Chapter 510: The Touch

Gastone was in disbelief at what Lucia had said. He stepped closer, his eyes filled with concern. "Lucia, you don’t have to face this alone. If you stay, it could be dangerous. Giselle is not just some woman from your past; she’s powerful, and she’s got connections here. Who knows what she’s planning?"

Lucia’s expression softened slightly as she looked at Gastone. "You don’t understand, Gastone. I know what she’s planning," she replied.

"Lucia..." Gastone hesitated, searching for the right words. "What are you planning to do?"

Lucia smiled sadly. She looked up toward the stars twinkling against the dark sky. "I don’t know yet. But I can’t keep hiding. If Giselle is here, it means something bigger is at play. She wouldn’t have come unless she had a reason. I need to find out what that is."

Gastone’s face hardened. He didn’t know why Giselle was at that party, and he initially thought it was because Daniel had invited him. However, based on Lucia’s words, there was more than that.

"What will you do if Giselle sees you?" Gastone asked, curious about Lucia’s backup plans.

"Hmm, I doubt it," Lucia replied. She touched her light blond hair and waved it before Gastone. "This isn’t my original hair color."

Gastone blinked a couple times, trying to understand what Lucia had revealed. "You dyed it?" he asked curiously.

Lucia began giggling, amused by how Gastone reacted. "Haha, you fall in love with my fake appearance. I bet if you see the real me, you won’t even spare a glance."

"I doubt that. No matter how different you look. I will still know it’s you," Gastone stated firmly, showing sincerity. After all, Lucia was his mate, and he could detect her by her scent.

"That’s funny, but it’s refreshing to tell this to someone. I hope you won’t snitch on me," Lucia smiled teasingly, walking toward Gastone.

"I don’t do that kind of thing. Tell me whatever you like, and I will take it to my grave," Gastone said, placing a hand on his heart to show how serious he was.

"Cute," Lucia giggled, looking straight into Gastone’s eyes. "Then, let me tell you since we have known each other for so long now."

Gastone nodded, waiting for Lucia to speak her next sentence.

"I made a lot of changes to my appearance. This face that you’re looking at is fake," Lucia revealed in a whisper.

"What do you mean? All of it?" Gastone asked, pointing at Lucia’s face.

Lucia nodded. "I changed my hair, my nose, lips, basically my whole face. Even my skin I lightened them. I used to be tanned, which those ugly bastards find unique, and wanted me as their antique toy," she stated angrily. Memories of how the old men admired her skin and wanted her as a trophy to boast around their friends.

Gastone sighed, running a hand through his hair as he felt frustrated. He thought Lucia was one of the children who was set to become human meat, but there was more to it.

"I see. So this business have another branch. Let me guess, they sell beautiful girls to the wealthy and the others that were not picked are thrown to become food?" Gastone asked, putting the pieces together.

"Yes, haha. You finally get it," Lucia giggled. It hurt to tell Gastone about her past, but she wanted him to know.

Gastone’s heart tightened as he listened to Lucia’s words. The truth of her past was far darker than he had imagined. He had known she carried a heavy burden, but the full extent of it was now laid bare before him.

"Lucia, I had no idea..." Gastone’s voice trailed off, a mix of sorrow and anger brewing within him. He wanted to protect her, to shield her from the horrors she had endured, but he also knew that she was stronger than anyone he had ever known.

Lucia gave a small, sad smile. "There’s a lot you don’t know, Gastone. I’ve done things I’m not proud of, just to survive. But it’s all in the past. What matters now is stopping Giselle."

Lucia remembered how she used every means to escape from Giselle and her men. The things she needed to do to get to where she was now. Her hands were already tainted red.

Gastone clenched his fists, his resolve hardening. "Then we’ll stop her. Together."

Lucia shook her head gently. "You don’t understand, Gastone. This isn’t your fight. If you get involved, you could get hurt. And I can’t bear to lose another person close to me."

Gastone raised his brow when he heard Lucia’s last sentence. "Am I close to you?" he asked, his mouth forming a little smile.

Lucia rolled her eyes. "You already ate my p^ssy and see everything without clothes on and you think we’re not close?"

"Okay, that’s not what I meant," Gastone said, raising both hands in surrender, or Lucia would make him more embarrassed. "Anyway, I’m already involved. I’ve been by your side all this time, and I’m not leaving now. Whatever Giselle is planning, we’ll face it together. You don’t have to do this alone. I already told you before; you can use me," he stated firmly.

Lucia looked at Gastone, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. For so long, she had been fighting alone, carrying the weight of her past with no one to share it with. But now, here was Gastone, willing to stand by her side, no matter the danger.

"Thank you," she whispered, her voice thick with emotion. "But for now, let me work alone. I’ll contact you when I need your help."

Gastone sighed. Although there was still a gap between them, he was fine with the end result. "Okay, I’ll wait," he reached out, gently cupping Lucia’s face in his hands.

Lucia leaned into his touch, closing her eyes momentarily as she allowed herself to feel the comfort of Gastone’s presence. But the moment of peace was short-lived, as Daniel’s voice boomed nearby.
