Chapter 442: The Old Lady

A letter arrived that day, which Navin received and gave to Gastone. It was from the Palace.

Gastone looked at the letter in hand. He trembled a little but kept it hidden. He was nervous at its content since it was about Lucia.

"Will you be alright? Lord," Navin asked upon sensing Gastone uneasiness.

"Yes, why won’t I?" Gastone asked before turning around and left. He went to the forest to cool down instead of the house, where he could see Lucia.

Gastone slowly opened the envelope, ensuring there was no hidden paper again. He opened the letter, which revealed Draco’s handwriting.

[ I don’t want my mate, Rosina, to open the portal since she’s focusing on our child. It will exhaust her energy further, but don’t cry. She sends you an item which can open the portal three times. To get the item, please lick the rose below. Use it well. ]

Gastone’s mouth twitched at how informal Draco’s letter was to him.

"This guy is so carefree," Gastone sighed. He stared at the rose printed at the bottom of the paper. He was hesitant to lick since it looked stup1d and wondered if Draco was sh^tting on him.

Gastone imagined Draco’s menacing, evil laughter while writing the letter to him.

"As long as nobody sees me," Gastone whispered. He cringed before leaning on the paper and licked the rose print. It tasted salty and plain horrible.

That was when Gastone smelled Lucia’s scent coming close.

"What are you doing?" Lucia asked upon seeing Gastone’s face kissing a paper. She smiled tightly in awkwardness before looking around to avoid the embarrassing situation.

Gastone froze with eyes looking widely at Lucia. His body trembled uncontrollably as if he was a criminal being caught doing illegal acts.

"Lucia!" Gastone exclaimed and hid the letter behind him. He smiled tightly and acted usually as if he wasn’t seen making out with a piece of paper.

"Ah, I went here because Sir Navin said you have a problem..." Lucia whispered. She bit her lips to prevent laughing, but she couldn’t help it. She turned around to avoid Gastone from looking at her face.

"That man!" Gastone gritted his teeth in annoyance. He sighed before shaking his head to focus on the essential matters.

"Is something wrong?" Lucia asked in concern. She thought it was about Gastone’s personal life and wanted to be there emotionally to support him.

Gastone became silent for a minute. He showed the letter to Lucia but didn’t let her read it because of how Draco phrased his words.

"What is that?" Lucia asked and stepped closer.

"Well... You can leave today if you want," Gastone replied and sighed deeply. He offered a gentle smile before tapping Lucia’s shoulder and walking away.

"Wait! What do you mean by today? I thought it was tomorrow!?" Lucia exclaimed in panic. She ran toward Gastone and yanked his arms back.

"Then you should be grateful. You can pack your bags now," Gastone stated before shrugging Lucia’s hands away and leaving faster.

Gastone wanted to scream and imprison Lucia to prevent her from departing, but he couldn’t. That would only make their relationship worse.

"I..." Lucia opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. She didn’t know how to react since she wanted it in the first place and should be happy that she could leave in advance.

Lucia watched Gastone’s figure vanish from the forest. That was the time when tears streamed down from Lucia’s face. She couldn’t help but feel sad that it was going to end.

"Why are you crying, dear?" an old, cranky voice spoke behind Lucia, followed by a series of steps.

Lucia flinched, and goosebumps appeared on her skin. She didn’t look back and immediately ran to avoid whoever spoke to her. She remembered the time she got lost in the forest, which traumatized her a bit, especially the face of the old woman.

"AHHHH!" Lucia screamed in fear. She tried to be silent but needed to let it out, or else she would faint.

"Lady!" Navin yelled upon hearing Lucia’s scream. Their instinct immediately became protective to fight whoever made Lucia terrified.

Lucia saw Navin and Jorge running towards her. That made her sigh in relief. She stopped before them and caught her breath.

"What’s the matter, Lady Lucia?" Navin and Jorge asked in unison. Their faces were sketched with concern.

"An old woman. Ah! Wait!" Lucia exclaimed while trying to settle her breath. Her heart was beating loudly while pointing in the forest’s direction.

"What’s in there?" Jorge asked further to gather enough information before striking.

On the other hand, Navin ran to their table and grabbed a glass of water for Lucia. He gave it and watched her gulp the water in one go.

"I heard the old lady’s voice. She’s back again!" Lucia explained and went behind them for protection while wiping her face.

"Huh? What old lady?" Navin asked in confusion. After all, their location was far from the other towns. It was a secluded place, so strangers coming there would be unusual.

"Yes, the old lady came last time, too, and she crept me out! Wah!" Lucia cried out upon remembering her last encounter with the old woman who called herself ’Grandma’.

Navin and Jorge looked at one another. They mind linked to avoid speaking their conversations out loud.

’We should check the perimeters,’ Jorge linked.

’Yes, Lady Lucia said it happened again. This might be the second time that old lady she talked about visiting,’ Navin replied with a stern expression.

Lucia pursed her lips while looking at the two men staring at one another intensely. That made her curious, but most of all, her mind drifted if Navin and Jorge were lovers.

"Lady Lucia, please come with me. If it’s alright with you, I want to know the whole story behind this old lady," Navin grinned and gestured for Lucia to settle on their makeshift table.

"Umm, sure," Lucia agreed and followed Navin.

Jorge and Navin made eye contact and nodded at each other. Jorge went to the forest to check the area for possible trespassers that could possibly be their new enemy.
