Chapter 471: The Newspaper
Babi woke up in her own apartment. She sat up and grabbed her head since a heavy headache was blasting her brain out.
"Ugh, did I just have a horrible nightmare?" Babi whispered while forcing her body to stand up. She felt her joints and muscles on her body were in pain and screamed the need for rest, but she thought it was because she overslept.
Babi took a step, but she immediately faced the floor with a loud stud.
"F^ck! What’s happening to me?" Babi muttered as she tried to stand but realized she had no energy.
In the end, Babi decided to crawl up to her bed. That was when she saw herself in the mirror placed before her.
Babi saw how thin and malnourished she was. The beauty she cared the most vanished in her face, and that made her scream in shock.
"AHHHHH!!!! IT’S REAL!" Babi was horrified by her appearance, and that was enough to know her ’nightmare’ was her reality.
Babi saw a letter on the bedside table. She hurriedly took it and read its content.
"That woman!" Babi gritted her teeth as the letter contained all the dark secrets she had kept and threatened by Lucia. She crumpled the letter in pure anger and had the urge to plan her revenge.
On the other side, Lucia smiled innocently at the customers going in and out of her flower shop. It was instead a busy day, and she didn’t even have time to eat lunch.
The sun slowly went down, and the moon shined in the sky. The lights in each building started to light up the streets as business still went on.
Lucia closed her shop. She was supposed to rest, but she dropped that idea.
"Turizer Farm... I need to know everything," Lucia whispered to herself as she went to the closest newspaper shop. She browsed every section to see anything related to the farm, as it was the biggest one in the city.
"Are you searching for something, young lady?" the seller, who was an old man, leaned forward to see what Lucia was looking for.
"Ah, it’s nothing," Lucia replied with a soft smile. She began rereading the titles, but the seller continued bugging her.
"I can help you. Tell me, how old are you?" the old man asked with a knowing smile as he leaned closer from the counter. His waist was already out, and he looked like he was about to fall.
"What does my age have to do with the newspaper?" Lucia asked with a frown. She became irritated by how he tried to get closer to her.
"A man like me who has a successful business needs a young woman by my side," the old man stated, telling the purpose of his advances and it disgusted Lucia.
Lucia closed the newspaper and put it back in its original place. She didn’t say a word as she deemed him unworthy of her saliva. She was about to leave when the old man grabbed her hand to stop her.
"Where do you think you’re going!?" the old man yelled. His ego was destroyed after Lucia rejected him, and he didn’t like it.
"Sir, you are closer to 75. I bet your d1ck can’t even stand up straight!" Lucia shouted, making sure the other customers and passersby heard her statement.
"You... you... you b^tch! Who do you think you are!?" the old man was horrified at what he heard. It was the first time in his life that a lady said rude words in his face.
Lucia rolled her eyes and flicked her arm to get away, but the old man was stronger than he looked. His grip tightened over her, and it hurt.
"Leave me alone!" Lucia screamed and looked around, but they just looked at her as entertainment for their dull days.
"A rude girl like you needs discipline," the old man yanked Lucia toward him and was about to grab her waist when he was pushed back forcefully.
"Stop your harassment," a deep voice spoke angrily.
"Joseph!" Lucia called upon seeing a familiar face.
Joseph smiled at Lucia but kept his attention on the old man.
"I’m not harassing her! I’m the owner of this shop, and I have the right to do whatever I want when you’re in my territory!" the old man screamed and slammed his fists on the counter.
The other customers, especially the ladies, became anxious and frightened of the old man’s behavior. They went away while whispering gossip to one another.
"What a twisted logic," Joseph muttered angrily. He was about to argue when Lucia pulled him away. "W-wait!" he said but got ignored.
"Cowards! Don’t come back here again!" the old man continued yelling while waving his fist at them.
"Drink your milk, grandpa!" Joseph replied loudly while being dragged.
The crowd laughed amusingly as they heard Joseph’s words, which made the old man even angrier.
Lucia stopped walking after they were far from the old man and faced Joseph with a frown. "You don’t have to butt into my business," she stated sternly.
"I’m not the type of person to ignore someone when they need help," Joseph replied and crossed his arms. He expected a ’thank you’ from Lucia, but it seemed it was his fault.
"That kind of mindset will only bring you harm in the future," Lucia sighed while shaking her head. She didn’t want Joseph to get involved since that old man might be one of the members that hunted young girls in the city, and those who stood in their way would vanish or become a corpse.
"Haha! I’m not that weak," Joseph replied playfully. He rolled his sleeves and flexed, showing his muscles.
"Ugh," Lucia rolled her eyes in annoyance. She turned her back and started walking away. She still needed to continue her search about the farm.
"What are you up to? I am free today," Joseph informed with a grin.
Lucia stopped walking and wanted to reject Joseph’s offer, but after thinking about it. She decided to use him to look around for faster information gathering.
