Lucia weighted the pouch in her hand. They had already bought enough food supply to last them for two weeks. She was surprised that Gastone gave her his money without hesitation.

"Do you have anything you like to buy?" Gastone asked with anticipation. He wanted to hear what Lucia liked so he could use it as a reference.

"Hmm, I don’t have anything in mind at the moment," Lucia replied with a shrug but then drawn to her that she could use that opportunity.

"Okay," Gastone replied sadly with slumped shoulders.

"Ah! I actually want something!" Lucia exclaimed immediately. She faced Gastone with determination in her eyes.

"What is it? Tell me?" Gastone replied with interest. He beamed at her, waiting for a reply.

"I... I... uh," Lucia’s brain malfunctioned and couldn’t think of anything else. All she wanted to scream was her desire to leave, but she couldn’t.

"Well, I want to surprise you since you’re too good to me. Can I have my advance salary as your cook?" Lucia stated and handed Gastone his pouch back.

"Huh?" Gastone was confused since, in the end, it was about him. "You don’t have to give me anything. I’m fine, and for your salary, I hope this is enough," he stated and gave Lucia five gold coins.

"Woah! That’s expensive for a cook!" Navin exclaimed in amazement after seeing how much Gastone paid Lucia.

"Shut it," Gastone sneered at Navin. If possible, he wanted to give Lucia all the money he had with him, but that would make it suspicious.

Lucia glanced at Navin and realized the gold coins had more value than others. She was taking a few steps to learn more about the place she was in to gain more knowledge. So she could survive independently by the time she was ready to leave.

"Okay, thank you!" Lucia grinned with delight. She turned around and was about to leave when Gastone pulled her by her cloak.

"I told you not to stay away from me," Gastone whispered aggressively while glancing around.

"But... Can I just please buy the stuff I want on my own?" Lucia asked, and she hated it. Her mind was full of questions about why Gastone acted like a parent to her, and his strictness was a turn-off.

"Ugh!" Gastone groaned in annoyance and rubbed his face. He wanted to scream that she was a human in a Werewolf world and that her mere presence could cause him trouble. At the same time, he could sense Lucia was moving away from him emotionally, and he didn’t want that.

"Please," Lucia stepped forward, grabbed Gastone’s hand and placed it near her face. Her eyes twinkled like a puppy while trying to gain his good side.

Gastone gasped in shock as it was the first time Lucia had done it to him. His heart skipped a beat, and he couldn’t meet her eyes.

"G-go. Do what you want, but bring Navin with you," Gastone replied, turning around while hiding his face with his other hand.

Navin stepped forward with a grin. "I’ll accompany you safely!" he stated, gesturing for Lucia to proceed.

Gastone breathed deeply while watching his mate move away with him. He wanted to secretly tag along but didn’t want to break her trust if she ever found out about it.

"It’s fine. I’ll just look around," Gastone whispered to comfort himself. He went to the fruit stall and looked for strawberries. He peacefully searched for a good fruit when he felt a burning feeling on his chin. He looked up and saw an old lady looking at him.

"What a handsome man," the old lady stated with a grin. He handed Gastone an apple, which looked ripened and juicy. "I have something for you. Take it," she said eagerly.

Gastone felt chills running down his spine. He was attracted to the apple, but the way the old woman presented him gave him an ick.

"It’s alright," Gastone waved his hand in dismissal. He stepped back and left, but before he turned his full attention away, he saw the woman sneering at him.

Gastone didn’t know why, but he got a bad feeling about it. The first thing that came into his mind was Lucia, and he needed to find her immediately.

On the other hand, Lucia was glancing at Navin. She wanted him gone and was finding a way to distract him, but little did she know Navin knew about it.

"What do you fancy, Lady Lucia?" Navin asked with a smile. He leaned closer and looked at the set of handkerchiefs from the table. They were currently standing in one stall with the crowd.

"Everything is cheap! Only five silver coins each!" the seller shouted while enticing Lucia to buy his product. "These are made with fine silk. I’m sure you’ll love it!" he added.

Lucia was not listening, as her focus was on Navin. "Why are you here anyway? Don’t Gastone need you more than me?" she asked with a frown.

"My duty is to keep an eye on you, Lady," Navin smiled and pointed at the handkerchiefs. "I’m sure Lord Gastone will love that kind of gift from you," he added.

"Yes, it’s a great gift for a gentleman!" the seller stated and proceeded to talk about colors that suited a man, but again, he was ignored.

"Why? He can buy anything he wants," Lucia rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. She looked at the handkerchiefs and picked a random one that caught her attention.

"Of course, but the thought matters," Navin stated with a shrug. He turned his back to avoid pressuring Lucia. He had done his part to help boost Gastone and Lucia’s relationship a little.

"Ah, could you buy something for me? A... uh, perfume," Lucia stated and handed Navin a single gold coin. It was her way to separate from him.

"Apologize, Lady Lucia, but that kind of scheme doesn’t work on me. Also, we can buy the perfume together," Navin gave an innocent smile, which got on Lucia’s nerves.
