Chapter 218: Dead End

Even those words were enough to upset his duplicates, to make them sad. Atlas knew he wasn’t lying. From his sister to all his friends, so many people had died for him. When he was able to go back and live again, Atlas wanted to try to save them.

As he said in the goal he set at the beginning:

"The whole world may burn, but somewhere in the world I will create a place where everything is normal, where all my loved ones can live."

Maybe it was stupid, maybe it was too much thought. Nevertheless, this was his goal.

Now he was very close to realising it...in a world that never burned.

He couldn’t leave everything now. He wouldn’t dare.

That’s why he refused to die. If there was a way, which he hadn’t thought of before he absorbed the poison, he would live and return to the real world.

He was determined to tell these thoughts to each copy, but the only thing he noticed was that each copy suddenly started to smile, but still did not lose its seriousness.

"What’s going on?" he questioned.

"You want to live, don’t you?" one of the copies suddenly questioned.

Atlas, of course, shook his head up and down and then said, "I do think so."

With these words, each copy began to disappear one by one, and the last appearance of Atlas, that is, his wounded state before his death, remained in the centre.

The mature Atlas in that wounded state looked at the real one, the main body, and smiled in a really sad, loving way and uttered the following words.

"If you want to live, you must fight, you must survive. The demon poison is different from what you think; it is alive, it wants to devour everything, and you are now the only prey of this creature, the hunter. Your hands are bare, your mind is dirty. Who you wave them at is up to you. Good luck, main body."

With these words, the copy body began to disappear. Everything began to change second by second, and the area covered with light just a moment ago began to change, albeit slowly.

As the light gave way to darkness, things began to emerge from the darkness, watching Atlas. Atlas realised that he was almost drowning. As soon as he fell from light to darkness, everything started to go backwards for him. It was as if his copies were holding back the poison for him.

Now that everything was released, it was as if the monsters in tens and hundreds of cages were released.

Atlas was left alone with only his bare hands, which he had formed into fists.

He had no intention of giving up. He had no thought of retreating. The only thought he had was that he would pierce each piece of poison with his fists.

Outside his body, something else was going on.

Everyone was in a hurry, a heavy hurry. Eva stared at the unconscious body of her little brother, unable to even move.

Naturally, the young woman was scared. She was losing the brother she had tried to protect all her life, the greatest value she wanted to keep unharmed, right in front of her eyes.

How could an older sister approach this in a normal way?

No matter what anyone did, nothing had changed. They weren’t pulling the poison out of Atlas’ body. Of course, this was because Atlas had loaded the poison directly into the fourth magic ring, the poison magic ring. In short, Atlas thought that they would try to withdraw the poison and therefore locked the poison in his body.

Of course, this was not the only reason. After all, it was very easy for a Sage to batter a magic ring or gently drain the mana from it, even if it was cruel.

This was because Atlas’s magic rings formed a defence system.

Perhaps that was why the copies Atlas had seen existed. The magic rings themselves, the aura energy itself...in short, Atlas’ body was still trying to survive with the will in his mind.

It’s almost like a war mechanism.

Bellatrix spent every second making a potion, and every potion ingredient Cordelia had collected over the last two million years was given to Bellatrix.

Still, nothing was working.

Atlas’ expression darkened by the hour, but somehow he managed to withstand the poison. Of course, every Sage knew what the reason for this was, but it was still bad, because just because he was holding on now didn’t mean that Atlas wouldn’t collapse at any moment.

That was why a great fear gripped each of them.

What if Atlas’s magic ring broke? What if every single magic ring collapsed one after the other? Atlas was no Sage; there was no way he could have survived for very long with his magic rings.

The moment each magic ring collapsed, his mana would dissipate, and his heart would explode from the poison, just like each poison that attacked his magic rings.

The only difference between this poison and the others was that this poison was tens of thousands of times more powerful.

In short, no matter how much Bellatrix created potions based on cooling and destroying poisons, no matter how many other antidotes she came up with every second, there was no way to take the poison from Atlas’ body. This made antidote production almost impossible.

Eva did not leave Atlas’s side for a second. Not only that, but Aveline also came to the tent after finishing her work with Cosmo and did nothing but stand next to Atlas.

She kept calling out to Atlas, "Your mum is here...", trying to raise the possibility of waking him up somehow.

Cassandra hadn’t been notified. Everyone was aware that one piece of news and the entire war centre would collapse. Even though Cassandra would be angry with everyone just because of this, it was the way it should be.

After all, Cassandra didn’t just control one or two fronts. The Sage of Life was the one who reported every single front in the world right now, whether each barrier was protected or not, how many demons were in the barriers, where each existing army should move and how fast it should move...in short, Cassandra’s job was already too big.

Juliet was guarding the barrier of Shorekeeper City.

Cassandra leaving her position would have been the beginning of a doomsday scenario.
