Chapter 224: Traitor
Chapter 224: Traitor
"Xezbeth shouldn’t have left so early..." Atlas said suddenly, and immediately added, "Three years after the apocalypse began, when all the races of the world were trying to come together, he would come out to disrupt everyone..."
He didn’t stop there and began to shake his leg nervously.
"There’s no way Lady Bellatrix could have crossed the barrier, especially since it was built with Constantine’s support. Did you find any information?" Atlas asked.
Cassandra and Juliet shook their heads simultaneously upon hearing the question. The two of them looked at Atlas for a moment, and Atlas couldn’t take it anymore and said, "Come on, tell me."
Cassandra swallowed and then said, "Atlas, sweetheart... They learned this from you."
Upon hearing these words, Atlas shook his head from side to side and immediately asked, "From me?"
"Yes," said Cassandra.
"As we understand it, you were the one who broke the agreement in heaven and caused Michael’s rescue. This pushed them to monitor Lucifer more strictly, which in turn released many high-ranking demons... I hope the gods and goddesses are watching because... what we have to say won’t please them..." Juliet said.
"We conducted a lengthy investigation," Cassandra said suddenly.
"We captured some demons, not of the highest rank but close to it. A few of the demons that Xezbeth ruled over," Juliet added.
"It was a long process. We tortured them, killed them, and did many other things to them, and in the end, we managed to obtain some information. We managed to learn the name of a god," Cassandra had said.
Upon hearing these words, Atlas furrowed his brows and immediately asked, "So you think someone from the sacred realm did this?"
Both Cassandra and Juliet shook their heads at the same time.
A message suddenly came from Nyx: [Impossible.]
Although the system window that opened in front of Atlas distracted him for a moment, that was the case. The possibility of such a thing, that is, the possibility of someone from the sacred land betraying them, was terrifying.
After all, everyone was watching Atlas. Everyone, in the truest sense of the word. So if someone had betrayed him and done so at this very moment, it would mean that person was already aware of Atlas’s memories.
This was terrible. After all, that person, whoever they were, that traitor, could watch Atlas wherever they were and whoever they were. Everything was out in the open for them.
It must have been quite easy for them to ruin everything and make a deal with the demons.
After all, there were enormous differences between a god or goddess and the demons.
A god or goddess who could almost physically assist them could completely change everything.
The danger had multiplied simply with that thought alone.
"Who?" Atlas had asked.
[There’s no need to ask; we don’t even consider the possibility.] A message came from Chronos.
[Insulting! Do you really think a traitor could emerge from the sacred land?] came another message from Hyperion.
"According to the information we’ve received, this person... is an Oneiroi," Cassandra had said.
With these words, Atlas’ eyes widened. There was no way to describe his astonishment. Not only he, but the entire sacred realm was in turmoil. Even now, there were dozens of Oneiroi in the area where Nyx was, that is, in the Olympus Hall.
Even they could not hide their astonishment.
Another message suddenly arrived from Nyx: [Cassandra must be lying].
"Are you serious about what you’re saying?" Atlas asked.
"Yes. We even managed to find out the name of that Oneiroi," Cassandra replied.
"The name?" Atlas responded.
"He..." Juliet replied.
"Who?" Atlas asked with great curiosity. If the name of the person leaking the information, the god or goddess, were known, everything could be solved from start to finish.
The real issue was whether Nyx, the mother of all the Oneiroi, would punish one of her children.
"We don’t want to blame anyone. After all, the ones who gave us this information were demons, but..." Cassandra had blurted.
"But?" Atlas had finished Cassandra’s sentence.
"The name we learned... His name is Epiales," Juliet had replied.
Atlas’s astonishment faded the moment he heard the name, but his fear had increased by a notch.
"The spirit of nightmares... Oneiroi, nicknamed Black Dream... Why would he do such a thing? Even if we ignore the fact that he is Nyx’s child... This is terrible. If he is involved, then Xezbeth and everyone around him must know about it," Atlas had said.
Nyx and the others sprang into action the moment they heard that name. The sacred land had mobilised in full force to find Epiales.
"What are you trying to say?" Juliet asked for a moment.
"If Xezbeth knows, then demons like Berith, Astaroth, Verrine, Gressil, Belias, and Rosier also know about it, which explains how they managed to get out. Illusions, illusions, and more. It makes sense why they were able to breach the barriers that Constantine and Lady Bellatrix had set up together." Atlas replied.
Upon hearing this, Cassandra raised her eyebrows and said, "So what you’re trying to say is..."
"Yes. Mobilise everyone. Inform every aura master. There must be at least two within the Epsilon Empire. There may be far more high-ranking demons outside than we thought." Atlas replied.
The apocalypse seemed to be finally beginning, and what they knew about it was incredibly limited. If the demons outside were indeed the ones Atlas had mentioned, finding them could be incredibly difficult, even impossible.
Considering how many people they might have already corrupted, everything became terrifying, even dreadful.
Cassandra had acted immediately upon hearing Atlas’ words and left the room. Juliet, however, had begun to watch Atlas with genuine concern.
The expression on Atlas’ face, the emptiness in his eyes, and the anxiety within that emptiness were plain to see.
"Everything will be okay, Atlas," Juliet had said before leaving the room.
All that remained was Atlas, who was under a lot of stress. He had tried to fix everything and had made the best plan he could. However, he had not expected the first betrayal to come from the family of the woman he worshipped.
