Alpha's Bite Between My Legs -
Chapter 379: The Touch of a Mate
Chapter 379: The Touch of a Mate
As more groups raced through the river. They became creative with the items they would carry to help them win, but at the same time, violence erupted to the point that they wanted to kill one another at the start.
Several knights were summoned and stopped before it was too late. While the chaos was happening, someone was having a good time.
Along the river where trees stood tall. A woman was hiding behind them while giggling excitedly.
Vanda glanced at the upcoming group of participants. She took something from her bag and threw it toward the river’s edge. A gigantic tree grew, and when the wolves came close, the tree fell down, knocking several participants.
"Hah! This is fun!" Vanda exclaimed. She was thrilled to use all the resources she had experimented with years ago but remained unused.
’Lady Vanda, please don’t be too harsh on them,’ a mind link from Felissa was received into Vanda’s head.
Vanda pouted since it was about to get exciting. She sighed in disappointment and hid the orb that contained a gigantic, ancient shark.
’Yes, Luna,’ Vabda replied, feeling the mind link turned off.
"Well, your dear friend informed me that I should stop being too harsh," Vanda whined and looked in front of her, where a portal was activated.
"Well, she’s no fun," Rosina replied with a shrug. Her head was only in the portal since she didn’t want to exert too much energy teleporting.
Vanda contacted Rosina and showed her the toys she had made before like a child. They were enjoying it so far until Felissa interfered.
"Now, I’ll just use my low-quality toys," Vanda sighed, took out another set of orbs, and randomly threw them into the river.
Unlike the other first batches, it wasn’t dangerous, but it was still irritating.
As Vanda was enjoying herself, and kept rummaging in her bag for more until she felt something cold in her hand. She stopped and looked at it.
"... W-why is it... here," Vanda whispered as her hand trembled. Her breathing became irregular while looking at the necklace in her palm.
"I-I threw it away... why is this... here?" Vanda’s mood was ruined as she deliberately hid the necklace in her pouch. Tears streamed from her eyes as her past flashed back into her mind.
"Ah! I should focus," Vanda wiped away her tears and breathed slowly to regain focus. She began throwing several orbs again and watched the wolves struggle in pain.
"You know I’m still here," Rosina stated, which made Vanda yelp in surprise.
"What the heck!? Why haven’t you left yet!?" Vanda exclaimed with a horrified expression. She thought Rosina had exited after she informed her about Felissa’s mind link.
"I still don’t know who you are, Vanda," Rosina stated thoughtfully. They had known each other for long, but Vanda was still secretive of her past.
"You know my name," Vanda replied, tilting her head in confusion.
"You know what I mean," Rosina squinted her eyes.
"And I think that’s enough knowledge about me. Also, you see nothing," Vanda replied before flicking her finger, and the portal immediately closed.
Vanda sighed in relief and looked at the clear sky, but after a few seconds, the clouds turned grey, and it didn’t take long before the rain started pouring in.
The waves in the river started to get harsher and more prominent, which made it harder for the participants to race.
On the other hand, Felissa was starting to get bored. She covered her hand over her mouth and yawned.
"Luna, would you like to take some rest?" Vinicio asked upon noticing.
"I need to stay here until the Trial is finished," Felissa replied and tried her best to stay awake, but sleep kept pulling her.
"I will take care of everything. Please have some rest," Vincio insisted and stared at Vicenzo. They didn’t speak a word, but they understood one another.
"Luna, let me accompany you," Vicenzo stated, lowering his head.
"Well, maybe I should," Felissa replied before standing up. Several participants looked her way but gave no attention.
Felissa walked toward the trees nearby to get some fresh air when the rain started pouring down. She ran to the nearest tree for shelter but still got wet.
"Luna, please have this," Vicenzo removed his cloak and handed it toward Felissa, but she refused.
"I am alright," Felissa replied with a smile. The rain wasn’t intense, but the wind was terrible.
Vicenzo pursed his lips since he knew Felissa was cold. He didn’t say a word before putting the cloak over her shoulders.
"N-no, I am alright," Felissa stated in panic and was worried she was a burden to her Knight.
"I insist, Luna," Vicenzo stated and stood by her side as they waited for the rain to vanish.
"Then, thank you, Knight Icen," Felissa giggled and looked at the grey sky. "The participants will have a hard time," she muttered.
"I agree, but may I ask why you created a Trial instead of a battle for the positions?" Vicenzo asked in curiosity.
It was common for the Alpha to let mighty wolves fight for the rank to determine their strength and fierceness in battle. The winner would have the position and command the Pack along with the Alpha.
"Because we no longer live in the past where Packs invade other Packs. I do believe we should focus on how to make the Pack strive in resources and livelihood. That’s why I want someone with brains to think of something," Felissa replied with a tight smile.
"I see. I know you will strive, and Midnight Pack will rise," Vicenzo commented in agreement.
"I hope so. This Pack is already in poverty, and managing them from the start is hard, but I should work hard. So when my mate arrives here, I won’t be ashamed of the current state of the Pack he will manage," Felissa stated with a giggle.
"Huh?" Vicenzo was shocked and confused. He thought Felissa hated him and disliked his presence in her life. He never expected that Felissa was working hard for him, and he didn’t like it. After all, he wanted Felissa to have a good and easy life. He didn’t want her to suffer because of him.
"Ah! You must not have known, but yes, I do have a mate. Although we are not yet married, and our relationship is still hidden from the public, some wolves know about it," Felissa stated with a grin.
"I understand, Luna," Vicenzo replied, and his brain was still processing everything when Felissa spoke again.
"You must be surprised, but my mate is a Knight, and he will be an Alpha soon. I don’t want him to suffer from the amount of responsibilities and burdens an Alpha has on their shoulders, especially if they aren’t trained at a young age. That’s why I want to help him start a little bit better before he takes the position," Felissa added and extended her hand, letting the rain drop into her skin.
"You’re a very considerate mate, Luna," Vicenzo stated softly. He viewed Felissa in another light, and he was thankful for everything she had done in secret for him.
"Thank you. I’m amazed that I can talk to you about those things without feeling awkward. You have that aura that I can be just myself," Felissa giggled and glanced at Vicenzo, who was already looking at her.
Vicenzo didn’t know what to say. He stared at Felissa’s face in adoration, and the urge to hug her tight grew. He wanted to tell her it was alright and he would figure it out on his own, but if he told her the truth, he knew Felissa would be disappointed.
Felissa stared at her Knight’s eyes, similar to her mate’s. She unconsciously reached toward his cheeks and pulled him closer to see his eyes better.
"L-luna," Vicenzo whispered in shock since they looked intimate and if anyone saw them, it would be an issue.
Felissa didn’t reply. She felt her body liked the warmth Vicenzo/Icen gave her. The mate bond was working between them and made Vicenzo panic.
"Luna..." Vicenzo muttered and used all his inner strength to pull away from Felissa. He grabbed the black ore in his pocket and ensured the magic still worked.
"You don’t have a scent," Felissa frowned upon noticing.
"Maybe the rain wash it off, Luna. We should find a decent place to take shelter," Vicenzo stated and looked around. He wanted to get away before Felissa would do something related to them being mates.
"Hmm, you’re warm," Felissa whispered and leaned her body toward Vicenzo. She immediately felt comfort, and her body relaxed. Her eyelids started to get heavy as her knees buckled.
"Are you alright?" Vicenzo asked in concern after he caught her in his arms.
"Warm...." Felissa mumbled before sleep consumed her, leaving Vicenzo in hysteria. He carried her and returned to the Pack House using the back door to prevent anyone from seeing them.
