Chapter 459: The Tavern’s Mate
Gastone looked at the tavern with squinted eyes. Somehow, he didn’t like the vibe, but he was always not fond of pubs in the first place.
They entered the place and were greeted by she-wolves in tight and skimpy clothes that barely covered their skin.
Inside, the place had a huge chandelier at the center and a massive staircase going upstairs with thirty rooms in total. That was how big the building was.
"It’s beautiful, right?" Navin stated with satisfaction.
"They must have spent tens of boxes of gold coins to build this place," Gastone muttered since it reeks of money. He was thankful Navin would be the one paying, or else a huge chunk of his savings would vanish.
"I’m sure money flows like a river," Jorge stated nonchalantly.
A waitress approached them, who, to their surprise, wore decent clothes. She gestured for them to follow her and gave them a nice seat beside the wall.
"Have you been here before, Navin?" Gastone asked with squinted eyes.
"Ah... Haha! I did it before in their old place, but my girlfriend got mad at me. This is the first time I visited their new location," Navin replied with a sad sigh.
"She will get mad upon knowing you went here again," Jorge replied, furrowing his brow.
"She won’t! Haha, I’m here with a group anyway. Also, she won’t know if I don’t tell her. That’s just simple," Navin stated, shrugging it off.
Jorge rolled his eyes in annoyance at Navin’s behavior, while Gastone didn’t care as his focus was on the menu.
There were massive of different drinks being served. Along with that, there were snacks as well.
Gastone wasn’t that hungry, so he ordered juice instead. His eyes wandered around with the wolves serving, and some of them had numbers pinned in their clothes.
Then, Gastone noticed some customers going upstairs with the staff with them.
"This is a nice setup. There’s room for drunkards who can’t come home due to how intoxicated they are," Gastone stated out of nowhere.
Navin immediately burst laughing while Jorge remained silent.
"Well, yes, but it has other uses," Navin replied. He smiled and pushed the menu to Gastone while pointing at a specific drink.
It was a special drink from the tavern, but it wasn’t different from any other drink.
"Heaven’s drink. What is it about?" Gastone asked in confusion. He wanted to know what was so special about it.
"How about you try it instead to know what it was?" Navin replied with a grin.
That time, Jorge interfered. "Lord Gastone has a mate, in case you forgot," he said irritably.
"But she already left him! What’s the use of being loyal?" Navin argued.
After that, they had a heated argument, throwing different reasons on both sides.
On the other hand, Gastone remained silent and listened to their conversation. He felt he was slapped by reality by how they judged their relationship.
But that made Gastone realize what the beverage was for. He observed those who ordered the drink, seeing them write something on the bill and a woman with a certain number coming to them with a glass at hand, guiding them toward upstairs.
"Interesting," Gastone muttered while looking ahead. He never had been with a prost1tute before and was curious what it was like to be one.
Prior to meeting Lucia, Gastone would readily agree, but now, he was conflicted. He felt it was wrong to do so, significantly that he didn’t entirely cut ties with her.
"What do you think, Lord Gastone?" Navin asked after they were done arguing.
"Huh?" Gastone looked at the two knights in confusion. He didn’t even listen to their words as his thoughts revolved around Lucia.
"Do you want to get laid? I believe our friend here needs to stop being grumpy at all!" Navin rolled his eyes in annoyance.
"I’m not desperate for a pussy," Jorge replied while shaking his head.
A waitress returned with their ordered drinks and snacks. She glanced at each man until her eyes landed on Gastone.
"My number is five. If anyone is interested," she stated, but only looked at Gastone, showing her interest.
"We will remember," Navin replied with a joyful smile, but he was ignored.
Gastone acted as if he didn’t see the woman flirting with him. His face remained stoic, shifting his eyes on the other side.
The woman was hurt by the silent treatment since she was used to getting attention from men most of the time. She slowly retreated back with teary eyes.
"You made a girl cry," Navin whispered while shaking his head. He took his glass and began drinking, snacking on the side.
It was a typical tavern without any difference from other cheap ones.
After a few minutes, Gastone wanted to leave since there was nothing that excited him there, and he had no plans to f^ck other she-wolves.
"I’ll go ahead first," Gastone stated, standing up as all he wanted was to take a nap.
"Wait! You haven’t watched the main event for the night yet," Navin pouted.
"I’ll leave too," Jorge said, standing up to follow Gastone.
"Wait, you two! It’s already starting. Besides, don’t you want to see pretty girls dancing?" Navin asked, desperately stopping them from leaving.
"I’m not interested in prost1tutes," Jorge stated sternly. His patience was running down by Navin’s persuasiveness.
Just then, the lights went off as a strong wind passed by. Then, the center stage candles lit up, and standing there was a beautiful wolf. Behind her was a pole to be used for dancing.
The woman had black hair and vibrant honey-colored eyes. Her skin was sun-kissed, and the golden clothes with beads she wore made her features shine.
All attention was on her, but she kept her eyes on the floor. Nobody gave a damn about her facial expressions since the focus was on her body and the movement she made.
"Ah, the event finally started! What a nice timing," Navin chuckled, staring at Gastone and Jorge and was glad they were watching.
But little did they know something else happened.
Jorge stormed out of the tavern in a hurry. Rage could be seen in his facial expression.
"Jorge!" Navin shouted in concern. It was the first time he had seen his friend react so much.
Gastone thought Jorge went out due to his dislike of prost1tute. So he followed him.
"My Lord," Navin called out. He wanted to stay and watch the end of the performance, but he wasn’t at ease.
"You can stay," Gastone stated before leaving.
"O-okay! I will leave after the performance!" Navin shouted and brought his priority back on the stage.
When Gastone went out. He saw Jorge running as fast as he could. "What’s the matter with him?" he muttered.
Gastone continued walking while staring at Jorge’s figure, slowly disappearing from his sight. Somehow, he felt something was wrong, and his feet immediately ran to catch up.
It was hard for Gastone to reach Jorge, but he didn’t stop. That changed when Gastone bumped into a drunk man, and his body was thrown a meter away.
"Jorge!" Gastone yelled. He ran as fast as he could and stopped when he was close.
Jorge was rolling on the ground. His eyes were swelling with tears.
"What the heck! Watch where you’re going!" the drunk man shouted and started kicking Jorge on his back.
Jorge didn’t fight back. He accepted every beating that came his way.
Gastone pinched the bridge of his nose due to the upcoming stress. He took a single gold coin from his pocket and handed it to the drunk man.
"Go and leave this man alone," Gastone stated nonchalantly. He wanted to end it in an easier and faster way with money rather than making a scene by beating the man when it’s Jorge’s fault in the first place.
"Ah! Y-yes! Of course! I already forgive him!" the drunk man’s angry expression changed, and he looked like a puppy waiting for its master for a treat.
Gastone gave him the gold coin and watched him leave before attending to Jorge.
"Why are you acting like you have gone through a heavy break-up?" Gastone asked and sighed deeply. He crouched down and looked at Jorge’s face.
It was good since fewer people were in that street, and others were too drunk to give them attention.
"The Moon Goddess hates me," Jorge whispered as another tear fell to his cheeks.
Gastone pursed his lips and sat on the ground. He chuckled since he couldn’t do similar things when he was a royal. The new experience made him sigh at the feeling of freedom.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Gastone asked softly. He stared at the moon instead of Jorge’s crying face to lessen the embarrassment.
"That dancer... is my mate," Jorge whispered and covered his eyes with his arms.
Gastone’s face hardened. He knew how Jorge disliked prost1tutes and taverns in general, and seeing his mate for the first time in that place blew his mind.
"The Moon Goddess really works wickedly nowadays," Gastone sighed while shaking his head in disapproval. After all, he had a human mate to which both should not mix.
