Chapter 202: Thanatos (1)
The name of the ability was ’Unbreakable Body.’ To be honest, the name of the ability didn’t seem to reflect its power in any way. After all, there were aura techniques called that in the human world, but when it came to the ability’s characteristics...
That’s when everything changed completely.
[Unbreakable Body (Legendary+++++/Active-Passive)
This is the ability that Hercules has been developing and perfecting since his youth. It transforms the user’s body into an oak tree that has been alive for thousands of years, with roots reaching deep into the earth. The user gains a body that is extremely difficult to weaken, almost to the point of being unbelievable.
When the user activates the ability, their ’Endurance’ stat will increase depending on their mental state.
When the user uses the ability, their ’Strength’ stat will increase depending on their mental state.
Every time the user uses the ability, every defensive ability in their body will increase by exactly 50%.
The user’s ’Endurance’ stat has permanently increased by 100.
The user’s ’Strength’ stat has permanently increased by 100.
As soon as Atlas began reading this ability, an unbearable pain began to spread throughout his body before he even reached the end of it. The Sages, noticing Atlas writhing in pain on his throne, tried to understand what was happening with concern, but Atlas stopped them and spoke in a rather agitated manner:
"There is no problem, just chill! It’s just a gift from the gods!"
With these words, Atlas suddenly fell from the throne. He continued to writhe on the ground. The growing muscle mass beneath his clothing was now visible to the naked eye.
After a short while, when his body returned to normal, Atlas stood up. He touched his own body and saw that his abdominal muscles had grown and become firmer.
When he looked at the Sages, he noticed that everyone except Cassandra was looking at him normally.
Cassandra, however...was she hungry? She looked like she was.
Bellatrix immediately slapped Cassandra’s arm, and Cassandra snapped out of it and asked, "Are you okay?"
"I’m fine. Much better than you think," Atlas replied, and after composing himself, he sat back down at the table.
"Thank you, Master Hercules... your generosity is priceless," Atlas said suddenly, then logged back into the system panel as if nothing had happened.
This time, he knew who he wanted to see. He needed a weapon. A powerful one. There were a few people he could go to for this. He could either go to someone who could forge such a weapon and ask for help... like Hephaestus. Or he could go to someone who already had such a weapon and ask for a replica.
Atlas, naturally, did not want to wait and did not know when the war would come, so he wanted to choose the second option by getting used to the weapon he would obtain.
Therefore, he began to think. He started to think about who would have more weapons.
He needed a weapon that was unbreakable and would never lose its power. A weapon that could constantly strengthen him and perhaps even protect him on the battlefield.
After nearly five minutes of calm reflection, he realised that the best option was for death to come to him, and without a second thought, he skipped all the names and went straight to the section with the letter "T."
Immediately afterwards, he found the name of the person he was looking for, clicked on the name, and accepted the warning from the system.
When his mind closed again, his eyes rested, and when he opened them again, he had returned to the place where he had visited Hercules just a moment ago.
Each god and goddess smiled at him, and Atlas stood modestly, a little embarrassed. Of course, he felt ashamed in such a situation because he had not seen Thanatos and did not know where the gods or goddesses he had chosen were.
"Well... I didn’t see Lord Thanatos here, okay? Everyone can behave that way," Atlas said politely.
While the gods and goddesses struggled not to laugh, Atlas immediately noticed a pale-skinned, expressionless figure standing next to Nyx, with eyes that were truly filled with incredible energy and jet-black hair.
"Lord Thanatos," said Atlas in a calm tone of voice. Thanatos was indeed Nyx’s child. Words could not describe his handsomeness.
"What is your wish, young Atlas?" asked Thanatos in a calm tone of voice. Even his voice was incredibly beautiful.
"A weapon, my lord... My preference is a sword. Since we don’t know when the war will break out, there’s nothing I can do. Otherwise, I would have asked Hephaestus for help instead of bothering you. Still, I don’t think I could get a sword from anyone better than death itself," Atlas replied. He was trying to speak as politely as possible.
Upon hearing his words, Thanatos thought for a few seconds and then said, "I don’t have a sword."
Atlas was truly disappointed. He thought he should ask Thanatos for something else, but before he could even form the thought in his mind, Thanatos spoke again:
"But I can make you a sword using a piece of myself. Unlike Hephaestus’s sword, you will use death itself as your sword."
Atlas didn’t think much of these words and became happy, but the strange expressions on the faces of every god and goddess, including Nyx, were enough to tell him that something was wrong.
"Have you lost your mind?" Nyx asked her son, Thanatos.
Thanatos shook his head from side to side and said, "You’re placing your faith in Atlas, aren’t you, mother? I want to do the same... but in a slightly more extreme way."
"What’s going on?" Atlas asked suddenly, the joy on his face gone, replaced by a strange expression.
When Atlas asked this question, the person speaking to him was once again Selene. Atlas had grown accustomed to hearing the voice of the Ancient Goddess... Of course, he wasn’t complaining.
"This... is a bit complicated, dear Atlas. It’s really complicated," Selene said.
