Chapter 50: The Queen’s Invitation
Chapter 50: The Queen’s Invitation
It has been a week since they buried Terzo’s body in the ground. The seedling has been taken care of by Draco’s gardener to grow.
All that time, Rosina started exploring the residence to kill time since the urge to kill and to have sex had been suppressed. Draco had returned to the Palace for the work he needed.
"I’m alone again in this massive house," Rosina muttered as she slammed her head against the wall. Fina and Sal were also busy doing laundry of her clothes.
"What should I do to entertain myself?" Rosina groaned and thought of m@sturbating for the whole day, but when she was about to touch herself, she heard approaching footsteps. She fixed herself and acted as if she was looking at the paintings attached to the wall.
"Lady Rosina, good afternoon," Ferro stated when he saw her standing on the side. He stood in front of her before bowing in respect.
"Sir Ferro, good afternoon to you too," Rosina greeted with a soft smile.
"You seem to fancy paintings, Lady," Ferro stated and looked at the pain above, a man killing a boar. The painting was gruesome, with blood scattered everywhere.
"Ah, yes," Rosina forced to admire the painting even though it wasn’t her liking. "Do you need anything, Sir Ferro?"
Ferro took something out of his pocket and handed it over to Rosina. "Her Majesty, the Queen, invited you to a tea later, around 3:00 in the afternoon, at the royal garden."
"Thank you," Rosina smiled as Ferro bowed down and left. Her smile dropped as she looked at the invitation. Somehow, she felt that uneasy.
Since Rosina didn’t want to bother her busy servants, she went and dressed on her own. The feeling of being able to take care of herself without the servant’s help made her feel the freedom of independence.
Wearing a simple baby pink lace gown and partnered it with light make-up. Rosina went down the stairs with a carriage waiting for her outside.
Ferro was standing on the side, waiting for her to depart. "Lady Rosina, I’ve prepared a carriage for you to the royal garden."
"Thank you, Sir Ferro," Rosina smiled at him before he assisted her inside.
The carriage started running as Rosina tried to calm herself. Multiple scenarios played in her head as to why the Queen called for her.
After a few minutes, she arrived at the royal garden and saw a few servants outside the greenhouse. They greeted Rosina went she came down and walked toward the door.
The male servants opened the door for her, and inside was the Queen alone, waiting for her arrival.
"Your Majesty, the Queen," Rosina stated and curtsied in front of her.
"My dear, please sit down," Cinzia smiled while gesturing for Rosina to sit in front of her. The servant immediately served her tea and biscuits before leaving the greenhouse.
"Have you been enjoying your stay here on the Palace grounds?" Cinzia asked while steeping her tea.
"Yes, I’m exploring my new home and adjusting to my new environment," Rosina answered and made an innocent and cheerful expression. For the Queen not to suspect anything.
"That’s great! Has the Prince been treating you well?" Cinzia stated, and her eyes glanced at Rosina with a knowing look. She was looking for signs that Rosina might be unhappy with her life with Draco.
"Yes, he is," Rosina looked down with a soft smile while playing with her cup of tea. "He was bonding well with me, and I noticed that we had much in common."
"Oh really? In what matter?" Cinzia pressed further as her eyes squinted to see what Rosina would answer. She was still thinking that Draco must have done something for Rosina to become his mate, and she wasn’t wrong.
’Your son and I liked to fuck and kill,’ Rosina thought, but she couldn’t blurt it out loud. She smiled gently at the Queen and took a bite of the cookie to take more time to think.
"Your Majesty, the Prince, and I liked to go out in the city. We enjoyed looking at the paintings that other wolves might think it’s weird. Then we both share love in plants, especially trees," Rosina stated dreamily. She remembered all the things she had seen and observed while with Draco.
"I see, Draco really fancied buying a lot of tree seedlings, and I don’t know what he was doing with it," Cinzia shook her head. She had seen Draco’s expenses regarding buying bulk seedlings in years.
"Yes," Rosina giggled. She knew the Queen was there to indirectly interview her and observe her movements.
"Lady Rosina, have you met my son, the Crown Prince?" Cinzia stated with pride as her mood lightened up.
"Yes, Crown Prince Gastone and I met at the event. He was soft and gentle, like a sun that radiates light to everyone’s heart," Rosina explained while remembering Gastone’s golden hair. She wondered if she could cut a strand and sell it, how much would it be sold in the market.
"He is a good son of mine. Worthy to the throne and leading the entire Werewolf realm," Cinzia stated and stood up from her seat, which Rosina followed as well.
"He will be, Your Majesty," Rosina replied and followed behind Cinzia.
"And I could see that you are a fine and elegant lady the moment I laid my eyes on you. Although you came from a lower rank, you’re still a noble. I won’t go around the bush, Lady Rosina," Cinzia stated, plucked a pink rose, and placed it behind Rosina’s left ear.
"My son, Gastone, has taken a fancy to you. It would be a better option to become the future Crown Princess rather than being Draco’s wife and suffering your life miserably from his misfortunes," Cinzia touched Rosina’s face with a soft smile. "Think about your future as well, my dear."
"I— " Rosina was about to speak when Cinzia held her index finger to her lips.
"You don’t have to decide instantly. After all, you have the freedom to choose what you want to do, but don’t close any opportunities that come your way," Cinzia pulled Rosina’s body closer and kissed her forehead before walking away from the greenhouse, leaving Rosina stunned at what had happened.
Rosina flinched when the door was closed harshly. She fisted her hand and tried to control her emotions before she could cause a riot in the Palace.
"Ha ha ha," Rosina chuckled as she sat back on the chair. She took the rose from her hair and placed it on the table. She was amused by how the mating was easily manipulated by those with power and ranks; t was supposed to be the red string that pulled each person together.
’The Moon Goddess must be very disappointed,’ Rosina thought before standing up and leaving the garden. ’But I like it that way.’
A smirk played on her lips as she rode the carriage back to Draco’s residence. What happened might cause her some trouble, but it would also not make her bored the entire time she was there.
Draco was waiting for her outside when she arrived at the residence with a grumpy look.
"You’re here early," Rosina greeted with a smile since there were servants around. She was surprised that Draco wasn’t acting lovey-dovey but instead had a serious face.
Draco pulled her into a hug and glanced around. "Come with me."
Rosina was dragged by Draco toward his office and locked the door behind him. She was curious as to why Draco was acting unusual.
"Something happened? What’s the matter?" Rosina muttered when she faced Draco, who was pacing back and forth in the room.
"You tell me what happened?" Draco snapped back as his eyes kept changing from human to wolf form.
Rosina tilted her head since she had no idea what made Draco so anxious, but she got a hint. "Your mother, the Queen, invited me for tea earlier."
"What did she say?" Draco asked further and went in front of Rosina in close proximity to her comfort zone.
"She asked if I’m adjusting well in my new home and if you’re treating me well," Rosina explained but left some details about what the Queen had said.
"Nothing else?" Draco’s eyes squinted and made Rosina look him in the eye to see if she was lying or not.
"Nothing more. It was a brief talk, and she left after giving me a single pink rose," Rosina muttered and pulled out the rose that the Queen gave her and showed it to Draco.
"Why do you ask?" Rosina stated and tilted her head to the side. Showing confusion and innocence.
"Nothing, enjoy your stay here. I need to do something else," Draco stated before slamming the door open.
Rosina stood there while looking at his retreating form. She didn’t understand why Draco acted that way, but comparing the Queen and his actions showed that there was something between them.
