Chapter 41: The Crescent Markings

Chapter 41: The Crescent Markings

Rosina and Draco remained silent as they went back to their carriage. The ride was awkward and heavy due to Draco’s anger radiating off his body.

"You know, we already signed an agreement. I don’t know why you are reacting that way," Rosina stated and twirled the light pink rose in her hand. Then started plucking each petal one by one.

"Indeed, but what he said was true. There are many snakes everywhere," Draco lowly growled and fisted his hand to suppress his emotion.

"It’s true, but then again, I already signed the contract, which means that I must follow it. Besides, I don’t want a mate for myself too. We’re on the same boat here," Rosina reminded Draco since all the mate things were fake.

"Hmm, do you wanna be close friends then?" Draco stated with a smirk. His mood lightened up, and he returned to his original jerk mode.

"Sure," Rosina agreed. "It’s much better than being strangers bound by a contract."

"Then let’s drink back in the cabin," Draco suggested, and all Rosina could do was agree. After all, her throat was yearning for liquor for wetness.

Draco signaled the coachman to drop them at the cabin, which was also part of his residence. Although it was hidden quite well, nobody would suspect that several crimes had happened there.

"Tell me, Draco. This hidden place of yours, how many dead bodies were buried underneath the ground?" Rosina asked. She was amused at Draco’s cruel and murderous side more than his Cassanova side.

"Well, you can’t say that they are buried," Draco laughed when he saw the spark of interest in Rosina’s eyes. "I’ll show you later."

"Very well. I’ll look forward to it," Rosina grinned and looked out the window where they were getting closer.

After a few minutes, they arrived at the cabin. The coachman opened the door for them.

"You worked well, Sir," Draco stated and patted the coachman’s shoulders while tossing him a single gold coin as a bonus. "You can take a nap. We will be here for a while."

"Yes, Your Highness," the coachman took off the ropes that bound the two horses and tied them to the tree so they would have more freedom of movement while he went back to his seat and took a nap.

"I’ll pour us a glass of wine before giving you a little tour," Draco whispered and went inside the cabin while Rosina followed behind.

The cabin was still the same as last time, but it was a bit clean right now.

Draco went to his mini cellar and took a bottle of red wine and two glasses. He gave the other one to Rosina and poured her glass before leaving the cabin.

"Welcome to the mini tour of Draco’s territory!" Draco exclaimed and twirled around with his hands wide open.

Rosina lifted her glass before taking a sip. "Good wine."

"Indeed," Draco laughed before they proceeded to where Amato’s body was burned last time. The remains of the makeshift oven were still evident, but on top of it has a sprout.

"Do you have any hint about what happened here, dear Rosina?" Draco whispered with a smirk playing on his lips.

Rosina thought for a while. She stared at the ground and toward the nearby trees to find another hint. That was when she noticed that several trees had marks on their branches.

The mark was in the shape of a crescent moon. It was tiny, and anyone who wasn’t observant wouldn’t notice those marks.

Rosina looked back at Draco, who was waiting for her to answer, but she wanted to play his game. "If I answered correctly, what would be my prize?"

"Clever," Draco chuckled with amusement. "Tell me, what do you want?"

"Access, I want direct access to the pack’s city and enjoy my social life," Rosina answered immediately since she didn’t want to bother crawling into the secret hole whenever she wanted to go out and taste another c0ck.

"Hmm," Draco’s eyes squinted in suspicion. "Is this related to the time you get home drunk?"

"Doesn’t matter. It’s in our contract not to mind each other’s affairs," Rosina smiled and waited for Draco’s approval. She made sure to memorize the contract agreement so that she could use them at the right time.

"Okay, I agree with what you want. I’ll arrange it later if you answer my question correctly," Draco leaned on the tree and took a sip of his wine. He was having fun at that moment.

"What do you think happened here?"

"Well, that sprout grew on Amato’s remains. Then several trees had a crescent moon mark on them," Rosina stated and went to a nearby tree and pointed at the mark to prove her point.

"And?" Draco urged her to continue.

"Which means that you used the bodies as a fertilizer for the trees to grow healthier, and these marks were engraved as a sign that they aren’t regular-born trees," Rosina confidently explained. "Am I right?"

Draco laughed loudly and clapped his hands. He was amused and entertained at Rosina’s excellent observation skills. He never expected her to go into the tiny details, such as the markings on the tree branches.

"Yes, you are right," Draco stated and went to the tree that Rosina touched. "This one, I don’t remember who’s body was in this tree, but Amato’s rotten body will become this one, too, in the future."

"I see. At least they have another purpose in life," Rosina stated with a shrug. She didn’t care what Draco did to the dead bodies since it wasn’t her business.

"Aren’t you disgusted, dear Rosina?" Draco stated with his voice changed menacingly. "I murder wolves like they are rats."

Rosina remained silent. She wasn’t scared at the dangerous aura Draco emitted to scare her away. It even made her interested in what other sick and psychotic things he had done. After all, she also had a number of deaths in her own hands.
