Chapter 349: The Dungeon’s Punishment

"Ah!" Felicia took deep breaths while leaning down against the tree. In front of her was Paku trying to catch her breath as well. They ran away from the pit as fast as they could when they heard multiple footsteps coming their way.

"Tell me, Felicia. What are you doing in this pack, and what are your intentions?" Paku asked seriously as she crawled toward Felicia. She had shown her card and wanted to know what she could get in return.

"To stop the war from happening. We don’t need more useless deaths on both sides," Felicia replied without hesitation. It was her purpose in the first place.

"Eh! That’s boring and basic. Almost everyone doesn’t want another war to occur after what happened last time," Paku sighed while shaking her head. She indicated the last war that overthrew the Old Monarchs.

"Yes, but if we don’t stop it, there will be more bloodshed," Felicia said and clenched her fist.

Paku frowned and stared at Felicia’s facial expression. "I might be born as an omega, but I can see that there’s more reason for you to go to this length just to stop the war," she stated, rubbing her chin.

Felicia was taken aback by Paku’s words. "Really? I thought I hid it very well, haha," she giggled and decided to tell the truth. "I want Felis— I mean, I want to get married and have a family on my own, living in a peaceful environment," she added with a gentle smile.

"Hmm, reasonable, but I heard King Draco is a powerful wolf. Stories are circulating around that Sabrecrown became a deathbed when he attacked the Palace due to the high amount of casualties. Also, I don’t want to believe it, but they say monsters popped from the ground and wreaked havoc in the city. Aside from that, Queen Rosina is a woman with great dominance," Paku said while remembering all the gossip when the war broke out. She had also seen Caj’s troops go to Sabrecrown to aid the Old Monarchs.

Felicia pursed her lips. She hadn’t seen such terms that Paku described in Felissa’s memories, but she heard those gossip circulating around.

In the last war, most civilians evacuated from the nearby packs and forest when they saw fires, explosions and people running with fear in their eyes. They didn’t fully witness the undead that Rosina summoned as her army.

And those who managed to survive and witnessed it all turned into madness, making it harder for people to believe, especially the distant packs.

That was also the reason why some packs still wanted the Old Monarchs to rule the Werewolf realm since they thought that Rosina and Draco cheated their way to the crown based on their terrible background and image to the nobility.

"And what about it, Paku?" Felicia asked while dusting herself. They were coming back to the pack house.

"All I’m saying is... If the New Monarchs are strong enough, then why are you here to endanger your life? They can go here instead?" Paku asked in curiosity since she couldn’t grasp Felicia’s mindset.

Felicia smiled and patted Paku on the head. "I came here on my own. They don’t need to get involved in my affairs," she stated with a smile and walked ahead.

"Huh? What do you mean? Don’t tell me you’re a— "Paku couldn’t continue her words when they heard a familiar scream.

"KYAHH!!! PAKU!!!" Piku shouted with tears in her eyes. She was dragged by two knights from outside going to the underground dungeon.

"Piku!" Paku yelled and ran as fast as she could. She saw her sister’s face one last time before the door to the dungeon closed. It was located at the back portion of the pack house since the Luna hated it.

"Stop right there!" the knight shouted when Paku tried to enter the dungeon door.

"NO! MY SISTER! PIKU!" Paku cried out in desperation. She wriggled her arms to escape the knight’s grasp, but it was useless.

It was the first time that Felicia saw Paku’s vulnerability. ’Piku is her weakness,’ she thought.

"Can you tell us what’s the reason for this?" Felicia asked and looked the knight straight in the eye, which pissed him off.

"Hah!? You’re just a peasant! You have no right to ask us questions!" the knight shouted, lifting his hand to slap Felicia when someone distracted them.

"Pardon my intrusion. I am Acei, the wolf in charge of the omega’s work position," Acei stated calmly. He stepped closer to them and signalled the knights to unhand Paku.

"Sir, what did my sister do?" Paku asked in frustration.

"Ehh, I believe she didn’t clean Queen Cinzia’s room properly, which is why she deserves ’punishment’ as her lesson to do her work better," Acei replied, giving Paku a thumbs-up before walking past them. His tone emphasized the word ’Punishment’ and sounded as if he meant something else.

Paku was about to argue, but Felicia stopped her by pulling Paku in her arms.

"Felicia! Piku.... Piku!" Paku whispered as her eyes knew what would be Piku’s ending if she wouldn’t be saved.

"Come here. Let’s calm down a bit," Felicia forced a smile and led Paku away from the dungeon door. Her mind was going through a process of thoughts with many unanswered questions. She understood that Cinzia could be a cruel ruler, but killing so many wolves because they failed to do their job properly was too unreasonable.

The other thing was why the Mystic pack was letting it happen. It was their pack members that got killed mercilessly.

"There must be a reason for all these murders," Felicia muttered. Deep inside her gut feeling, she knew it was related to the upcoming war preparations.

"What do you mean? I won’t let them kill my sister!" Paku gritted her teeth and pushed Felicia away.

"If they intent to kill Piku over a simple mistake, why is she taken to the dungeon first when they can execute her anytime?" Felicia thought out loud while ignoring Paku’s rage.
