Alpha's Bite Between My Legs
Chapter 384: The Golden Egg

Chapter 384: The Golden Egg

Vicenzo gripped his sword tightly while observing his surrounding, but after a few minutes, he stopped and looked back at the participants following behind him.

"Ah, Alpha! Haha!" Guff laughed loudly. He tried not to make the atmosphere awkward.

Vicenzo sighed. "I may have joined the Trial, but I’m not in the contest. Following behind me means you might lose your chance to win. Also, please don’t call me Alpha. I don’t have that title. Call me by my name," he stated and stared at them.

"Uh, but you will still become the Alpha sooner or later," Guff shrugged. He stated the fact, and everyone was thinking the same. They wanted to get into Vicenzo’s good side in hopes it would increase their chances.

"I’m not the one to decide who will win. Following me is useless since I have another plan," Vicenzo stated, stepping to the side and letting the men go through.

"Where are you going, Alpha?" Luca stepped forward and asked confidently.

"Please, call me by my name," Vicenzo stated sternly. He disliked the title since it wasn’t his yet.

"V-Vicenzo, my name is Luca, and I aim to become the Pack’s Beta," Luca introduced himself, and that caused chaos among the other participants who wanted the same position as him.

"You are ambitious, Luca. Well, you should complete the Trial in less than 24 hours," Vicenzo stated and observed Luca’s presence.

The others followed Luca’s move and introduced themselves, hoping that Vicenzo would take notice of them. The voices got louder and disrupted the silence inside the Labyrinth.

"Shh!" Vicenzo hushed them when he felt a vibration from his feet. It was faint, but his senses were sensitive. He tightened his bag and pulled out his sword.

The participants followed, but they hadn’t felt anything wrong until a roar was heard from afar.

"Ah! What a sweet treat!" Guff whispered in excitement and wielded his axe. He wanted to fight a strong opponent to test his strength.

"What a bother," Natan muttered and yawned. He raised his hand to get Vicenzo’s attention. "Umm, can I go forth?" he asked.

Vicenzo glanced at Natan and saw his drowsy face. He nodded in reply, and Natan didn’t waste time before moving forward. He wanted to finish as soon as possible.

"N-no! We should stick together in case a terrible monster attacks us. It’s too dangerous to go alone," Elio shouted in concern.

Natan stopped in his tracks, but he didn’t face them. "Suit yourself," he stated before turning to the other side.

"Alpha! I mean, V-Vicenzo..." Elio looked at Vicenzo for an answer, but he received a sigh.

"As I’ve told you earlier. It’s better if you don’t follow me and go find a route to escape this place," Vicenzo stated and gestured for them to go. He could see the hesitation in several of the participant’s eyes.

But Vicenzo didn’t want to babysit them since that would ruin the purpose of the Trial.

"If that’s what the future Alpha wants. I will follow!" Guff stated loudly and grinned. He walked forward without fear in his eyes.

The remaining participants took a while before they decided to follow, but the first two were nowhere to be seen. After all, there were countless paths ahead of them.

When Vicenzo was alone. He proceeded to walk on the other side. Part of his plan was to slay the creatures staying inside the realm and represent their heads to Felissa as his gift.

"Let’s go find them," Vicenzo stated, bringing out the map from his pocket. He had researched about the Labyrinth in advance and the ancient creatures that might have taken residence inside the forbidden place.

Vicenzo walked and turned a couple of times, but it was hard to compare the map to reality since several paths were blocked by trees and vines. He needed to cut several of them to pass by until he encountered a full-grown, dead tree standing in the way.

"Tsk," Vicenzo flicked his tongue in annoyance and was about to turn when an idea struck his mind. He took out his daggers in both hands and began climbing the tree branch to go to the top for a good look at the area.

"Who even built this place," Vicenzo stated in annoyance. When he reached the top, the walls were still higher, but there were cracks. He used that opportunity to overlook the other side, and what he glimpsed surprised him.

A nest contained a golden egg, which was more significant than a chicken egg.

That alone interested Vicenzo, and he wanted it to be his, but the problem was he needed to go on that side. He hurriedly descended from the tree and encircled his location on the map. He had to make sure he wouldn’t get lost.

As Vicenzo continued his quest. He heard a loud rumbling from the other side, followed by screams.

"It finally started," Vicenzo muttered. He expected a fight, but they had been in the Labyrinth less than an hour ago. His instinct told him to help and save them, but as he was about to step forward, Felissa’s face appeared in his mind. He stopped and clenched his fist tightly before turning around and ignoring the cries for help.

"I wish you all good luck," Vicenzo stated before running away and continuing his plan. He took the opportunity for the participants to attract the attention of the nearby creatures away from him, which meant the nest could be empty.

Vicenzo moved as fast as he could while following the path in mind, but when he turned to another route, he came face to face with a gigantic bird with golden feathers and a huge beak.

"Oh sh^t!" Vicenzo exclaimed and hurriedly hid behind the walls, hoping the creature didn’t notice him. He breathed slowly and covered his mouth to make sure no sound was heard from him.

Until a shadow loomed over Vicenzo’s body, and the bird looked at him straight in the eye when he looked up.
