Chapter 206: Duel With Emma (2)
Emma suddenly lunged forward. The young woman made a move toward the sword Atlas was holding, and when Atlas dodged the attack, she shouted, "Press down hard, my lord! If you want to counter an attack, plant your foot firmly on the ground and strike the blow coming at you hard without hurting your arm!"
When Atlas heard this, he shook his head, and when Emma made a similar move again, Atlas used a bit of speed and strength to really slam his foot into the training ground’s floor and then struck Emma’s sword with all his might:
"CHING!!!!!"
An incredible metallic clang echoed throughout the vast area in an instant.
Emma couldn’t hide her shock. How could she?
The blow forced Emma to take a few steps back. Atlas’s speed was, of course, a challenging factor for the young woman. Not only that, but Atlas was also able to use his power very, very well.
Even if Emma didn’t know it, Atlas’s status increase had naturally made him even stronger. Despite the sudden increase in his strength, he couldn’t use it very well, but in Emma’s eyes, it was the opposite.
Atlas was making attacks that weren’t random, but his power circuit was incredibly random.
That was why Emma was struggling. After all, it was naturally difficult to fight an enemy whose speed was constantly changing, whose blows were constantly varying in power, and whose endurance was high.
"Very good, my lord!" Emma shouted and attempted another attack.
"Again!" Emma added to her own words.
At that moment, Atlas had planted his feet firmly on the ground, and a deep footstep echoed throughout the training area as if he had lifted his feet off the ground. Contrary to expectations, Atlas did not directly counter Emma’s attack but instead launched an attack from above toward her sword.
"Ching!"
A thin but powerful voice spread throughout the room. Emma’s sword fell from her hand with the incoming blow, and Atlas had won the duel.
Emma looked proud.
"Shall we continue?" Emma asked with a smile on her face.
Both of them were drenched in sweat, but their eyes said it all. Both Emma and Atlas wanted to continue until they fainted.
The successive sword clashes had begun to attract the attention of the servant vampires, elves, and even humans in the palace.
Many knights had gathered in the training area to watch Atlas and Emma after a short while. No one dared to tell them to leave.
Even Iso, the duty officer among all the servants at Shadowfall Palace, couldn’t help but watch these eccentric duels with a smiling expression on his face.
Even the Sages Talon and Constantine had come to watch the duels as if nothing were happening.
The sound of swords clashing still echoed throughout the training ground, and the sweat pouring from their bodies was soaking the ground, causing them to slip.
Still, neither of them wanted to stop in their fifteenth duel. The score was seven to seven, and whoever won would be considered the winner of all.
That was precisely why neither Emma nor Atlas had attempted to stop. Every second, the swords clashed in the air, collided with each other, and even the punches they threw at each other pulled at their clothing.
Both Emma and Atlas were behaving as if they were in a battle, and the only rule was that they couldn’t use their abilities. This meant that punching, pulling at each other’s clothes, and even throwing sand into each other’s eyes if there had been sand on the ground would have been considered fair play.
"Come on, Emma!" Atlas suddenly shouted and slashed at Emma’s right side.
Emma dodged the attack by bending down, and parried Atlas’s attack by swinging her sword above her head.
Still, the sword in Atlas’s hand did not fall. Atlas was already accustomed to the Holy Sword Delusion. He held his sword tightly, refusing to let go of it even if he took a blow, as if it were a part of his life, like an extension of his own body.
Emma, who had parried Atlas’s attack, immediately attempted a counterattack and lunged directly at him to knock him to the ground.
Still, this was a big mistake. Atlas was still much more resilient than Emma.
That’s why Atlas had planted his feet firmly on the ground and adjusted his body to prevent himself from falling, intending to counter Emma’s charge.
When Emma’s body collided with Atlas, she felt as if she had hit a rock. Still, the young woman continued to push Atlas... though it couldn’t be said that she was very successful.
Atlas took advantage of this opportunity to launch a direct attack, throwing Emma forward and knocking her to the ground, then pressing his sword against her neck.
Emma, unable to fight any longer, said, "All right, all right! I give up..." and let herself fall to the ground.
Atlas immediately fell to the ground and finally let go of the Holy Sword Delusion. The two struggled to keep from laughing. Despite the cheers that suddenly rose from the crowd, the two were just trying to relax.
When Iso walked towards the two from among the crowd, he asked, "Are you all right, my lord?" and when he saw Atlas’ smiling expression more clearly, he turned to Emma and said, "All right, you’re fine."
"Do you need any help?" Iso asked. Emma shook her head from side to side, while Atlas suddenly stood up.
Atlas left the area to use one of the showers in the training ground, and shortly afterwards went to one of the rest areas in the palace.
As he lay back on one of the chairs in the area, he said, "Hero Connecting," again and opened the system panel. In short, since he had already grown accustomed to the Holy Sword Delusion, he thought he could now choose the next god or goddess.
He still had three more chances left.
