Chapter 521: The Return of Vanda

Gastone walked toward the Palace wearing his robe to cover his face. It wasn’t far from him, but it still took time to reach the place. He kept his head down, ignoring the stares of the servants and guards nearby.

However, to Gastone’s surprise, they never bothered him. He expected at least a guard would stop him and ask for his identity.

’This is really weird,’ Gastone thought to himself as he walked quickly toward the Palace. When he was close, he saw the guards looking at him.

"Umm," Gastone was about to talk to them when the guards looked at one another, stepped to the side, and let him enter the door without a word.

That action made Gastone creep out.

’Do they know it’s me?’ Gastone thought as he stepped forward and entered the room.

To Gastone’s surprise, the design inside the Palace changed. Before, it was in white and gold with elegant large windows, and plants placed in vases were everywhere.

However, the new designs and architectures were rather dark in contrast.

"Sir..." a voice called from behind, and when Gastone turned, he saw Fina smiling at him.

"Fina," Gastone muttered in recognition of her.

"This way, Sir," Fina informed, walking to the side.

Gastone didn’t question Fina’s action anymore and followed her, which led him to the garden where Rosina was tending to a patch of flowers. The serene atmosphere seemed a stark disparity to the storm brewing within him.

Gastone approached Rosina cautiously.

"Your Majesty," Fina stated to announce their presence. She bowed slightly before leaving the two alone.

"Rosina," Gastone began, trying to keep his tone calm, "Can we talk for a moment?"

Rosina glanced up, a warm smile gracing her lips. "Of course, Gastone. What’s on your mind?"

Gastone hesitated, wondering how to phrase his question without sounding paranoid. "A woman named Vanda showed up at the house earlier. She said she’s a friend of yours. Do you know her?"

Rosina’s expression froze for a fraction of a second— just long enough for Gastone to notice. She quickly recovered, but the flicker of tension didn’t escape him.

"Vanda?" Rosina repeated, her voice carefully neutral. "Yes, I know her. She’s... an old acquaintance. Why do you ask?"

Gastone frowned. "Vanda was in the house uninvited. She acted like she knew me, but I don’t recall ever meeting her. And she said she’d be back."

Rosina sighed, placing her gardening tools aside. "Vanda can be... unpredictable. She’s not dangerous, Gastone, but she has her own ways of doing things. I’ll speak to her and ensure she doesn’t intrude again."

"Not dangerous?" Gastone echoed, his skepticism evident. "She appeared out of nowhere, and I didn’t even sense her presence until she was right behind me."

Rosina met his gaze, her own expression hardening slightly. "Vanda isn’t a threat. If she wanted to harm you, she wouldn’t have announced herself like that. Trust me on this."

Gastone clenched his fists, frustration bubbling to the surface. "I understand..." he replied. He still wanted to ask more questions but felt Rosina was hiding something from him.

Rosina noticed how Gastone was unsatisfied with her answers. She rose up and walked closer to him. "I can assure you everything will be fine. You have a lot on your plate right now, and you don’t need another problem to add to it. I will talk to Vanda later, okay?" she stated softly, patting Gastone’s chest to help ease the tension.

Gastone wanted to argue, but Rosina’s tone left little room for debate. He turned away, shaking his head. "Fine. But I won’t hesitate to defend myself if she tries anything."

Rosina chuckled. "Of course. Slap her if she’s not being nice to you," she replied.

Gastone finally smiled as Rosina’s words helped him relax. "Okay, then I’ll go back to my place," he stated, stepping back and bowing slightly before walking away.

Their conversation was short enough for Gastone to soothe his mind from questions.

As Gastone walked away, Rosina remained in the garden, her eyes clouded with worry. She knew Vanda’s sudden appearance was no coincidence.

"That b^tch finally showed up after I tried summoning her for months..." Rosina muttered, removing her gloves and throwing them aggressively on the ground.

Vanda had lost contact with Rosina for months since they last saw each other.

Rosina didn’t mind it at first since she thought Vanda had other things to do or taking her sweet vacation, but it surprised her knowing Vanda came back, but not to her.

"What do you want from Gastone, Vanda?" Rosina asked, putting her hands on her waist. "You finally came back but visited him first," she added.

"Why, is it wrong?" a voice spoke from behind Rosina.

Rosina didn’t need to turn around to know who it was since the voice was too familiar to her.

"Come on, I don’t mean any harm to come across Gastone!" Vanda continued, chuckling as she walked in front of Rosina. "Miss me?" she added.

Rosina’s gaze sharpened as Vanda sauntered toward her, wearing that signature mischievous smile. "Miss you? Hardly," Rosina replied icily, folding her arms across her chest.

"Aww, don’t be like that. We haven’t seen each other for months!" Vanda exclaimed in disbelief.

"I would be delighted if you visited me first... but why Gastone?" Rosina asked. She felt there was a motive behind Vanda’s action.

"Don’t be jealous. I visited you now," Vanda replied, shrugging her shoulders.

"Don’t play games with me," Rosina said in a sharp voice. She squinted her eyes and stared at Vanda intensely.

Vanda tilted her head, feigning innocence. "Games? That’s a strong word, Rosina. I was simply... introducing myself. You’ve spoken so fondly of him in the past. Besides, I’m just curious why he’s back in the Werewolf realm."

Rosina’s jaw tightened. "If curiosity was all it was, you wouldn’t have slipped into his home uninvited. You know how fragile things are for him right now. What are you scheming?"
