Chapter 426: The Argument

Chapter 426: The Argument

Two days had passed since what had happened in the new town, but Lucia and Gastone remained in silent treatment.

Lucia hadn’t talked to Gastone after being unable to gain enough courage to apologize and tell him about her plan to live independently.

Gastone was only waiting for Lucia to speak to him since he was hurt at how she escaped without a word and it hurt his ego. For him, he had done his best for her, but it all seemed worthless.

Jorge and Navin continued their ’job’ as workers, but they increased their security for Lucia in case she repeated things again.

"I can’t take this anymore. It’s suffocating!" Lucia shouted in frustration. She wanted it to be cleared as fast as possible. She gathered enough strength to stride toward Gastone’s room to confront him.

Lucia didn’t knock and opened the door, but no one was there.

"Huh? Where is he?" Lucia muttered and went to the other places in the house, but Gastone was nowhere to be found.

In the end, Lucia decided to go outside where Jorge was waiting for her with hawk eyes.

"Umm, hi. Do you know where Gastone went? I can’t find him," Lucia muttered nicely.

Jorge didn’t say a word and gestured toward the forest direction.

"Thank you," Lucia replied awkwardly and started walking. She noticed Jorge following her behind but didn’t say anything about it. Her focus was to converse with Gastone to end it all.

The forest wasn’t that thick, and the bushes were spread apart, but there were more trees than usual. Their roots appeared above ground and could make you trip if you remained unfocused on where you were walking.

Lucia shivered when the cold air hit her skin. She glanced around and felt creepy walking further into the forest.

"Are there... wild animals around here?" Lucia asked to create a conversation since the silence was deafening.

"Depends on what kind of animals we are talking about," Jorge replied with a smirk.

Lucia stopped walking and looked at Jorge with fear in her eyes. She was scared of larger animals since she was small and tiny, which made her feel intimidated.

"Ah... Are there..." Lucia paused when all her body hairs stood up after hearing a low growl from behind.

"Wh-what is that?" Lucia whispered. Her legs shook and weakened, but she did her best to stay still.

Jorge, on the other hand, was staring at Lucia with motionless eyes. He glanced upward where Gastone in his wolf form gazed at them.

Gastone shifted back into his human form and put on some shorts. He went on a short run with Navin to relax his mind from overthinking. He didn’t expect Lucia to come deeper into the forest to search for him.

"What are you doing here?" Gastone asked sternly while walking toward Lucia.

"G-gastone!" Lucia exclaimed in shock upon seeing him, but her eyes were focused on his toned abdominal muscles.

Gastone glanced at Jorge and Navin, gesturing for them to go as he wanted privacy with Lucia.

"What are you doing here in the forest?" Gastone repeated the question while looking down at Lucia.

"I-I came to see you," Lucia replied nonchalantly. She looked up and was hooked by Gastone’s electric blue eyes.

"Hmm," Gastone hummed. He crossed his arms, which made his chest bigger. "Speak," he commanded sternly.

Lucia gulped and looked away. The words she practiced in her mind vanished while standing before Gastone’s half-naked body.

Gastone waited. He expected Lucia to apologize for her mistake and promised not to do it again.

"I want to leave," Lucia stated firmly and looked at Gastone’s eyes. She had so many things to say to cover up her intention, but in the end, she could only say those words.

Gastone’s mouth hung open in shock as he didn’t expect her to say that. His breath hitched while processing the situation between them.

"Why?" Gastone whispered softly. He wanted to know the reason behind Lucia’s decision.

"I-I always want to live my life independently. I want to have my own house, a land and do everything I ever want in my life. I stayed here because you saved me and offered me a job, but I can’t do it anymore!" Lucia shouted while venting out her emotions.

"Are you saying, I’m not enough," Gastone replied with a frown.

"No! What I’m saying is... That I can’t live with this constant overprotective manner you have! I want to have my own freedom that’s why I want to leave. I want to go back home!" Lucia reasoned out with tears in her eyes. She was delighted to confront Gastone about her own feelings and thoughts.

"I did everything for you and this is how you treat me?" Gastone asked in disbelief. He turned around and rubbed his face to control his raging wolf inside.

"I’m sorry if I caused trouble, but that won’t happen if you just let me roam around on my own!" Lucia gritted her teeth.

"All I want is to protect you," Gastone muttered softly. His rage made him physically weak as his disappointment grew stronger.

"Protect me from who? From what!? This is all nonsense!" Lucia shouted and scratched her hair. Her throat hurt from all the screaming, but she didn’t care.

Lucia smiled as she finally spoke everything she ever wanted, but somehow, she felt incomplete and irritated by how Gastone reacted to her. It wasn’t the same as she imagined it to be.

"I understand," Gastone breathed deeply and looked back at Lucia again. "You ungrateful brat don’t deserve me and everything I can possibly offer!" he shouted and took a step forward.

"Why are you shouting at me!?" Lucia screamed and stepped back. She could feel the change in Gastone’s demeanor and she didn’t like it.

"Oh, my goddess!" Gastone became frustrated and punched the nearby tree as hard as he could. Since he was far stronger than average human beings, his punch put a dent in the trunk.

"Kyah!" Lucia screamed and flinched in fright. She watched Gastone with shaking eyes and how his fist bleed.

"You want to leave? Fine! I’ll have Navin escorted you out of here!" Gastone gritted his teeth and growled before walking away from Lucia.
