Chapter 186: Lynx
Chapter 186: Lynx
Finally, after a long day of work, Atlas was able to go to bed and lie down, resting his head on his pillow.
He closed his eyes and was about to relax when he suddenly heard a tapping sound on the window. When he opened his eyes to see what was happening, he saw his copy standing on the balcony.
"Amon," Atlas said suddenly, and without hesitation, he got up and opened the balcony door. As soon as Amon entered, he transformed back into his cat form and jumped into Atlas’ arms.
When Atlas caught Amon, he noticed a note tied around his neck and smiled, saying, "Good job, Amon."
When he took the note and opened it, he frowned and muttered, "Bastards!"
[Dear Atlas Shorekeeper,
My name is Lynx, and I am the leader of the information guild in Orion, the capital of the Epsilon Empire. We noticed your Summons when they entered the capital and were able to understand the problem to some extent. After a brief investigation, we managed to find out where the girl you were looking for was. Through this investigation, we learned that the devil-worshippers on the continent are still active, even though they are on the verge of extinction and have suffered a blow due to the capture of one of their leaders. Despite everything, they continue to target young girls in particular.
We hope you will come to the information guild soon.
Lynx.]
After reading the note, Atlas was filled with rage. Despite everything, the fact that the devil worshippers were still able to continue their activities drove Atlas crazy.
There was no need for Atlas to go to the capital. After all, he had already taken Kai under his command. He could keep Kai under control even with the news of his daughter’s death. After all, Atlas was human, and he was tired.
As these thoughts occupied his mind, he suddenly hit himself on the head and questioned himself, "What am I even thinking?" Immediately afterwards, he got up as if nothing had happened and left his room.
When he saw Emma standing right in front of his room, he gave her a direct order, "Come with me," and Emma followed Atlas without saying a word.
Shortly thereafter, the two found Juliet, and Atlas asked the Ancient Woman to teleport them directly to the capital.
Juliet was curious, but she saw the seriousness on Atlas’s face and teleported them without hesitation.
Perhaps because Atlas and Emma had been teleported several times before, Juliet did not need to create a teleportation formation to calm them down and create a proper environment this time.
Finally, as the sun set, Juliet managed to teleport the pair, and Atlas and Emma found themselves in the market square in the middle of the capital city.
Atlas knew exactly where the information guild was located. To be clear, the guild’s secret location was a pastry shop just a few minutes away from the market square.
For this reason, Atlas gave Emma something to wear so she wouldn’t attract too much attention, and the two began walking through the streets.
Atlas wasn’t a well-known figure in the capital either. Whether he was a noble or not, it couldn’t be said that his face was widely recognised outside of Ilanos City, where he was born.
For Emma, however, the situation was entirely different. After all, Emma herself was the deputy commander of the first division of the Imperial Army, which protected the Emperor and Empress. This alone was enough to place her in a position where she was admired by both noblewomen and noblemen.
Atlas had walked these streets hundreds, even thousands of times, so he knew every corner like the back of his hand. In a short time, just four minutes after teleporting, they had arrived at a pastry shop in one of the side streets four blocks away from the central market.
The sign clearly read [Flemish Pastry Shop].
Atlas entered the pastry shop with Emma and immediately looked at the shopkeeper.
"Call your boss here," Atlas said in a direct, commanding tone.
Even though the clerk didn’t understand what was going on, after just a second or two, he recognised Atlas’s face and said, "Yes, sir," and immediately left his place and went upstairs.
Just half a minute later, a man began descending the stairs alongside the shopkeeper.
He had blue hair, jet-black eyes, was tall, had a scar on his right eye, and, frankly, fit the stereotype of a villain often seen in novels. Still, Atlas knew with all his heart that this man was one of the best people he had ever known in his life.
He was the very man who had somehow managed to save the lives of hundreds of thousands of people when the capital was drenched in blood and the Imperial Family, Aether and Aelia, had fallen.
That was why Atlas had immediately accepted that everything was true the moment he saw that the person who had sent the note was him.
[He never lies, always keeps his word, takes the blue boundlessness of the sky as his truth, and uses the darkness of his eyes to gather information. The Pretty Butterfly of the Capital, Lynx.]
"Welcome, my lord. Forgive me... I truly did not expect you to arrive so quickly. Please, come in," Lynx said calmly, gesturing toward the upper floor and beginning to lead the way.
When Lynx, Atlas, and Emma entered the room, Lynx immediately showed the two a place to sit and then took his seat at his desk, waiting.
When Atlas sat down in a chair, Emma stood behind him, her eyes fixed on Lynx, not taking her gaze off him for a single second.
Emma had no idea what was going on or why she was here with Atlas. Her master’s tone of voice told Emma that something was wrong, perhaps Lynx was a bad person, but the only thing Emma knew was that she would not act until her master said something.
In the end, Emma was like a loyal dog to her master... No... More like a great wolf worshipping her master.
