Chapter 421: The Owner

Gastone woke up and realized it was late in the afternoon. He fell asleep after he came and felt his body regain strength.

"I should take a bath," Gastone muttered and sat up. He rubbed his eyes and unconsciously reached for the dirty tissues beside his bed, but they were no longer there, to his surprise.

"Huh, where did they go?" Gastone muttered in confusion and glanced at his trashcan, which seemed to have fewer tissues inside.

Gastone frowned and tried to recall if he had thrown his trash away, but nothing.

"Ah, maybe I just forgot about it," Gastone shrugged. He was about to shower when he smelled Lucia’s fainted scent. He stopped and sniffed around, but it vanished faster than he could follow.

Gastone became more confused, but the more he thought of it, the more it didn’t make sense. So he went to shower and get dressed, as he wanted to take a short run to the forest.

As Gastone left the house, he saw Navin munching some apples on the side.

"Ah, Lord. Your mate goes to explore the forest. Jorge is with her in case something happens," Navin explained to prevent Gastone from panicking if he realized Lucia was nowhere nearby.

"What!?" Gastone shouted and ran straight to the forest. Upon knowing that Lucia was far from him, he became agitated. He wanted her to stay by his side or close to him no matter what to keep her safe most of the time.

"My Lord!" Navin shouted and ran behind Gastone to catch up with him. His plan failed, making Gastone run as if his life depended on it.

"LUCIA!" Gastone shouted and used his senses to locate Lucia’s location. He followed the scent, and it didn’t take long before he found her sitting by the small pond.

"Lucia!" Gastone breath was raging as he looked at Lucia’s relaxed expression. He glanced at Jorge, who was sitting nearby.

"Si— I mean... G-gastone, what are you doing here?" Lucia asked in confusion since Gastone looked furious at her.

"I would like to ask you the same thing!?" Gastone shouted and walked closer to Lucia. His aura radiated off his pores, making his mate feel threatened by his presence.

"I-I have nothing to do. So I went out to explore the area," Lucia explained softly, trying not to add to Gastone’s anger, but she didn’t understand why he was reacting that way.

"Did you ask for my permission to go out?" Gastone asked sternly. He grabbed Lucia’s shoulder and pulled her close.

"Hah!? Why do I need to ask?" Lucia raised her voice as she didn’t like how she needed to ask to go out since she wasn’t doing anything wrong. She aggressively shrugged her shoulder to get away from Gastone’s touch.

"Because I brought you here!" Gastone shouted as his grip tightened.

Navin and Jorge looked at one another awkwardly. They didn’t want to tangle themselves with the couple and walked a few meters away to give them space.

"That doesn’t mean I need your permission to go anywhere I want. You don’t own me!" Lucia shouted as she wasn’t able to control herself. She gritted her teeth in frustration, feeling she was back in a cage.

"YOU—!" Gastone couldn’t continue, or else he would speak out the truth that Lucia was his mate, which she wouldn’t understand.

Gastone turned his back to avoid looking at Lucia. "Do whatever you want!" he shouted before storming away with heavy steps.

Navin immediately followed behind Gastone while Jorge stayed behind.

"Geez! What’s his problem!?" Lucia sneered and rolled her eyes in annoyance.

"Please forgive Lord Gastone’s reaction. He was only worried about your well-being, and you’re his responsibility," Jorge explained to help calm the situation between them.

"He doesn’t need to be responsible for me. I’m old enough to handle myself," Lucia replied and sat on the ground. She started plucking the grass one by one to vent her anger.

"Well, you’re in a different world now, Lady. Please keep in mind that Lord Gastone only wants to protect you," Jorge stated softly and handed Lucia an apple.

Lucia frowned at the words Jorge had stated. "Lady? I’m not a Lady. You can call me Lucia," she said with a small smile.

"Hmm," Jorge hummed and avoided Lucia’s gaze. He didn’t want to get in trouble if Gastone caught him calling Lucia by her name.

"Also, Why are you calling Gastone a Lord? Is he someone important?" Lucia asked in curiosity. She had the same question to Gastone before, but it remained unanswered.

"Time will tell, Lady Lucia. It’s best if Lord Gastone himself will tell you everything, as it’s not my place to say a word," Jorge replied nonchalantly. He didn’t want to cross the boundaries of his work as a Knight.

"I get it," Lucia sighed and felt there was a deep secret surrounding Gastone, and she became involved. She looked around and noticed a few days ago that no houses were around them. She had also observed Jorge and Navin, who were supposed to be workers, were not really working but instead tagging along wherever Gastone or her went.

"What kind of work are you doing here, Sir? Ah! I haven’t gotten your name yet!" Lucia exclaimed and hurriedly stood up. She went before Jorge and extended his hand. "I am Lucia, and you are?" she added.

"You can call me Jorge, and I’m responsible for hunting... food resources," Jorge replied with a tight smile. He glanced at Lucia’s hand and was hesitant to receive it since his scent would attached to her skin.

"Nice to meet you, Jorge!" Lucia exclaimed and was about to grab Jorge’s hand on her own when he jumped away. "Huh? What’s wrong?" she asked while trying to hide her embarrassment.

"I’m pleased to meet you, Lady Lucia, but I prefer to keep our hands to ourselves," Jorge replied, clearing his throat to drop the awkward topic. "Let’s go back to the house. I’m sure Lord Gastone is waiting for your return," he said, gesturing for Lucia to walk.

Lucia opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. She was bewildered at their behaviors, making her feel uneasy about staying there a bit longer. After all, she had noticed how tall the three men were, and she barely reached their shoulders.
