Chapter 374: The Accusation
Knight Vinicio knocked on the room where Icen would stay. He took a deep breath and made sure no one else was in sight. The door opened and he came inside silently.
"What do you want?" Icen said the moment he faced Vinicio. He sat on the bed and took out the dye in his bag.
"I’m still against this act. I don’t like how we lie to Lady Felissa," Vinicio pinched the bridge of his nose due to stress.
"You can’t do anything about it," Icen replied and took a wet towel. He put it on his head and scrub his strands until he was satisfied.
At the same time, Vinicio kept looking at him.
After a few minutes, Icen removed the towel and showed his real grey, silvery hair.
"That’s more like you, Sir Vicenzo," Vinicio sighed and sat on the chair.
"Hmm," Vicenzo hummed and looked at the dirt in the towel. After cleaning his scalp, he began applying the new dye to his hair.
"I can’t believe Her Majesty approved of this," Vinicio frowned as he thought Rosina would be against the idea of lying to Felissa since they were close.
"Well, she knew Felissa more than us," Vicenzo replied and fixed his hair in the mirror. He started putting the same dye as his freckles.
"But no secrets will remain hidden. What will you do if she finds out about your real identity?" Vinicio asked with a frown. The more he imagined the scenario happening, the more awful he felt.
"I will think of a solution if that happens. For now, I need to protect her knowing her pack is hiding their real intentions and opinions about her as the new Luna," Vicenzo stated with concern.
It was the very reason why Vicenzo decided to tag along and used his spy skills to blend in with the knights. At first, Rosina disagreed with his plans since it would only result in chaos by the time Felissa knew the truth, but Vicenzo was willing to take the risk just to make sure that his mate was safe from harm.
"I understand your point. I will do the same to be honest, Haha!" Vinicio laughed. He was still mateless but wasn’t in a hurry since he wanted to buy a residence in Sabrecrown first.
"Good," Vicenzo replied with a small smile.
Vinicio stayed in the room and watched Vicenzo prepare himself. Other than Rosina, he was the last one to be told about Vicenzo’s plan. He felt it was absurd, but he went along since the Queen requested him to participate.
At the same time, Vinicio thought if that happened to him. He would lose his mind knowing his mate was in danger.
Evening came and everyone prepared for Felissa’s dinner. The Omegas were cooking when the kitchen door opened, revealing Vanda in her cute pink apron.
"Step aside, I will cook our meal starting today!" Vanda exclaimed and flicked her finger. The knights entered the kitchen and set up their own place.
"What’s the meaning of this?" the Chef asked with rage in his eyes. It hurts his pride knowing he couldn’t cook for the Luna.
"Well, Luna Felissa is a bit picky about food. So we will make her some of the food she likes to eat," Vanda explained and was about to start when the Chef stopped her.
"No, this is my domain. I don’t care if you’re a noble, but the kitchen belongs to a Chef! Me!" the Chef shouted and aggressively pointed at himself. His saliva sprayed toward Vanda’s face.
Vanda closed her eyes and tried to block the liquid particles, but they hit some of her skin. She gagged in disgust and nearly fainted as her system couldn’t handle it.
Vinicio stepped forward and blocked Vanda with his body. "Chef, I would like to ask where’s the food prepared for Luna Felissa?" he asked calmly.
The Chef grumbled and pointed at the cart, which consisted of the dishes they made to be served.
Vicenzo didn’t say a word and opened the platters. Seeing the delicious meals, he squinted his eyes and stared at the Chef. "Can you please taste one of the dishes," he stated with a smile.
"Huh? Why would I do that? I can’t touch the Luna’s meal or it will be ruined!" the Chef argued and step back, crossing his arms.
"This is for inspecting that her food is not... spoiled," Vinicio stated sternly. He was about to say ’poisoned’ but the word was quite heavy.
"Hah!? You’re accusing us of being unprofessional! We will never spoil our Luna’s food even if it kills us!" the Chef shouted and gathered all the kitchen Omegas to support him.
"Then prove it," Vinicio stated sternly and took a plate from the cart. It was the main dish and handed it to the Chef, who avoided it like a plague.
"There’s no need to prove!" the Chef yelled angrily and started mind-linking the Midnight pack guards.
"How do you expect us to serve these dishes to the Luna when the Chef and Omegas won’t even taste them? Isn’t it suspicious?" Vanda stated while rolling her eyes. She was wiping her face clean with a wet towel.
Vinicio looked around and saw two familiar faces. They were the one who gossiped back in the celebration and the ones who stated that their plans had failed.
"Let those two Omegas taste the food," Vinicio stated and used a dominating voice while pointing at the two she-wolves.
The Chef looked back and his eyes widened in shock. He opened his mouth to speak, but he sighed and gestured for the two wolves to go in front.
"You know what to do. Think of this as an honor," the Chef whispered and pushed them forward. "I will let them taste the food, but after this, you better stop making commotions in my kitchen!" he added.
The two she-wolves knew they were about to sacrifice their lives, and that thought made them tremble.
Vinicio already smelled the fear they secreted from their pores and that reaction was enough to convince him that there was something wrong with the food.
One of the Omegas gulped and slowly took the plate. She was about to take a bite when the other she-wolf slapped the plate away, before kneeling on the cold floor.
"Please spare our lives! We are only Omegas that follows orders!" the Omega exclaimed and that cleared the unanswered questions to the accusation.
