Chapter 396: The Transformation

Natan and Vicenzo circled one another while assessing each other’s abilities. The crowd anticipated the battle since Natan was famous as a knight before due to his handsome face.

’The Alpha is strong, but I’ve seen his move. It should be easier,’ Natan thought and looked at Vicenzo’s left side.

Vicenzo always used his right side to defend, attack and escape since it was his dominant side and Natan wanted to take advantage of it.

"Alpha, I just want to ask how long have you been a knight?" Natan asked while taking a few steps to the left.

"A couple months," Vicenzo replied nonchalantly. He was observing Natan’s move and he knew his opponent would be a little bit tricky.

Natan frowned. From what he had heard and announced to the public, their Alpha was a Sabrecrown knight before he became Felissa’s personal knight from the Queen’s command. It was also said that his duty as a knight didn’t even reach a full year.

That knowledge made Natan question Vicenzo’s quality as their Alpha, but based on Vicenzo’s recent fight. He could feel how strong their Alpha was and that made Natan question Vicenzo’s years of experience.

"I see," Natan replied and took a stance to attack. He held the sword in both hands and jumped toward Vicenzo at an overwhelming speed that they couldn’t see his body move and only his aftershadow.

Vicenzo widened his legs apart to increase his base of support. He aimed to defend himself rather than attack at first, but he saw a glimpse of anticipation in Natan’s eyes.

Natan attacked, retreated and attacked in a pattern, which made Vicenzo confused.

’He’s studying me,’ Vicenzo thought while preparing himself for another blow, but this time, Natan attacked on his left side.

Natan had confirmed that Vicenzo stuck to his right side most of the time and decided it was the right moment to use his plan. He rushed in to strike, but quickly shifted his sword blade to the left side. He jumped and swung midair to get the perfect opportunity to prove himself that he was a better knight than Vicenzo since he had been training and on duty for years.

Vicenzo’s smile vanished and was replaced by a smirk. "You are competent, but perhaps a little bit confident. It’s not wrong, but don’t underestimate your opponent," he stated before their blades clashed.

Vicenzo had shifted position and used his left side as his dominant, surprising Natan.

"Sh^t!" Natan cursed and his cold aura vanished. He went into defence mode since he could feel a tingling down his spine and felt that Vicenzo would attack him instead.

But Vicenzo dropped his defence and pierced his sword to the ground. "You did well. Now, you may rest," he stated with a smile.

"Huh?" Natan blinked a couple of times since his mind was so focused on the battle that he forgot about the time.

"Your time is over!" Guff shouted with a laugh and gestured for Natan to come over.

"I—" Natan was not satisfied and wanted to finish their battle. He found it short and incomplete, which made him feel uneasy. Then, his eyes gazed at Luca, who had a smirk on his lips. That made him realized and understand what Luca felt before, although, they had different reasons.

"Thank you for the opportunity, Alpha," Natan stated before leaving. His shoulders were slumped together.

Vicenzo smiled and let Natan go. His gaze went to Elio, who was walking toward him shaking.

"A-alpha, please be gentle with me," Elio whispered and trembled. He looked at Vicenzo with fear and his overall appearance showed how anxious he was.

"Show me what you’ve got, Elio. Don’t hold back even once," Vicenzo stated sternly and prepared himself. He didn’t take a quick break and his stamina was depleting a little bit. He was thankful for his wolf who kept giving him energy to stand still.

"A-alpha, I w-will do my best," Elio answered before positioning himself with his two fists in front of his body.

Vicenzo raised an eyebrow since Elio didn’t get to choose any weapon and used his bare hand instead. He smirked and threw his sword away and copied the same stance as Elio.

"A-alpha, your sword," Elio was surprised that Vicenzo copied him. He didn’t get a weapon to give Vicenzo an upper hand.

"I don’t need that," Vicenzo replied and this time, he was the first one to attack since the change of environment made him excited. It has been a while since he fought without a weapon, especially when he became a knight. When he was a spy before, he mainly used small blades and fists to fight.

Vicenzo aimed for Elio’s torso to knock him out in one punch. He boosted his strength on his arm muscles and punched, but Elio evaded the attack before it hit him.

Elio countered the attack on the other side, which Vicenzo blocked with his arms, but to his surprise, Elio’s strength dominated his.

Vicenzo jumped back and saw his skin reddening from the impact. Instead of backing down, he used that to motivate himself and threw his fists in great strength.

The crowd started cheering at the change of battle. The bare fistfight made a huge impact, especially on the men.

Both men boxed each other without hitting their faces for some reason and all their attacks were on the upper limbs.

Vicenzo tried to push Elio down, but when he came in contact with him. He felt how sturdy Elio’s body was and he couldn’t easily defeat him by strength alone.

"You are strong," Vicenzo stated with a smile. He appreciated the battle between them. He stepped back and shook hands with Elio.

"T-thank you, Alpha," Elio replied with a blush on his face. He liked how Vicenzo complimented him, even though he always thought he was far weaker than the rest of the group.

"But perhaps, be more confident in your own skill," Vicenzo stated and gestured for him to go.

As Elio went back to his seat, the crowd cheered on him.

"And our dear friend becomes popular after 15 minutes," Guff stated and laughed.

"Ah, no no," Elio shook his head in embarrassment. He was fine even if he wasn’t popular as long as he could serve under Vicenzo.

As everyone thought the tests were over. The door opened and revealed Felissa, coming down with a couple shorts and towels in hand.

"As for the second part of the test. We will begin our Wolf test," Vicenzo announced and looked at Guff, gesturing for him to step forward.

"Are we supposed to transform into our wolf form, Alpha?" Guff asked in hesitation. He had never done it before, but he heard and read about it.

"Yes," Vicenzo replied with a kind smile. Since everyone was shocked about the announcement, he decided to set an example.

"This Pack’s strength in defence was still dependent on swords. We have forgotten about our origin and identity. We are Werewolves and inside us live a wolf essence that makes us unique. We must cherish this power to its full capacity!" Vicenzo announced loudly and shifted into his wolf form, shredding his clothes to pieces.

Vicenzo howled to the sky and walked toward the four men. He growled threateningly to show his authority.

Due to Vicenzo’s wolf size, he took most of the space in the area.

"Everyone, please step back a little bit," Felissa stated out of concern. She shifted his eyes to the four men who had hardened facial expressions.

"Please transform all together. Wouldn’t it be beautiful if you shared the pain together?" Felissa stated and urged the men to transform.

Without a word, Elio went on all fours and focused on his inner wolf soul. He had transformed for the first time before, but it was the most painful thing he experienced. He didn’t want to do it again, but he needed to.

Natan and Luca had seen Vicenzo’s transformation, which made it easier for them to follow, unlike Guff.

"What is happening!?" Guff exclaimed in shock and amazement at the same time. He didn’t know about wolf transformation before and had no clue how to do it.

"Connect with your wolf and follow my actions," Luca whispered before his bones dislocated and formed into another structure. "AHHH!" he screamed from the pain that brought terror to Guff.

Guff stared at his wife, Miranda, who had a worried look on her face. The three men before him slowly changed into their wolf form, but he was still human.

Vicenzo slowly walked toward Guff and sniffed him. He let out a low growl to encourage Guff to transform.

"I have dealt with many injuries in the past. I hope this isn’t so bad," Guff whispered and followed Luca’s instructions. He gradually transformed, but his loud cries made the crowd chuckle since they didn’t expect Guff to scream like a child, opposite to his manly features.

"It’s painful for their first time. Be sure to give them a break to recover," Felissa stated and put down the stuff she had brought with her. Her eyes gazed softly at the wolves in front, and sighed in relief. Her thoughts were disrupted by Vicenzo’s wolf sniffing her scent.
