Chapter 490: The One In Love

Gastone turned to the right to where Lucia’s street was located. He pulled to the entrance of her flower shop and waited until she was ready to leave.

"Are you okay?" Gastone asked upon seeing how pale Lucia was.

"Y-yes," Lucia replied with a heavy sigh. She wanted to stay beside Gastone for long since that helped her forget her problems.

Gastone smiled. "If you need me, you’ll know where to find me," he stated to assure Lucia that he would be there for her.

"Okay," Lucia giggled cutely. She felt good that someone out there was on her side.

As Lucia reached toward the door, Gastone stopped her. He touched her hand softly to indicate his intentions.

"Wait here," Gastone whispered before getting out of his car and went to Lucia’s side, opening the door for her.

Lucia raised an eyebrow at Gastone’s soft gesture toward her. She got out of the car and shyly faced him. "Thank you for today," she muttered.

"You’re welcome," Gastone replied and looked at Lucia’s eyes, already longing at her absence.

They both stared at one another in silence. Only their eyes spoke their true feelings that they couldn’t say out loud. It felt like they were on their own world until a car beeped on the street.

The loud sound caused both of them to flinched in surprise.

"Umm! I-I’ll be going now..." Lucia stated awkwardly, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear while looking down.

Gastone chuckled. "Okay, be safe out there," he stated and leaned on his car, waiting for Lucia to go inside.

Lucia waved goodbye and scurried the keys from her bag. She felt nervous knowing Gastone was watching her.

As Lucia entered her flower shop, she stole a quick glance through the glass window to see Gastone still standing there, his gaze fixed on her until she disappeared from sight. A flutter of warmth filled her chest at the thought of his lingering presence.

"He’s so hot," Lucia whispered upon gazing at Gastone’s form. She couldn’t help but lick her lips while staring at him.

On the other side, Gastone shook his head in amusement. He heard what Lucia had stated and it made him feel good knowing she was physically attractive to him.

"I should go too," Gastone smirked before entering back in his car and drove off.

The smirk on Gastone’s lips disappeared. He thought about what Lucia had stated earlier and decided to investigate what she had been doing so far.

"Tsk, Lucia. Don’t play on the dangerous side of this world," Gastone muttered in frustration. He tried recalling the events where he had seen Lucia and what struck him was the time of her date with Daniel.

"Hmm, Daniel seems like a prime lead," Gastone whispered to himself. He had known Daniel and found nothing suspicious except that he was the owner of the largest business in the city.

Gastone raised a brow at how he would start with Daniel without looking as if he was prying into their lives.

When Gastone arrived at his restaurant where the customers were packed, but amongst the crowd, he spotted someone waiting for him— it was Daniel.

Without hesitation, Gastone approached Daniel at his table and tapped his back to announce his presence.

"Daniel, how are you?" Gastone greeted with a smile.

"Gastone! Ah~! My dear friend!" Daniel smiled widely, standing up and hugged him. "I am feeling good. I’m here to talk about something."

Gastone reciprocated the hug, though his mind was racing with apprehension. He couldn’t shake off the feeling that this conversation was more than just a friendly catch-up.

"Of course, Daniel. Let’s talk," Gastone replied, trying to maintain a casual demeanor despite the tension bubbling beneath the surface.

As they sat down at Daniel’s table, Gastone couldn’t help but notice the subtle shift in Daniel’s expression. There was a glint in his eyes that made Gastone’s stomach churn with unease.

"So, what’s on your mind, Daniel?" Gastone asked, keeping his tone neutral.

Daniel leaned in closer, his voice lowering to a whisper. "It’s about Lucia. You remember the one I went with when I booked this place," he said, his eyes darting around as if checking for eavesdroppers.

Gastone’s heart skipped a beat at the mention of Lucia’s name. He tried to keep his expression halfhearted, not wanting to give away that he knew her.

"What about her?" Gastone asked, trying to sound nonchalant. He drank the extra glass of water on the table to quench his thirst.

Daniel leaned back in his chair, studying Gastone’s reaction with a calculating gaze. "I think I’m in love with her," he said bluntly.

Gastone choked and coughed the water he drank toward Daniel, but he was able to cover his mouth. He was surprised by Daniel’s unexpected confession. He quickly composed himself, trying to mask his shock behind a forced smile.

"I see," Gastone replied, his voice strained as he struggled to process Daniel’s words.

"Haha! You must be stunned after knowing I finally fell in love with a woman after so many years!" Daniel laughed it off.

"Indeed, it’s quite shocking," Gastone managed to say, his smile feeling more forced than ever.

Daniel leaned in closer, his expression earnest as he continued, "I know it’s unexpected, but there’s something about Lucia that just... captivates me. I’ve never felt this way about anyone before."

Gastone’s heart sank as he listened to Daniel’s words. He couldn’t deny the pang of jealousy that surged within him.

"I’m happy for you, Daniel," Gastone said, trying to sound sincere despite the turmoil within him. Deep down, he couldn’t shake off the feeling of unease at the thought of someone loving Lucia, his mate.

Daniel smiled, seemingly oblivious to Gastone’s true emotion. "Thanks, Gastone. I appreciate your support," he said warmly.

"Is this what you want to talk about or there’s more?" Gastone asked. He was confused as to why Daniel told him about his feelings out of nowhere.

Daniel chuckled awkwardly. "Well, I want you to help make Lucia fall in love with me."
