward her, throwing himself into her arms as tears of relief streamed down his cheeks.

"I thought I’d never see you again!" Jaden sobbed, his small arms wrapping tightly around Scarlett’s leg as he clung to her. "You’re the real Scarlett, not the replica! She said the real you would appear with Garvin, but I thought it was some kind of bullshit. But she was right! You really have powers, that’s how you saved me!"

Scarlett held the little boy close, gently patting his back. A lump formed in her throat, and for a brief moment, tears threatened to fall, but she quickly swallowed them down. Instead, she knelt to his height, meeting his tear-streaked face with a soft, reassuring smile.

"I’m so happy to see you again too, Jaden," she whispered. "So happy you’re alive. If anything had happened to you, I would have hated myself forever for failing you."

Jaden sniffled and wiped his eyes, his face twisting with fresh grief. "Golden is dead." His voice cracked, and his hands clenched into fists. "Kato kept saying it over and over. Victor killed my sister. I just know it! She was looking for you, but... I know he murdered her."

His small body trembled as sobs wracked his frame once more. He buried his face against Scarlett’s shoulder, his cries filled with heartbreak.

Garvin, who had been standing silently beside them, finally stepped forward. He knelt down next to Jaden, his voice calm yet firm. "It’s okay," he said. "Victor has paid for his sins. So have Kato and every other corrupt leader of their organization. They’re all gone."

Jaden lifted his head, his tear-streaked eyebrows furrowed in disbelief. "Really?"

Garvin nodded solemnly. "Yes. Scarlett and I made sure of it. You should be happy now, Jaden. Golden, and everyone else who suffered under them, has finally been avenged."

Jaden’s lip quivered before he hesitated, then suddenly lunged forward, throwing himself into Garvin’s embrace. He clung to him, his small body still shaking as he wept into Garvin’s broad chest.

Scarlett then stood up, glancing at her replica, who was still holding little Hope in her arms. Taking a deep breath, she gently took the baby, cradling her against her chest. She gazed at the infant, the child she had quite literally brought into this world with her own hands. It was astonishing how fast she was growing. It had only been three months since the apocalypse started, yet on Earth, only three days had passed. The system had made it clear that time moved differently in this world.

Her thoughts were interrupted when her replica finally spoke.

"What’s next, boss?" The doppelgänger’s voice was steady but urgent, drawing both Scarlett and Garvin’s attention. "We can’t stay in this forest forever. Even though you’ve dealt with the Corrupted Chosen members, the Heavenly Blast didn’t affect the monsters. I hope you realize that?"

Garvin’s brows furrowed in confusion. "Huh? Wait, aren’t all the monsters corrupted too? I thought the blast would wipe out everything that was corrupted."

Ding!

The system’s voice echoed in their ears.

{The Heavenly Blast you summoned was only for humans from your world...Earth and not for creatures native to the apocalypse world. That’s why only the humans were affected. The monsters are still roaming, still killing. And the longer you wait here, the more lives will be lost.}

Scarlett exhaled sharply, adjusting Hope in her arms before nodding resolutely. "Alright then. The real deal begins now."

She then quickly secured Hope to her front using the baby carrier, making sure the child was snug and safe. "Now that the Safe Haven is here, our next move is gathering survivors."

Garvin rubbed the back of his neck with a sigh. "That might take days as the apocalypse world is huge but once it’s done, we’ll finally be able to use the Heavenly Blast to eradicate all the monsters." His expression darkened slightly. "The truth is... we need to start killing monsters before we can even think about saving people though. Killing monsters is how we’ll earn coins. And we need those coins to purchase resources like food, materials, equipment...everything we’ll need to build the Safe Haven into something truly secure."

Scarlett nodded in agreement. "You’re right. We still have a lot to do." She turned to her replica, her tone sharp with determination. "For now, let’s find Ryder and Ethan. We’ve got two days left on our Visa. We’ll spend the first day slaying monsters and earning enough coins for supplies. Then we’ll return to the Safe Haven before the Visa expires."

Garvin arched an eyebrow. "Hold on, when you say slay monsters, you don’t mean using the Heavenly Blast to eradicate them at once, do you?"

Scarlett shook her head. "No, not yet. We can’t risk it. The Heavenly Blast is too powerful, it would kill every remaining survivor. The next time we use it, it won’t just wipe out the monsters in this apocalypse world, it’ll also destroy anything that came from the monster portal. The effect will be massive, and it won’t spare humans. That’s why, for now, we’ll rely on our elemental powers to handle the monsters while we gather resources and survivors. Once the Safe Haven is fully built and secure, only then will we unleash the Heavenly Blast."

"Am I right though? I just said this and not really sure but it popped up in my head you know. " Scarlett uttered, with a confused expression as she heaved a heavy sigh.

Then silence...

Both Scarlett and Gsrvin waiting for the system to clarify.

Ding!

The system chimed in again.

{It’s not even a ’might,’ Hosts. It will definitely harm any living organism from your world. The Heavenly Blast that was summoned for Earth had no effect on the monsters here, but the one you’ll summon for this world will eradicate everything, including any remaining humans.}

{Anyway, I wish you both the best of luck in building the Safe Haven and exterminating the monsters. It won’t be an easy task but I hope, for your sake, that it gets easier.}
