Chapter 497: The First Move
After a couple of minutes of silent ride in Gastone’s car. They finally arrived at the restaurant, Lucia expected it was packed with people, but it was empty.
"Oh... your restaurant... failed?" Lucia asked with pity laced in her voice.
Gastone chuckled. "No, it’s just close for today," he replied while turning the engine off.
"Okay," Lucia turned to the other side in embarrassment. She bit her lips to stop herself from digging a grave for her to jump on.
Lucia reached toward the handle and opened the door, but to her surprise, it was slammed back, loudly.
"What the—!" Lucia shouted in shock. Her breathing became rapid as she didn’t expect Gastone’s arm to reach toward her door. Her eyes traveled down his arm where his veins looked like it was about to pop anytime soon.
"Let me open the door for you," Gastone replied sternly and stared at Lucia’s eyes with all seriousness to prove his point.
Lucia raised both her hands in surrender. "Okay! Geez, you don’t have to scare me like that," she whispered while watching Gastone retreat his hand and went outside.
Gastone opened the door and gestured for Lucia to come out. "It’s that easy," he stated.
Lucia rolled her eyes and stepped out. "Thank you," she replied. She didn’t wait for Gastone and started walking toward the restaurant. She didn’t know where was Gastone’s office, but she thought it might be inside the restaurant.
"Where are you going?" Gastone spoke with his deep, gentle voice that sent Lucia’s spine to shiver.
"T-To your office," Lucia replied. She stopped walking after feeling Gastone’s presence behind her.
"This way," Gastone chuckled and walked ahead, guiding Lucia in the correct direction.
Gastone’s office was a walking distance from the restaurant, which showed the whole site by the window on the second floor.
"Woah, this building looks like a house instead of a mere office," Lucia exclaimed in amazement.
Gastone hummed. "Yes, I created it this way so I can have a place I call my own," he replied.
"But... don’t you have your own place?" Lucia’s brows furrowed since she had been in his house before.
Gastone froze. He forgot to mention that the apartment belonged to Lucia and it was not his own, but he didn’t want to explain himself to her.
"Well, this is a better place, right? And more relaxing," Gastone stated and went beside Lucia, overlooking the place.
"Yeah, you’re right," Lucia agreed since it was the truth.
However, it was getting dark as the sun set down.
"But, it will be more beautiful with this..." Gastone whispered and clicked a button which made the whole place lit up.
Gastone had put additional fairy lights around the trees and mini lantern lamps around empty spaces so it would look bright. There were also scented unlit candles around the area.
Lucia’s mouth gapped in amazement at the scenery before her. She knew Gastone’s restaurant was beautiful, but she didn’t know such improvement would bring out its ethereal look.
"Do you want to go down?" Gastone asked. He wondered if it would make Lucia calmer and say what she wanted to tell with ease.
"No need," Lucia shook her head. She enjoyed watching the whole view instead.
A comfortable silence fell between them as they enjoyed looking at the garden.
"I wish such a place existed everywhere," Lucia whispered as she settled on the nearby chair while keeping her eyes on the window. "It’s a good idea to have a glass wall, by the way," she complimented.
"Haha, yes," Gastone nodded. He stared at Lucia’s face as his heart beat faster. He wanted to embrace her tightly but was hesitant upon recalling what Daniel’s plan was.
Thinking Daniel wanted Lucia to be his girlfriend and Lucia needed to get close to him for her own motive made Gastone stand in the middle.
Lucia noticed the difference in Gastone’s facial expression. She didn’t know why, but it made her heart ache.
"Are you alright?" Lucia asked, eyes wide as she leaned closer to him.
"I am fine, don’t worry about it," Gastone smiled a little. "So, can you tell me what you want to convey."
Lucia tensed as she had forgotten the purpose of coming to Gastone’s office. "Haha... umm," she fidgeted on her shirt nervously.
Gastone sighed. He could smell the nervousness coming out of Lucia’s pores. "You don’t have to state anything if it makes you uncomfortable—"
Lucia stood up from her seat in haste, grabbed Gastone’s collar, and pulled him close. She pressed her lips into his aggressively and stayed in that position for a couple of seconds. She didn’t hear anything that Gastone said to her.
Gastone’s eyes widened in surprise, but he liked it. However, he wanted to see what would Lucia do next and remained fixed.
Lucia pulled back and tried to catch her breath. She turned to the side to avoid eye contact with Gastone after what she had done. "I’m sorry... I didn’t mean it," she whispered embarrassingly.
"Are you sure?" Gastone teased and held Lucia’s waist, pulling her close to him.
"I—" Lucia’s breath hitched when Gastone kissed the area between her breasts.
Gastone inhaled Lucia’s lemon scent deep into his lungs. The smell made his wolf yelp in happiness as they got closer to their mate.
"G-Gastone..." Lucia whispered softly. She liked the feeling of Gastone caressing her skin softly like cotton. She didn’t reject his advances and rather let him do whatever he wanted with her body.
But Gastone stopped.
"I won’t do anything," Gastone smiled, showing his pearly-white teeth, and removed his hands from Lucia’s body.
Lucia was stunned at Gastone’s sudden decision. "Wh-why?"
"You’re the one who wants to go with me and choose this place. It’ll be disrespectful if I make the first move," Gastone replied and leaned back. His eyes squinted in a playful glare, challenging Lucia.
"But I already did the first move!" Lucia pointed at herself in disbelief. She thought she had already given the sign that she wanted him.
Gastone chuckled. "You know what I mean."
