Chapter 483: The Nugget Street

Chapter 483: The Nugget Street

Lucia was pacing back and forth in her own room and biting her nails. She had contemplated going to Nugget Street or ignoring Joseph’s words.

"Ugh! Why is he even bothering me so much!?" Lucia screamed in frustration. She couldn’t understand why Joseph had become unbearable as she had considered him a kind man before.

Lucia clenched her fists, her inner turmoil palpable. "Why can’t he just leave me alone?" she exclaimed, her voice tinged with exasperation.

Lucia collapsed onto her bed, running her hands through her hair in frustration. Despite her efforts to find clarity, the mystery surrounding Joseph’s motives persisted.

Then, Lucia’s mind drifted to her plans with Gastone. She would go to his restaurant immediately if she could, but Joseph intervened with her goal.

"If only I can kill— Ah!" Lucia sat up and slapped her cheeks from thinking something gruesome. "I should only kill if its necessary."

With a sigh, Lucia stood up and prepared herself to meet Joseph. She was still reluctant and didn’t trust him, but her curiosity got the best of her.

Aside from that, Lucia knew Joseph wouldn’t stop pestering her if she continued ignoring him.

The clock struck seven in the evening and Lucia was already in the Nugget Street, but the problem was that Joseph didn’t say the exact location.

"Now what?" Lucia asked herself while looking around, hoping to see Joseph’s figure, but to no avail.

"He wants to meet me here, yet he’s nowhere to be found," Lucia sighed, blowing a cold air. It was a freezing night, and she just wanted to be in her comfortable room.

Lucia’s frustration grew as she scanned the street, searching for any sign of Joseph. The chilly evening air gnawed at her, adding to her discomfort and impatience.

"Tsk! I will leave in 15 minutes," Lucia muttered, her breath forming small clouds in the cold night air.

Joseph’s lack of specific instructions left Lucia stranded and uncertain about how to proceed.

"Ugh, nevermind," Lucia rolled her eyes and was about to leave when she felt a presence from behind. The next thing she knew, a hand covered her eyes.

"Guess who—" Joseph couldn’t continue his words when Lucia forcefully elbowed him in the stomach. "Ack! AH!"

The impact caused Joseph to release his grip, his exclamation of pain echoing through the cold night. He staggered back, clutching his stomach in discomfort, clearly caught off guard by Lucia’s defensive reaction.

"Whoa! W-What was that for?" Joseph gasped, trying to regain his composure as he stumbled a few steps away from Lucia.

Lucia turned swiftly, her expression a mix of surprise and anger. Her heart raced, and adrenaline coursed through her veins as she faced Joseph, her instincts in self-defense still on high alert.

"You scared me! Sneaking up like that," Lucia exclaimed, her voice laced with frustration and a hint of anxiety.

Joseph attempted to collect himself, his expression alternating between pain and a sheepish attempt at reassurance. "I was just trying to surprise you. I didn’t mean any harm," he muttered, still nursing the discomfort in his abdomen.

"Well, it’s not my fault!" Lucia’s breathing steadied as she processed the situation. "And I didn’t appreciate that surprise," she retorted, her tone firm and unwavering.

"Haha! Alright," Joseph replied and took a step forward, raising his hands in a gesture of surrender.

"Let’s cut the chase. Tell me what I came here for," Lucia asked sternly. She wanted to leave quickly, even though they were in public; she wasn’t comfortable with Joseph.

"Heh, that’s boring. Let’s have dinner first," Joseph stated, gesturing for Lucia to follow him.

"No, say it right now," Lucia retorted firmly, resisting Joseph’s attempt to steer the interaction toward something unrelated to the pressing matter at hand.

Despite Lucia’s insistence, Joseph persisted, walking away as if her request was of little consequence.

Lucia stood her ground. She crossed her arms and watched as Joseph looked back and stared at her blankly in disbelief.

"I’m not going anywhere with you until you tell me what you know," Lucia stated firmly, as she didn’t want to prolong her stay.

"I will tell you during dinner. Just come with me and stop being a hard-headed woman," Joseph snapped, his tone turning impatient and slightly confrontational.

"I’ve had enough of your games. If you have something to say, say it right now," Lucia asserted, her voice firm and resolute.

By this time, the people around them kept glancing and whispering to each other. It was like they were watching a drama.

"Just come with me. I already told you, I meant no harm," Joseph sighed in defeat and walked back to Lucia. "Look, I know I might be a d1ck in your eyes, but trust me on this one."

Lucia frowned. She was still doubtful, thinking Joseph would do something to her, but at the same time, she was interested in whether the information he held was vital to her.

"Okay, but if you do some sh^t. I will kill you," Lucia gritted her teeth. Her eyes glared at Joseph to show how serious she was.

"You have the permission to k^ll me. So follow," Joseph sighed and shook his head in annoyance. He started walking and glanced if Lucia was behind him.

Lucia kept a sharp eye on her surroundings, making mental notes of possible escape routes and seeking out names of nearby streets. She was determined to ensure her safety and readiness in case the situation turned for the worse.

After a while, Lucia saw a gigantic building full of golden lights sparkling through their enormous windows.

"We are here," Joseph announced with a grin on his face.

"Are you sure?" Lucia asked with a raised eyebrow. She knew Joseph wasn’t that rich and the restaurant he wanted to enter was high-class.

The place’s grandeur didn’t align with Lucia’s expectations, raising suspicions about Joseph’s motives.

"I am very sure," Joseph replied, extending his hand to hold Lucia and testing his luck to her.

"I don’t think so," Lucia responded firmly, refusing Joseph’s attempt to hold her hand, her wariness growing as she maintained her distance.
