Chapter 40: The Light Pink Rose

Rosina and Draco stared at one another inside the carriage returning to their residence. It didn’t take long before both of them burst laughing.

"I didn’t realize you’re good at acting," Draco commented and shook his head. The image of Rosina’s loved face made his heart flutter, but simultaneously, he cringed.

"I could say the same thing to you. If they only knew the real reason behind this marriage," Rosina stated between laughs while drying the tears from her eyes from too much laughter.

"That’s funny, but they gave us their blessing," Draco stated with a smirk and showed Rosina the royal paper that contained the Monarchy’s approval of their wedding.

"Indeed, but your mother was quite skeptical about us," Rosina stated, deep in thought. It was evident that the Queen didn’t like Draco very well. She could somehow take a hint why the Queen questioned Draco’s loyalty since his status as a Lady’s man spread throughout the realm.

"I think you know why," Draco laughed, but his eyes spoke the opposite.

Rosina noticed the change in Draco’s aura but didn’t question further since she understood what it was like to have a bad relationship with the family.

"Now what?" Rosina started and crossed her hands over her chest. She wanted to know what was Draco’s plan after the approval.

"Well, for the marriage. I thought that perhaps we should go with your plan. Get married without an audience," Draco stated while scrubbing his chin. "Also, not to scare away the ladies if our marriage will become popular to gossip by the nobility."

"I could see that," Rosina commented and shook her head. "I really pity your real mate."

"Don’t be, If I did find my real mate. I’ll make sure that she won’t know about my other ladies," Draco winked at Rosina and licked his lips seductively, but all it did was make Rosina grimace.

"Oh wait," Draco exclaimed and pulled the string connected to the bell next to the coachman. Then he opened the tiny rectangular window behind his back. "Sir, can you go first to the royal garden?"

"Yes, Your Highness!" the coachman replied and changed direction.

"I don’t understand the concept of having a carriage inside the palace grounds. We are werewolves. We should use our legs more," Rosina stated and sighed deeply. She has also been itching to shift and run under the moonlight.

Draco’s eyebrow raised, and his eyes directly went to Rosina’s lower half with a smirk.

"My eyes are up here, Prince Draco," Rosina muttered threateningly, but Draco laughed it off.

"Draco, call me Draco," Draco raised his hands in surrender. At the same time, they arrived at their destination.

"You can take a walk in the garden since I’ll be taking a while to come back," Draco stated before hopping out of the carriage and extending his hand for Rosina to take.

Rosina watched Draco’s figure walking away. She paid no mind and stared at the blossoming roses not far from her. There were multiple colors available, but red roses caught her attention more.

"They’re beautiful," Rosina muttered with a soft smile and glazed her hand over the petals. She had liked the red roses not because of their appearance or meaning; instead, it was a similar color to the color of blood.

"Indeed, they are," a voice spoke, and a familiar scent engulfed Rosina’s nose. She turned around and saw Gastone, with his soft smile and golden hair that shined under the sun.

"Your Highness," Rosina curtsied and took a step back to create distance between them. She was surprised that Gastone was a Crown Prince and the heir to the throne, the one who was so lovely to her.

"Lady Rosina, you look radiant today," Gastone greeted with his signature smile.

"Thank you, Your Highness," Rosina replied, and they went into total silence. Somehow, she felt awkward standing next to him.

"I see you have gotten engaged," Gastone commented when he saw Rosina’s rose engagement ring.

"Ah, yes," Rosina answered and lifted her hand while looking at the ring with loving eyes. An act to show that she was in love.

"Maybe I know who’s the lucky gentleman to have taken your hand for marriage?" Gastone asked. He was curious about who had gotten Rosina’s attention since he believed she had no interest in having a mate.

"I am," Draco’s firm voice spoke from Gastone’s behind.

Draco went straight up to Rosina’s side and pulled her waist closer to him. "I’m Lady Rosina’s mate, Gastone."

Gastone and Draco stared at each other’s eyes with pure hatred. An invisible heavy pressure was felt by Rosina; their dominance was radiating so bad that it nearly choked her.

’These two didn’t get along quite well,’ Rosina thought and shifted uncomfortably in her spot. She wanted to get away since she didn’t wish for unnecessary problems.

"Lady Rosina, are you certain about your decision?" Gastone stated and glanced at Rosina. He also knew what kind of man Draco was and didn’t want Rosina to fall into his trap.

"Yes, we had gotten approval from the Monarchy today," Rosina answered softly. Trying to ease the tension between the three of them.

"Do you even know what kind of man you’re marrying into?" Gastone’s voice raised in anger, but it was directed toward Draco, who had a smirk on his face.

"My dear brother, you must calm down and give us your blessing. After all, we’ll be marrying after a month," Draco stated and pulled Rosina closer to him.

Rosina wanted to tear Draco’s hand away from her body, but she tried to act nicely to play her role as a loving mate to Draco.

"A month... Ha!" Gastone chuckled with amusement. He stared at Rosina before plucking a single light pink rose from the bush. "Lady Rosina, accept my humble confession of love."

"Huh?" Rosina tilted her head with confusion but accepted the rose since she couldn’t refuse the Crown Prince himself.

"You two are not yet married, which means any man who fancies you still have a chance to have your hand," Gastone stated with a smirk. His face went back into his innocent form and went away after he gave Draco a death glare.
