Chapter 493: The Muddy Forest
Gastone’s eyes widened upon reading the document’s content. He snapped his eyes toward Daniel in disbelief. "What the f^ck am I reading!?" he asked aggressively.
Daniel remained nonchalant with a playful smile on his lips. He leaned back on the sofa in relaxation. "You already know, Gastone. It might be a shock to you but it’s business," he replied.
Gastone pinched the bridge of his nose. He didn’t know how to react at that moment and tried his best to compose himself. He didn’t want to ruin his friendship with Daniel, especially when it was related to Lucia.
"Tell me, why are you using humans as meat products?" Gastone asked, slamming the file on the table. He wanted to know the reason why Daniel went into the cannibalism way of living for business.
"Look here, my friend," Daniel said, leaning forward and crossing his fingers together. "There are so many animals, but are slowly getting endangered. I don’t want that to happen anytime soon."
"You can still breed livestock to serve your customers!" Gastone’s voice rose. He was worked up with the idea that someone was killed just to be eaten by another person.
"Yes, that’s true, but in this a competitive world. We need a new taste for the people to yearn for a pristine and unique taste. Hence why I told you about this. Even though your restaurant is new, you still need to compete with the other establishments in the business world, my dear friend," Daniel explained with a sly smile on his lips.
Gastone crossed his arms and thought about it. "I agree with that, but I don’t need to take human meat to feed humans!" he replied sternly.
"Haha! Why not? It’s not like humans will be extinct anytime soon. We can also help this world by lessening the population of useless humans. Besides, these meats are from those that are discarded by society. So you don’t need to worry," Daniel explained with a smile. There was no remorse or pity in his face.
Gastone was flabbergasted, but he didn’t say anything. Deep inside, his nerves were shaking at the revelation. He expected Daniel to be doing some underground illegal stuff, but he didn’t expect it to be that gruesome.
Daniel noticed the hesitation on Gastone’s eyes even though his face remained stoic. "If it would make you feel at ease. Other businesses are also using human meat as one of their special dishes."
Gastone’s eyes widened and he couldn’t help but laugh. "And why are you offering me this? I’ll be one of your competitors if I accept."
"Well, the supplier wants more customers in her lane. If I get a good business partner, then I’ll be able to access more high-value meats in her care, which means, more income for me," Daniel grinned widely. He had disliked the times when unattractive children were always sent to his farm.
For Daniel, if the person was attractive meant their meat was tastier than those who were ugly.
’This information. Is this what Lucia wants?’ Gastone thought deeply. He knew the confidentiality of the files and its content. Aside from that, he felt Daniel set him in a trap that could potentially endanger his life and cover as a Werewolf.
Gastone stared at Daniel’s eyes in silence. He knew the moment he set on the office that there was no turning back. "I agree with these conditions, but I need to set my conditions. After all, this proposal is as dangerous as it be to the public," he replied.
"Say whatever you want," Daniel shrugged as if he didn’t care about what Gastone would request.
The atmosphere between the two men was heavy as they released their dominance to show how strong they were.
"I want to see the farm where this kind of meat is being processed," Gastone stated sternly. He wanted to know where Daniel hid the people he was about to kill and the source, basically everything, but he wanted to start small.
"Okay, I don’t mind since I trust you so much!" Daniel exclaimed with delight without a trace of doubt. He stood up from his seat and gestured for Gastone to go with him.
"Now?" Gastone asked in curiosity.
"Yes, of course! The earlier the better! Haha~!" Daniel laughed amusingly as he took out his keys.
Daniel had a personal driver, but if it was related to personal relations matters. He preferred to drive alone.
Gastone followed behind in silence, but he kept his guard up in case something happened and he needed to run away. The thought of Lucia completely vanished from his mind as he focused on what was happening currently.
On the way to Daniel’s car, Gastone noticed the wide smile on his face.
"I thought I’d be having a hard time convincing you, but it all turns out great. I know you have a great business mindset the moment I saw you among the crowd," Daniel muttered out of nowhere while he opened the car door to let Gastone in.
Gastone laughed it off as he entered the door, he felt a bit awkward at the gesture but he shook it off.
Daniel went to the other side and started the engine with a silly smile on his face. He couldn’t hide his own excitement as he drove away to where the site of the Turizer farm, located a few kilometers away from their house but within their territory for safety.
Gastone’s heart was beating faster than usual as they came closer. He already pictured what he expected upon arrival there. It would be a bunch of corpses lined up and being chopped to pieces.
The thought of it didn’t bother Gastone since violence was normal in the Werewolf world, but the thought of making a human eat human flesh without their consent made him feel disgusted.
Throughout the entire ride, Gastone remained silent and only made small talk while looking out at the surroundings to get familiar with them for future purposes. It didn’t take long before they entered a dense forest that was so thick that barely any sun could shine below.
The ground was muddy with the road too tiny, only one vehicle could enter.
