Chapter 458: The Woman’s Handkerchief

After 58 minutes, Gastone’s group finally entered the restaurant. It was buzzing inside, and the chatters were nonstop.

Gastone settled on a chair for four people, even though they were only three.

"Wow, this place is fully packed inside!" Navin exclaimed in amazement.

Gastone paid no attention to his surroundings and immediately checked the menu. Since the restaurant focused on roasted meat selection, the menu barely had any vegetables.

Gastone’s brow twitched upon seeing the price. It was far more expensive than he expected it to be. He wanted to go out and eat on the streets instead, but the smell made him addicted.

"I’ll order the famous one on the menu," Gastone stated and called the waiter.

Jorge had decided as well, except Navin, who frantically searched for something he could afford.

"Ah, man! I wish I could bring my girlfriend here," Navin sighed deeply.

Gastone glanced at Navin and recalled his situation. "Are you willing to reject your mate’s connection for your girlfriend?" he asked.

Navin opened his mouth to speak, but he didn’t know what to say. "Well, it depends on who I love the most. After all, she’s still missing on my life, haha," he explained, pertaining to his mate.

"That means you’re using your current girlfriend as a replacement while your mate was still out there," Jorge stated nonchalantly. He always disliked Navin’s handling of his affairs but gave no sh^t about it.

"Don’t say something like that! It sounds so bad," Navin pouted with a teary expression.

Jorge slowly diverted his gaze away as he didn’t want to deal with Navin’s sulking.

The waiter came around, and they placed their meal in different checks. It took another 30 minutes before their food arrived, and throughout that time, their stomach was grumbling with hunger.

Gastone looked at the newly roasted gigantic meat before him. He could still see the heat sizzling above with smoke coming from the surface.

"That looks so good!" Navin exclaimed upon seeing Gastone’s order. He glanced at his, and it looked pathetic compared to the big plate Gastone had.

Gastone didn’t say a word before slicing several pieces of meat and placing them on Navin and Jorge’s plates. He began eating, and immediately, his taste buds exploded from how tasteful it was.

"Wow. I never knew something like this existed here!" Gastone exclaimed and couldn’t help but take a few more tiny bites. He was still trying to be decent and eat like a royal with table manners, even though he was so hungry he could devour an entire cow.

"Yeah! I can’t stop eating your meat!" Navin’s eyes sparkled upon swallowing Gastone’s meat. It was far tastier than his food.

Navin and Jorge ate in a way noble would deem disgusting or didn’t fit the etiquette criteria.

Gastone grimaced, but he was the one acting strange before the crowd. They all eat as if it was their last meal that day. That made him stare at the meat on his plate.

Gastone put his knife and fork on the side and held the bone to his mouth. He was hesitant, but he wanted to do it.

Navin and Jorge’s eyes widened after seeing Gastone eating the way ordinary wolves did, especially when hunger struck.

"My Lord," Navin gasped and watched each movement Gastone took.

"Just eat, Navin," Jorge smacked Navin’s head on the back after seeing a slight embarrassment on Gastone’s side.

"That hurts, you know," Navin pouted before continuing to eat his own food while looking down.

Gastone glanced at Jorge and gave him a small smile before taking a full bite. The juices rolled over his lips, down to his chin. He was about to wipe it when someone did it for him.

"Aren’t you a clumsy one," a woman stated seductively before dropping her handkerchief on Gastone’s hips. She was about to touch Gastone’s shoulder, but he evaded her like a plaque.

"What do you think you’re doing?" Gastone was flabbergasted at the unwanted touch from a stranger.

The woman smiled, winked and left them alone before going to another seat at the back.

"Wow, that’s a bold she-wolf right there," Navin commented while nodding his head. He liked confident women.

"And I don’t like it," Gastone replied sternly. That ruined his whole mood. He didn’t even notice the handkerchief in his lap due to how annoyed he was and continued eating until he forgot about it.

After a couple more minutes, their plates were empty, and all they left was a pile of bones. They paid their bills individually and went up to leave.

Gastone saw the handkerchief fell. He immediately took it, thinking it was from the restaurant and brought it with him. He heard some giggles, glancing back, and saw the same woman looking at him.

"My Lord," Jorge called and went beside Gastone. He glanced at the woman and glared at her, showing his dislike for her behavior.

"Leave her," Gastone muttered before leaving in a hurry. He didn’t want to acknowledge her presence any longer.

"Well... Tavern time?" Navin asked with a grin. He rubbed his hands together while teasingly reminding Gastone of the plan.

"Alright," Gastone sighed. He felt defeated, and he didn’t want to hear another complaint from Navin.

Jorge shook his head in amusement but followed. "Good thing we ate so we won’t get drunk easily," he stated.

"Mhmm!" Navin grinned wider. His excitement was visible on his face, and skipped while he led them to the place.

"This tavern was moderately famous before, back in the commoner’s area, but it grew bigger after a negative impact happened there. At first, customers barely came, but they were curious. Customers started pouring in, and now, everyone goes to the most famous tavern! I even heard some knights saying they saw Her Majesty in there, but I doubt if that’s true," Navin added and laughed loudly.

"Maybe Her Majesty buys drinks in there. Who knows what they are up to," Jorge replied nonchalantly to keep the conversation going.

"Haha! Yeah, royals are sometimes weird. You don’t know what goes into their mind! Haha!" Navin laughed and spoke his thoughts. It wasn’t hidden that some wolves thought royals and nobles had mental problems based on their unusual decisions and ways.

Jorge didn’t reply and glanced at Gastone. He wanted to smack Navin’s head for being too comfortable without thinking Gastone was still a noble even though he was stripped down as a royal.

Gastone’s jaw clinched, not because he felt offended, but because it was too funny. He had heard about knights and servants judging a royal’s rules, but he shrugged it off, thinking they knew nothing better than them.

Hearing it directly made it even more funnier.

Navin froze after noticing the silence behind him. It finally sunk into his mind about the words he had stated with Gastone in the background. Aside from that, he was walking in front, completely forgetting his task.

"My Lord," Navin gulped and slowly glanced at Gastone, who had a stoic expression since he had been suppressing his laughter.

Navin gasped and immediately knew his mistake. He knelt down on his knees and bowed his head. "I deserve punishment!" he exclaimed.

The people around looked at them and started gossiping. It was a sight to see but made Gastone embarrassed.

"Stand up," Gastone whispered. He didn’t want the attention they were currently receiving.

"My Lord, I have made a terrible mistake!" Navin lowered his head even more to show his sincerity.

Gastone sighed in defeat. He grabbed Navin’s collar and dragged him away while gesturing for Jorge to follow.

"Pay for our drinks, and I will forgive you," Gastone smirked, finding out he could use that opportunity to save money after spending a lot back on the roasted meat.

"I..." Navin paused and thought of it for a seconds. He weighed the pros and cons, but ultimately, he agreed.

Gastone freed Navin, and they continued walking toward the tavern, which was a bit of a walk in that area. Upon entering the streets of alcohol and sex, the smell was intoxicating.

"It’s too much aphrodisiac here," Gastone commented while pinching his nose. His lungs were still adjusting to the new air environment.

"Haha! Because all the taverns and brothels were transferred into this place to avoid commotion to other stores," Navin explained the history. Business owners complained about drunk wolves vandalizing, puking, and harassing their customers 24/7, and it hurt their income.

"I see. That is actually a good arrangement. All chaos will only happen in one location," Gastone replied, glancing toward the roaming knights tasked to guard the place and prevent severe violence.

"Why has the tavern become extremely famous again?" Gastone asked in curiosity. He wasn’t interested in the backstory, but Navin kept him hanging.

"Well... they found a dead body in one of the rooms, and it’s not just a plain dead one, but it looks as if all the blood was drained. Some say the body seemed to be dead for ages, but that person was seen alive that day. The case was still unsolved, but people forgot about it, and it only remained a history that boosted the tavern’s income," Navin explained enthusiastically.

Navin stopped and pointed at a gigantic building with different colored lights hanging on the walls. "Heaven’s Tavern. That’s the one," he said.
