Chapter 340: The Noble Knight
Felicia went to her room in a hurry and leaned in the door. Her heartbeat was getting wild, and her hands were trembling. She looked at the necklace in her hand and grasped it on her chest.
"I made it," Felicia whispered with a victorious smile. She sighed deeply before frantically putting the necklace inside her underwear for safety. When she knew everything was settled, she left the room as if nothing had happened.
Felicia decided to proceed outside to prevent any suspicion on her part if the news about Rosina’s missing necklace broke out. She knew that the servants would be punished and they would lose their lives at some point, but she didn’t care a bit.
"My Lady, the carriage is ready," Idola greeted with a bow and gestured toward a fancy carriage.
Two carriages were parked outside the Palace, and the other was used to store all their things, but Felicia needed clarification since they could just use a cart instead.
"Why are there two carriages?" Felicia asked with a furrowed eyebrow, but a voice spoke from behind before Idola could reply.
"It will be the carriage that your servant, Idola, will use," Rosina stated as she strutted down the stairs in her robe and a towel wrapped on her hair. "Excuse my appearance since I just got out of my bath," she said with a smile.
"Your Majesty!" Felicia exclaimed, and instantly, panic rose in her system, but she tried to fight it back and act as if everything was normal.
"Lady Felicia, it breaks my heart to see your departure, but I hope this distance will help you sort out whatever issues you have," Rosina stated with a tight smile.
"Thank you, your Majesty. I appreciate this gesture," Felicia replied and curtsied.
Then, Vicenzo appeared from the entrance and in front of him was Draco. Everyone bowed at his presence except Rosina.
Draco said nothing and went beside his mate, grabbing her waist and pulling Rosina close. On the other hand, Vicenzo stared at Felicia with sadness in his eyes.
Felicia pursed her lips, and everyone’s attention went to her, which built pressure on her part. She took a deep breath and started walking toward Vicenzo, and they met halfway.
"I will be back," Felicia whispered and hugged Vicenzo lightly. She did it to show everyone she was still obsessed with her mate and loved him.
"Take care, Felissa. I will wait for you," Vicenzo replied, burying his face into Felicia’s neck, engulfing her scent into his body and brain. He hugged her tight and forced himself to let her go.
"Here, have this. It will protect you when you’re in danger," Vicenzo grabbed Felicia’s hand and inserted a ring into her finger.
"It’s beautiful, thank you," Felicia replied, staring at the ring with a medium-sized green-colored ore.
Vicenzo smiled and took a step back. He had expected more reaction from Felicia, but he shrugged it off.
Felicia turned to the side and faced Rosina, who looked intently at her. "Your Majesty, may I ask why Idola will come with me?" she stated slowly.
"You are a noble-born wolf. I’m sure you need help with the house chores. Idola will be there to assist you," Rosina reasoned with a smile.
Felicia wanted to complain and pushed to leave Idola behind, but when she looked at Draco, whose dominance was radiating too strongly. She kept her mouth shut and nodded in agreement.
"Thank you for your concern," Felicia replied and curtsied at the Monarchs before walking toward her carriage and settling inside. She watched Idola hop into the other carriage as the coachmen took out their whips.
Felicia looked at Rosina and waved at her. Then she waved at Vicenzo, who was looking at her with yearning.
After a few seconds, the carriage moved, and Felicia breathed intensely in relief. She was still tense around Rosina and hoped she wasn’t suspicious of her.
"Oh, my goddess," Felicia leaned back her head and giggled since it was the start of her journey, but then she remembered Idola.
"Now, how do I get rid of her?" Felicia asked herself. She didn’t care about Idola since, for her, she was just a servant that could be replaced anytime.
As time passed, she watched as they left the Palace grounds and to the busy city. She could see the smiles of the wolves walking around and the merchants yelling to attract customers.
It was chaotic, but something caught Felicia’s eyes. It was a couple with their pup in the mother’s arms while the husband carried the basket of vegetables. They had happy smiles on their faces even though they were just ordinary wolves without a title or a rank.
That sight made Felicia wonder what would have happened if she had been born as a normal wolf in the pack without carrying and abiding by the rules of the nobles. She thought about how Felissa was currently struggling with her family’s relationship since her mate was not a noble-born.
"Ah, this is tiring," Felicia muttered lazily.
Felicia closed her eyes and decided to nap before they reached the house where she would be staying. She didn’t know where it was located, but with the pendant in her hand, she was fine with any place.
After a while, Felicia was awoken when the carriage stopped moving.
"Lady, we have arrived!" the coachman yelled.
Felicia looked from the window and saw a beautiful tiny house decorated with vines with yellow flowers.
"Woah," Felicia exclaimed in amazement. The coachman opened the door as she went out and immediately walked straight inside. She wanted to see the interior.
When Felicia turned the knob open, she was greeted by the scent of freshly baked cookies. The house looked small from the outside, but it was pretty spacious inside. There were two rooms on the left side and a single wide-spaced room on the right.
"My Lady," Idola ran toward Felicia’s side to give her the instructions.
"Hmm?" Felicia hummed and stared down at Idola.
"Let me show you your room, My Lady," Idola said, gesturing to the right side.
Felicia followed and was greeted with a room that looked like another house with her own living room and bathroom.
"This looks great. What about the other side?" Felicia asked and turned her head toward Idola.
"It would be my room and your knight’s room, Lord Vinicio Udinesi," Idola explained with her head down.
"Lord? Is he a noble?" Felicia asked in concern. She never thought she had a knight accompanying her in the first place.
Before Idola could answer, a voice spoke from behind.
"Lady Felissa, please allow me to introduce myself," a man stated sternly. He had a stern facial expression, but he was quite handsome. He had chestnut-colored hair and silver eyes.
"Ah, yes," Felicia forced a smile to have a good first impression.
"I am Knight Vinicio Udinesi from the Moonstone pack," Vinicio introduced himself and extended his hand.
"It’s a pleasure meeting you. Are you perhaps a noble?" Felicia asked and side-eyed Idola, who remained silent. She put her hand into Vinicio, and he kissed her knuckles as a greeting.
"Ah... Yes, My Lady," Vinicio replied and took a step back. His face showed that he didn’t want to discuss his identity, but Felicia was curious.
"Tell me your rank, Lord Vinicio," Felicia forced an answer since she wanted to be aware of the people she would need to avoid.
"I- I’m Alpha Udinesi’s third son, but I would like to be called a knight since it’s my profession," Vinicio replied with a tight smile.
"I see. Nice to meet you. Your name rhymes with my mate," Felicia stated with a giggle. It was her way of making things smooth, but Idola and Vinicio remained silent, unable to understand her humor.
"Well then, I would like to take a short rest, Idola and Knight Vinicio," Felicia added before clasping her hand together.
"Yes, my Lady," Idola and Vinicio said in unison as they bowed and left the room to give Felicia some privacy.
Once they were gone, Felicia sighed deeply and crunched her nose as the stress piled up. She wasn’t expecting a higher-ranked noble to become her knight.
Moonstone Pack was in the 8th rank. One rank higher than the Midnight pack.
"Vinicio Udinesi... His name sounds familiar. Well, he’s an Alpha’s son," Felicia shrugged and decided to drop the topic.
But there was more of Vinicio Udinesi’s background and why he was chosen to become Felicia’s knight. He fought countless noble knights and won on the noble side in the contest held to become Rosina’s personal knight, but he lost his fight with Silvio.
After that defeat, Vinicio’s self-esteem and pride were shattered since he lost to a commoner, and he was about to give up when Rosina contacted him to train and continue being a Palace knight.
Vinicio’s skills were excellent, and Rosina trusted him enough to be assigned as Felissa’s temporary personal knight since she knew her friend was planning something behind her back.
And Rosina knew that Vinicio could do the job competently if Felicia would put herself in danger.
