Chapter 70: The Trial for the Blame

Chapter 70: The Trial for the Blame

The crowd was in total chaos, and the Queen was being pressured publicly. She would have executed Luigi if that had happened privately, but she couldn’t.

Queen Cinzia looked at Dona before composing herself and gestured for everyone to stay silent, but the crowd gave their own opinion regarding the case. This made Cinzia’s blood pressure rose to its limit.

"SILENCE!!!" Cinzia screamed, followed by a loud growl. Everyone could feel the Queen’s dominance, making the crowd whimper from fear and submission.

Cinzia smiled and clasped both of her hands together. "Let’s have a fair trial. Since the victim had spoken the name of the offender. Let’s hear what Lady Dona has to say."

Lady Dona looked at her brother for help with tears forming in her eyes. Her brother Ronaldo was about to step in and beat Luigi to a pulp when Draco stopped him with his arm extended in front of Ronaldo.

"Don’t cause a scene, or you’ll only make it worst," Draco stated firmly and gestured Ronaldo to back off.

Ronaldo was pissed but couldn’t beat Luigi or Draco with the crowd looking at their actions. He stepped back and watched his sister tearing up on the bench.

"I-I didn’t do anything. I haven’t met that man in my entire life!" Dona shouted and looked into the Queen’s eyes. "Your Majesty, please believe me. I can’t do such a thing with my hands."

Cinzia sighed deeply. She wasn’t naive to what kind of woman Lady Dona was. She had heard multiple gossips about Lady Dona’s attitude toward stalking attractive men and forcing them to bed with her. Using her status to threaten them if they reject her proposal.

"Your Majesty, my sister, could never do such a cruel act against any form of a living being," Ronaldo pleaded for his sister. He had heard the gossip about her sister’s doing, but he refused to believe any of them.

Cinzia was silent for a while, thinking of the best solution to keep both parties truces. She didn’t want to lose face against the public and, at the same time, save the alliance she had with the Bloodmoon pack, which was ranked 5th in the realm.

"Since this case has involved a noble. We will deal with this privately," Cinzia announced, and the crowd booed her for taking sides with the noble and not playing fair against the commoners.

Cinzia immediately left her seat, and the event was dismissed early than expected. Dona and Luigi were also taken for questioning by the royal guards.

"Oh, my goddess," Felissa exclaimed and looked at Rosina wide-eyed. "That’s... wow."

"That was unexpected," Rosina commented while Felissa agreed with her.

"We should go too," Felissa stated and pulled Rosina with her since she wanted to hear more about the case.

Rosina looked behind and saw Draco waving at her with a smirk. She nodded her head to acknowledge his presence before going to the carriage.

Only the nobles could participate in the case held privately. It was one of their perks with the status, while the commoners would wait for the result since they couldn’t voice their opinion, unlike the nobles.

Most nobles went to the Palace and assembled in the Throne room. The Queen was already sitting on her chair. Draco and Gastone were there as well.

Dona and Luigi were at the center, while the rest of the nobles were situated at the side.

"Your Majesty, please. Hear me out," Dona started crying and knelt on the ground to show submissiveness.

"I already hear enough," Cinzia sighed deeply while massaging her forehead. "Let’s get this done."

"Your M-majesty," Luigi stuttered while sweating terribly. He glanced at the side and looked at Draco before lowering his head. "I apologize for hiding the truth. I was frightened since Lady Dona had threatened me if I told the truth."

"No! I don’t even know you!" Dona screamed while she cried terribly. She didn’t know what to do to prove her innocence. "I can’t even kill an ant!"

Luigi was shaking from all the dominating aura he felt inside the room. He wanted to leave, but he knew once he stepped out. His life would be over.

"I am telling the truth, Your Majesty," Luigi exclaimed, which triggered Ronaldo’s anger as he finally snapped.

Ronaldo barged into the center and kicked Luigi’s stomach. "You peasant! How dare you say such lies to my sister!"

"I-I’m not l-lying," Luigi cried out when Ronaldo started kicking him.

"Alpha Siciliano, please calm down," Cinzia stated firmly, which made Ronaldo stop his abuse.

Ronaldo sighed deeply and glanced around him. Several nobles judged his attitude, which ruined their reputation, especially since they were accused of threatening a powerless commoner.

Cinzia pursed her lips to calm herself. She didn’t want to break her elegant demeanor because of anger. Her eyes glanced to where Melania was standing with a grimaced expression.

"Lady Melania, please step forward," Cinzia stated and ushered Melania to the front.

Melania was surprised that she was called. Her heart was beating faster than usual as she curtsied. "Your Majesty."

"Lady Melania, what would you do about this case?" Cinzia asked. She wanted to hear the opinion of the ladies that would be part of the royal family.

Melania’s breath hitched, and she looked at Luigi and Dona, who was begging to save her. She looked at the Queen with a nervous smile. "Your Majesty, I thought this man only made stories for personal gain. He’s a commoner with a struggling business. Who knows if he was using this opportunity to receive compensation from a noble’s pocket. I believe that Lady Dona was innocent."

"I see. Thank you, Lady Melania," Cinzia smiled widely as Melania went back to her spot at the side.

Queen Cinzia gazed at the crowd and spotted Rosina at the far corner. A smirk appeared on her lips. She always wanted to know what was on Rosina’s head.

"Lady Rosina, please come forward," Cinzia stated and gestured for Rosina to come. Everyone’s attention went toward Rosina since her identity was still unknown, and there was little to no information about her.

Felissa gazed at Rosina with worry. "Lady..."

"I’ll be fine," Rosina muttered and squeezed Felissa’s hand before she stepped out from the crowd. Her steps echoed in the silent room as she didn’t hesitate to bring out her dominant aura for them to smell.

Rosina stood at Luigi’s side, which he cowered away from her. She looked down at him; it would only take one step before Luigi pissed himself.

Luigi felt Rosina’s dominant aura, but that wasn’t the one that frightened him. The other scent lingered around— a smell of a dangerous predator.

"Lady Rosina, as the fiancee of Prince Draco; future Princess and Duchess of this realm. Tell me, what’s your take in this case?" Cinzia leaned on her knuckle as she anticipated Rosina’s answer.

Rosina glanced at Draco at the side before she faced the Queen. There were two choices in her head; being dumb to cover her real power and identity so they not be wary of her presence or win the case, which would show that she wasn’t afraid of them.

"Lady Rosina?" Cinzia muttered when Rosina was not answering.

Rosina took a deep breath and mediated her elegant and kind demeanor as she faced the Queen. "Your Majesty, I will now state what was on my mind."

"Sure darling, go ahead and take your time," Cinzia stated and encouraged Rosina, which made Melania jealous of how the Queen treated her.

Rosina chose to stay in her character of being naive for everyone not to make her their target, but when she was about to speak. She saw Melania glaring at her, that type of glare that wanted to rip her body to shreds.

’If I acted dumb, Melania would win,’ Rosina thought. She didn’t care about pride and would choose to be stepped on before taking her revenge, but it was different for Melania. That lady was pissing Rosina to the core with a simple look.

Rosina straightened her body and raised her head to show confidence. She turned to Draco, who liked her attitude.

"Lady Dona and I didn’t know each other, nor this man," Rosina stated before shifting her gaze toward Dona, who was begging her through the eyes. "But I heard gossips lurking around in the shadows that Lady Dona fancied attractive men and wanted to bed with them, married or not."

The crowd gasped from Rosina’s statement and started murmuring at one another. Dona was breathing heavily and looked at her brother, who was fuming angrily.

"Of course, I don’t believe in those useless rumors. People like to gossip, and the stories change over time from each devilish tongue that spoke those words, but I won’t judge since I liked to gossip as well," Rosina laughed, and several she-wolves giggled at her statement. Even the Queen smiled, especially since her tone was calm and not argumentative.
