Chapter 369: The Internal War
As Felissa was packing her bags, she heard a knock on the door and Vicenzo entered.
"Felissa," Vicenzo smiled while watching his mate pack her bags.
"Ah, Vicenzo," Felissa stopped working and looked at him. She noticed that the door was partially closed. "Is there something wrong?" she asked.
"I want you to meet someone," Vicenzo replied and stepped to the side to give way. That was when a woman entered the room with a gentle smile.
Felissa’s eyes widened and her mouth opened to say something, but she hurriedly stopped.
"This is my mother, Gemma," Vicenzo introduced as Gemma bowed her head.
The room was silent.
Gemma looked at her son before glancing toward Felissa, who was in a state of shock.
"Lady Felissa, it’s nice to meet you finally!" Gemma stated cheerfully. She clasped her hands together and walked closer to Felissa.
"Umm, hello," Felissa whispered and gave a small smile. On her side, she was shy to meet her mate’s mother, but on Felicia’s side, she was baffled to meet Gemma again.
The memories of their meeting came back and Felissa understood why Felicia was shocked to see Gemma.
"You’re so beautiful. I’m glad you’re my son’s mate," Gemma stated cheerfully and held Felissa’s hands together.
Felissa felt the warm touch and didn’t know how to respond. Vicenzo came next to her mother and tapped her shoulder.
"Felissa’s a bit shy," Vicenzo said upon observing Felissa’s reaction.
"I see. I am just glad that you find your true mate," Gemma replied and giggled.
"I am also thankful to finally meet you," Felissa stated with a smile. "Would you like some tea?" she asked to create a conversation.
"But you seemed busy," Gemma glanced at the bags on the side.
"Huh?" Felissa tilted her head in confusion and that was how she remembered that she didn’t tell Vicenzo her plan yet. "Ah, it’s alright. It’s also a good time for us to talk," she added with an awkward laugh.
The three of them settled on the balcony with tea and sweets to eat.
"How’s the meeting with your parents?" Vicenzo asked and took a sip of his tea. He has been curious about what had happened and if they harassed Felissa again.
"Hmm, I will go back to Midnight Pack in two days," Felissa informed, which surprised Vicenzo.
"Why?" Vicenzo asked in concern. He didn’t want Felissa to go there alone since he had the urge to protect her at all costs.
Felissa pursed her lips and sighed deeply. She didn’t want to open the topic since she thought Vicenzo would push himself as the Alpha by marrying him as soon as possible.
"Lady Gemma, do you have something to do here in Sabrecrown? Where will you stay?" Felissa asked, completely avoiding Vicenzo.
"Ah, well, I plan to look around here for a while, before settling down to a good place," Gemma giggled. She loved Sabrecrown and wanted to live there until she dies.
"I see, then perhaps Vicenzo can accompany you for a while," Felissa stated with a grin, which made Vicenzo get more suspicious of her.
"Are you saying that I will leave you alone, again?" Vicenzo’s voice rose since he disliked where the topic would end up.
"I think I should go," Gemma cleared her throat and stood up. "Thank you for the tea, Lady Felissa. Perhaps someday we can have a walk together, but for now, I think you two have something more important to discuss," she added before curtsying and leaving the room.
Vicenzo and Felissa looked at one another in dead silence for the past three minutes. That enough made Vicenzo agitated. He slammed his hands on the table to get Felissa’s attention.
"No, I won’t allow you to go back there alone without me. I have seen what your parents did to you and I don’t want that to happen again," Vicenzo reasoned out, but along with that, he was scared that Felissa would do something that would endanger her life.
Felissa blinked a couple of times. She put down her cup and clasped her hands together. "Why are you acting like that? We are not married, yet, you want to shackle me with your commands," she stated with a frown. She had liked Vicenzo before since he had given her the freedom to do and chose what she liked, but at that moment, he got on her nerves.
"Don’t take this the wrong way, but after you escaped Sabrecrown and decided to go in Mystic pack, which is highly dangerous at that time. I won’t tolerate that anymore and have you risk your life," Vicenzo put pressure into his words to show that he was serious, but Felissa’s expression remained calm.
"You mean the prison?" Felissa smirked and tilted her head to the side.
"Felissa, we only value your safety," Vicenzo took a deep breath to calm himself and leaned back.
"Well, at least do it in a way that I won’t feel shackled by your desires. I have a life outside our relationship and I want you to respect that as I respect yours," Felissa stood up since she didn’t want to get deep into the conversation.
"Don’t forget how you adopted two she-wolves without my knowledge and give more attention to them than your sick mate. I will never forget it, along with that, you have done me so wrong I could have been on my deathbed right now. So don’t tell me what to do or what I decide, Vicenzo," Felissa gritted her teeth as she poured out her emotions.
Felissa fixed her posture and stood up straight before gesturing her hand toward the door. "I will visit the Midnight pack for a few weeks and you will wait for my letter. For the time being, do what you want, but make sure to hide your illegal affairs pretty well, or else, I will throw that ring back into your throat," she stated harshly without a thought if she would hurt Vicenzo’s feelings.
Vicenzo looked down at his lap as he processed all the words Felissa had said. He stood up and smiled at Felissa before walking toward the door, but before he was out, he stated. "I have never left your side when you were unconscious and I apologize if I’m too much. I love you and I don’t want anything bad to happen, but if that’s what you wish. I will respect it."
Once Vicenzo was out of the door, Felissa collapsed on the floor trembling. She stared at her hands and saw them shaking intensely. She had kept a strong attitude in front of Vicenzo, but deep inside she was in pain. She and Felicia had combined their emotions together and she felt like she was not herself.
"I am a different person," Felissa muttered as tears formed in her eyes.
"No, you got stronger," Felicia replied, but Felissa was not listening.
"No! No! You hurt my mate! It’s your fault!" Felissa cried out and scratched herself in an attempt to separate herself from Felicia.
"He deserves it! He killed us!" Felicia shouted with rage, but Felissa was shaking her head in disagreement.
"He killed you! Not me! You’re a beast, a deformed wolf! How can he like someone like you!" Felissa argued and her words made Felicia offended. At that moment, they have an internal war in one body.
Little did they know, Rosina was watching in the gazebo with her warm milk and had witnessed what was happening. "Interesting," she stated and took a sip.
