Chapter 485: The Cup of Tea

Chapter 485: The Cup of Tea

Lucia hurried out of the restaurant in distress, her stomach churning violently in response to Joseph’s shocking revelation. She staggered away, her steps unsteady as she attempted to put as much distance as possible between herself and the unsettling truth she had just learned.

"Where are you going?" Joseph called out, rushing after Lucia in confusion. His steps halted abruptly as he witnessed Lucia retching on the road.

"Don’t... come... near me," Lucia managed to mumble weakly, gesturing for Joseph to stay away as she struggled to regain her composure.

The memories of the harrowing scene involving the corpses resurfaced relentlessly in Lucia’s mind, tormenting her like a broken record. The realization made her physically ill as she pieced together the dreadful truth.

"Those kids... children..." Lucia muttered, trying to steady her breath, but the shock was overwhelming. Her vision blurred, and she felt a sense of dizziness creeping over her. She knew she needed to get back home, even though it was quite far away.

Another wave of nausea hit her, causing Lucia to vomit once more on the street, further weakening her.

The people passing by cast concerned and disgusted glances in Lucia’s direction, unaware of the turmoil that had struck her profoundly.

"G-Gastone..." Lucia muttered weakly. She clutched her abdomen, feeling the raw anguish coursing through her.

The image of Gastone’s face appeared in Lucia’s mind. All she wanted was to be at his side and be comforted by his presence.

"Gastone... Where are you?" Lucia whispered, slowly falling to the ground.

At the same time, the sky turned dark, and the rain started to pour. The people around ran away to take shelter, but Lucia was left alone.

Lucia was delighted with the rain as it hid her tears. She sat on the ground, ignoring the stares as she didn’t care about her appearance anymore.

"Gastone... I-I can’t do this anymore," Lucia muttered weakly as her shoulders slumped. Her body shivered from the cold.

Lucia knew she had finally reached the near end of her plan due to Joseph’s information, but thinking she might have eaten human meat was enough to draw her past the crossing line of mental stability.

"I will revenge you all..." Lucia whispered, looking down at the pooling rain beneath her. She fisted her hands, but her anger vanished as sadness overwhelmed her.

"Gastone... please take me away," Lucia muttered. Then she felt the rain no longer dropping off her. She looked up and saw an umbrella.

"I’m here," a familiar voice spoke, making Lucia’s hole quiver.

"Gastone!" Lucia exclaimed, standing up. Her eyes swelled after seeing the man she wanted to see the most. "You’re here!"

"Yes, I saw you while I drove by," Gastone explained, watching Lucia from top to bottom. His heart ached from seeing her in that state, but he didn’t want to ask the reason for now. "Let’s head back to my car to dry you up, or you’ll get sick."

Gastone held Lucia’s hand, pulling her up from the ground. He tightened his grip and was about to walk when Lucia hugged him.

Lucia embraced Gastone by his stomach and pulled him close, feeling his warmth. "You’re really here," she muttered.

Gastone looked down at Lucia. He could feel her distress excreting from her pores.

"Yes, I’m here for you," Gastone replied gently. He wrapped his arms around Lucia and started walking back to his car. He could smell another scent from her, which triggered his wolf since it was a man’s scent.

"Let’s get you home," Gastone stated softly, opening the door for Lucia to enter, but she wasn’t bulging.

"I don’t want to," Lucia mumbled, putting her head in Gastone’s chest.

Gastone sighed. He didn’t fight back and walked to the driver’s seat. He went inside and placed Lucia in his lap, cradling her.

The space was tight and cramped, but Gastone didn’t complain and let Lucia rest with him even though he was drenched in the cold.

The rain continued to drum against the car’s roof, creating a soothing backdrop. Gastone gently stroked Lucia’s hair, offering silent reassurance as he started the engine.

The car rolled into motion, navigating through the wet streets. Gastone’s thoughts were a mix of concern for Lucia and a heightened awareness of the unfamiliar scent that had caught his attention.

"Lucia," Gastone spoke softly, "You don’t have to say anything if you’re not ready. Just know I’m here for you, no matter what," he stated.

Lucia remained nestled against him, finding solace in the warmth and security of Gastone’s embrace. She appreciated the support from him.

Gastone decided to bring Lucia into his own apartment. He carefully lifted her from his lap, stepping out into the rain-soaked night. With Lucia in his arms, he walked towards his door, mindful of her fragile state.

Once inside, Gastone settled Lucia on the couch. "I’ll get you a towel," he stated before grabbing a blanket and covering her trembling form.

Gastone started boiling a warm cup of tea, hoping to offer some comfort to Lucia. He prepared the tea, and the aroma filled the air, creating a sense of homey comfort in his apartment. He returned to the living room with a fluffy towel and gently patted Lucia dry, careful not to exacerbate her fragility.

"The tea will be ready in a moment," Gastone announced, continuing to gently dry Lucia’s hair.

Lucia nodded in acknowledgment, allowing Gastone to tend to her without resistance as she gazed into the distance.

Shortly after that, Gastone declared, "It’s ready now," handing Lucia a comforting cup of tea.

"Thank you," Lucia whispered, accepting the tea from Gastone’s outstretched hand. The cup’s warmth transferred to her cold fingers, offering physical comfort.

"You’re welcome, Lucia," Gastone replied. He removed his coat, hanging it on the rack. "I’ll be taking a shower. If you need anything, feel free to take what you need."

Lucia nodded, gripping the cup tightly as she watched Gastone enter the bathroom. A smile appeared on her lips as she took a sip.
