Chapter 375: The Challenges

Chapter 375: The Challenges

Felissa searched her father’s office for unfinished projects in the Pack, as well as the businesses they flunked. She could still remember the knight’s words announcing the crime her family committed.

"Now that I think about it. Where’s my parents residing?" Felissa asked in confusion. She wasn’t informed about them after they left the Palace. "I should ask Rosina in the letter," she added.

A knock on the door disrupted Felissa.

"Come in," Felissa stated and stood straight.

Vicenzo entered the room in his new appearance. He bowed and kept his gaze on the floor. "Luna, I am here to guard you," he informed and was about to go out when Felissa stopped him.

"Knight Icen, would you like to help me hold this candle? I need to search for some stuff," Felissa stated, indicating the candle she was holding to light up the dark room.

"I will set up the lights," Vicenzo stated and was about to light the candles around the room, but Felissa shook her head.

"Don’t bother, I’ll only stay here for a few minutes," Felissa informed and handed Vicenzo the candle.

Vicenzo was flustered when Felissa went closer to him. He could smell her sweet scent, it made him soft and wanted to drop everything and hug her tight.

"Alright, Luna," Vicenzo stated and went closer to where Felissa began her search. He couldn’t help but stare at Felissa’s face as she passionately opened the folders on the shelves.

"Ah, these are the Omegas’ wages for the past years," Felissa exclaimed in delight. She turned around without much thought since her excitement consumed her.

Felissa came face-to-face with Vicenzo. The distance between their faces was an inch apart.

"Kyah!" Felissa exclaimed in shock and stepped back in a hurry, but by doing so, she lost her balance and was about to fall back.

Vicenzo hurriedly wrapped his arms around Felissa’s waist and pulled her up. Their bodies connected to one another and Felissa felt a spark, similar to the one she experienced in the mate bond, but the spark vanished in a second.

"I’m sorry, Knight Icen," Felissa stated and gently pushed herself away. Her cheeks became red from the embarrassment and couldn’t look straight into Vicenzo’s eyes.

"You’re welcome, Luna, and please, call me Icen," Vicenzo stated while stepping back to create a distance between them.

"Ah, alright... I-Icen," Felissa whispered his name shyly.

Even though it was Vicenzo’s nickname for himself as a Knight. He felt good chills running down his spine. He liked how it sounds coming from Felissa’s tongue.

Both Felissa and Vicenzo looked into each other’s eyes silently. The tension between them increased, especially with the darkness surrounding them.

Felissa was confused since she felt the closeness toward Knight Icen, but she barely knew him. On the other hand, Vicenzo fought with himself not to expose his real identity.

As the atmosphere began to suffocate the two. A knock on the door was heard.

"Luna! I bring you dinner!" Vanda’s voice echoed from the outside. She burst the door open and saw the two standing in front of each other. "Oh! Am I disturbing something? Sorry for the intrusion!" she added while slowly closing the door.

"N-no! Please, come inside," Felissa panicked and immediately regained her senses. She excused herself before going toward Vanda.

Vicenzo took the opportunity to breathe and calm down. He turned around and saw Vinicio staring at him with concern.

"I will eat my dinner in my room, let’s go," Felissa stated in a hurry and grabbed Vanda’s arms, pulling her back.

The next day, Felissa groaned in her father’s office. She had read all the files on the shelves and boxes. The problem was greater than she thought, especially since the funds were missing.

"Luna, can I enter?" Vanda’s shouted from outside.

"Yes please," Felissa stated and leaned back against the chair.

The knights opened the door and Vanda immediately ran toward Felissa.

"How are you? Are you alright?" Vanda asked upon seeing the dark bags under Felissa’s eyes.

"Ah! I have trouble sleeping last night, but I am fine," Felissa explained with a sigh. She began looking at the papers again and try to think of a solution.

"Hmm, I think you should slow down a bit. How about we start with the basic parts?" Vanda suggested and that got Felissa’s attention.

"And what is it?" Felissa asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Well, you’re a new Luna. We should find someone to replace the previous position that’s now empty," Vanda whispered and gave out hints.

"You’re right. We need to sort the Pack’s position ranks first. Do you have something to suggest?" Felissa asked before taking the files that contained all the male wolves in the pack.

"We should find someone reliable and loyal to your position. We don’t need a traitor in the group," Vanda explained and leaned forward. "How about we create a challenge like fun games for them? I can help you get all the noble’s names that will participate," she added.

"Hmm, I like that idea, but I want everyone to join. I don’t care if they’re a noble or an ordinary wolf. As long as they’re capable to work in the given position, then it belongs to them," Felissa stated sternly.

Vanda was surprised that Felissa didn’t follow her suggestion but made it her own. She liked it since it showed Felissa was starting to get a grip on her authority.

"Great! Then what kind of challenges should we do?" Vanda asked with a grin. The plan brought a thrill to her spine and made her excited.

"We shall think about that, but we’ll make an announcement first. For sure, those who dislike my leadership will try to infiltrate the court and gain power. I don’t want that to happen," Felissa’s eyes twitched. She knew from the looks some of the pack members gave her was fake, displeased and disgusted by her ruling.

In the days of her parent’s rule. They were strict with her but gave much freedom to the pack members, which lead them to do illegal things. That also made Felissa question what happened to the Pack’s treasury and there was barely a cent left.

"Then, should we make the challenges hard enough?" Vanda whispered and her grin grew wider.

"Yes, also, we should send Her Majesty, Queen Rosina a letter if she agrees with the plans. We need to make it legal to be sure. I hate it if they use the challenges as a hole to bring me down," Felissa stated while gritting her teeth. She had gotten the position through Rosina and she wanted to hold it in her name.

"Of course, Luna," Vanda clasped her hands together and grabbed a clean paper to write the plans they could think about.

In the next two days, Rosina received a letter from Felissa. She thought it contained her hardships for being a current Luna since Felissa basically cleaned all the mess her parents did.

But Rosina was surprised upon reading the letter. She didn’t hesitate to put her seal to make it legal.

"Ah, Felissa, you surprised me every day," Rosina whispered while looking at the clear sky. She began making several letters to the other packs that Felissa would need in her plans.

Rosina was excited to witness how it would go, but she couldn’t since her due was getting closer and she needed more rest. She sent her response and the other letters by the next day, hoping it would turn out well.

When Felissa received the letter, they immediately made an announcement and post those letters to the bulletin for everyone to see, but that was not enough.

Felissa also approved letting the Midnight Pack open for everyone to enter during the days of the challenge. That would boost the economy of the Pack’s businesses and give them increasing income. She also set an entrance fee for both visitors and businessmen and women for additional funds.

"Luna! I am very excited about next week!" Vanda exclaimed while looking at the drawn maps attached to the wall. It would be the challenges the players would do to get the position they wanted.

"Yes, I am as well," Felissa replied, but she didn’t sound joyful.

Vanda looked at Felissa and noticed the nervousness in her aura. She went toward her and stared at the letter on the table. She read it and was surprised.

"Huh, Dra— I mean... The King will come?" Vanda asked upon seeing the King’s seal at the end.

"Yes, I’m surprised too, but I guess it’s better this way. King Draco’s appearance at the event will bring much attention to the pack. We need to use this opportunity very well," Felissa replied while digging her brain into what more she could do to benefit the Pack before the event.

"I never expects you to be good in business," Vanda blinked multiple times to make sure she was seeing the real Felissa and not Felicia.

"Ah! Haha! I just don’t want the other packs to look down on Midnight Pack. Along with that, we need.... money," Felicia sighed and showed Vanda how broke they were.
