Alpha's Bite Between My Legs
Chapter 388: The Statue

Chapter 388: The Statue

Vicenzo kept his senses alert, which made his strength depleted. He stopped walking and sat on the ground.

"Are you alright, Sir?" Elio asked in concern. They walked on an endless path for two hours, but there was no progress.

"Yes, you should take a rest too. It’s useless to waste more energy into nothingness," Vicenzo sighed deeply. He drank some water and looked around. He concluded they were trapped in a loop since the Labyrinth wasn’t made to go forever.

"Y-yes, Sir," Elio replied and sat next to Vicenzo.

"Tell me when you ran away. How did you manage to go into this place?" Vicenzo asked. He wanted to know if he could get any information to help their current situation.

"Well, I don’t really remember since I just keep on running," Elio frowned and was ashamed that he had become a burden to the Alpha.

"I see," Vicenzo stood up and tightened his bag around his waist. Then he drew out his sword.

"S-sir, what are you doing?" Elio stood up and nervously created a distance between him and Vicenzo.

"Let’s stop playing around. The time is ticking, and I need to return to my mate," Vicenzo stated sternly. His eyes glared toward Elio, but his vision wasn’t focused on him.

"S-sir? I don’t know what you’re talking about," Elio stated with his hands raised in surrender. He didn’t want to fight Vicenzo as his respect for him was vast.

Vicenzo didn’t say a word before sprinting toward Elio’s direction. Elio crossed his arms while accepting his fate, but Vicenzo passed him.

"Run," Vicenzo whispered before kicking Elio away from him. His sword clashed with a figure hiding behind the mists.

Elio looked back and saw Vicenzo fighting with a figure. A chill ran down his spine as he couldn’t figure out what it was. He stood up and ran, but after taking a few steps, he halted.

"No, a real strong wolf, don’t leave a fight and leave their Alpha alone!" Elio exclaimed to himself before he took out his sword and joined the fight.

"What are you doing!?" Vicenzo shouted when he saw Elio dashing toward them.

"I will stay beside you!" Elio replied and aimed his sword at the figure. He swung his sword swiftly, creating a wind current that split the mist. That was when they saw the figure.

It was a statue made of stone and marble. Its structure looked like a male warrior based on its body and clothes. It held a spear with a blade made of metal.

"What is this place!" Vicenzo exclaimed since the statue looked nothing like the Werewolves living in the realm.

"I-I think... we should not be here," Elio whispered upon the realization that they disturbed something that should have been left alone.

Vicenzo gritted his teeth, jumped back and dragged Elio with him. They both watched and observed the unmoving statue. Their wait didn’t take long before the statue’s mouth opened, and a cloud of smoke went out that blended with the mist.

"Cover up!" Vicenzo shouted and used his clothes to cover his nose to prevent himself from inhaling the mist.

Elio followed, but he was able to inhale a small portion. His vision clouded, and Vicenzo’s image was blurry in his eyes.

"S-sir! Don’t le-leave me!" Elio shouted and wiggled his arms around in hopes of grabbing Vicenzo.

"Don’t move on your spot," Vicenzo shouted. He finally understood how the mist works. He could still see Elio, but it was the opposite for him.

Vicenzo glanced back at the statue, and his eyes immediately caught the glint of the spear. He moved his body to the left side and evaded the attack.

The statue moved independently and attacked Vicenzo while ignoring Elio, who was affected.

Vicenzo jumped back and shielded himself when the statue rushed toward him. They came face-to-face while trying to subdue each other.

"What are you?" Vicenzo asked. He didn’t expect an answer, but the statue opened its mouth and replied.

"Do... not... disturb... the... Emperor’s... chamber..." The statue’s voice was rough and sounded like two stones rubbed together.

Vicenzo’s eyes widened, and he used all his strength to push himself away. He couldn’t believe what he had witnessed, and that alone brought a shiver down his spine.

"Emperor? Who is the Emperor?" Vicenzo asked. He had studied the realm’s history before but never read anything related to an Emperor.

"Do... not... disturb... the... Emperor’s... chamber..." The statue repeated those words and started walking toward Vicenzo while dragging the spear behind.

"We are finding the path to leave this place. We won’t disturb the Emperor anymore once we exit," Vicenzo stated sternly. He didn’t want to yield to the statue but couldn’t risk Elio and his life for their pride.

The statue stopped moving briefly before lifting his arms and pointing at the wall. Immediately, the mist vanished into that spot where a path was seen.

Vicenzo slowly approached Elio and grabbed his arm, dragging him. He went to the open path and stared back at the statue. He was amazed at how it responded to him as if it had a mind on its own.

"There are other men in the Labyrinth..." Vicenzo spoke, trying his luck to get everyone out to safety, but the statue didn’t respond.

The mist covered the statue’s body and vanished in thin air.

Vicenzo moved a couple steps in before the wall closed behind them. He breathed in relief, but he became concerned with the other participants. He put Elio against the wall and waited for him to be alright.

"I should warn everyone not to mess with the statues," Vicenzo whispered to himself as he moved back and forth. He tried mind-linking Felissa to relay the information but couldn’t as if an aura was preventing the communication.

It had been fifteen minutes until Elio returned to his senses, and his memory of what had happened was foggy. At those minutes, Vicenzo spent each second thinking of a plan, and he had one in mind.

Vicenzo kept his head down while taking a slow step forward. He traced the path and returned to where he had seen the gigantic bird. He planned to use the creature to draw out the participants and caught their attention.

But it wasn’t an easy plan.

"S-sir, are you sure about this?" Elio asked with fear in his eyes.

"Yes, you can stay here or come with me," Vicenzo whispered while keeping his eyes on the nest. He still wanted to get the egg, but it wasn’t his priority.

"I-I will come with you," Elio replied and stepped forward to be closer to Vicenzo, but in his haste, he stepped on a rock and rolled over it. His buttocks hit the ground.

The creature heard the faint sound and twisted its head in their direction. It flew down and started walking to the source of the sound, but it saw nothing.

On the other hand, Vicenzo was covering Elio’s mouth behind the wall on the other side. He glanced and saw the gigantic bird searching for him.

"Do you trust me?" Vicenzo muttered without a sound, and he made Elio look into his mouth to understand what he was saying.

Elio was confused at first, but he nodded in agreement.

Vicenzo didn’t hesitate to kick Elio outside the wall and got the creature’s attention. It shrieked loudly and flew toward Elio, and attacked him.

"AH!!!" Elio shouted loudly in fear and ran away as fast as he could, but he was no matched by the bird’s gigantic wings.

On the other hand, Vicenzo climbed the nearby wall. He planned to get to the top to get on the bird’s back.

"I’m sorry, Elio," Vicenzo whispered in pity since he sacrificed Elio to achieve his plan. He kept climbing, but it seemed endless no matter how much he tried. He looked down and saw the creature kept chasing Elio.

"Stay alive no matter what!" Vicenzo shouted to give encouragement.

Elio looked up with tears in his eyes. His body had several cuts from evading the bird’s attack. He was hurt that Vicenzo treated him as if he was nothing but a piece of sack. Then, he heard Vicenzo’s motivation and that made him feel important.

"Y-yes, I will!" Elio exclaimed with delight. His eyes twinkled in happiness that Vicenzo cared for him. Instead of running, he stopped and faced the creature, which felt his changing aura. "Let’s do this!" he added.

That time, Elio attacked the creature, who was surprised by his sudden surge of courage.

The bird screeched loudly and flapped its vast wings, creating a strong wind current. The surrounding plants were ripped from their roots, but Elio stood still.

"I... will... survive!" Elio screamed and contracted his leg muscles. He jumped toward the bird and hugged its neck, pushing it downward.

No matter how the creature tried to escape, Elio’s strength dominated.

Vicenzo saw what was happening and took the opportunity. He jumped from the wall and aimed toward the back of the bird.
