Chapter 293: The Personal Knight
Chapter 293: The Personal Knight
Rosina stood by the door while caressing her belly. It had grown more prominent and was harder to hide, but she had no plans to announce her pregnancy to the public until the Monarch’s problems were over.
The sound of the door opening caught Rosina’s attention. Felissa peeked out and slowly went outside, drenched in water. Only a towel was wrapped around her body.
"You should get dressed. I prepared a nightgown for you," Rosina stated, pointing at the bed where a clean dress was placed.
"Thank you," Felissa whispered before walking toward the bed and dropping the wet towel on the floor, leaving her body naked for Rosina to see.
Rosina’s breath hitched upon seeing Felissa’s skin, but she controlled herself and watched Felissa put on the clothes.
"Felissa, tell me what happened?" Rosina asked to gather a bit of information from her.
"Ah... I’m not quite sure," Felissa whispered, facing Rosina with her head lowered.
"You can tell me. I will try to help you," Rosina stated, grabbing Felissa’s hand and reassuring her.
"I... I really don’t know, Rosina. I plan to ask you to set the lady free, but I snapped and don’t remember what happened. The next thing I know, I’m coated with blood, and the lady’s stomach was ripped open," Felissa explained and couldn’t help but shed tears.
"You don’t know how it happens?" Rosina asked further, but Felissa shook her head.
"Yes, I’m sorry. I don’t mean to kill her," Felissa apologized and knelt on the floor. She felt guilty that she had killed a human being in Rosina’s territory and might have caused her problems.
Rosina furrowed her eyebrows. She had killed wolves more than she could count throughout her years, and she knew the aura and expression of those who hadn’t killed a life before.
For Felissa, Rosina noticed that her facial expression and gestures were from someone who had taken a life before.
"It’s alright. I’ll dispose of the body," Rosina stated with a tight smile. She didn’t realize that Felissa was doing something like that, but she couldn’t ask a question about it.
"Ah! Thank you! I’m sorry!" Felissa stated in relief that she wouldn’t have to think about burying the body herself, but she felt even more remorseful that Rosina was cleaning up her mess.
"It’s alright. I’m the one who brought you there, so rest assured. You must be tired. Please rest," Rosina smiled and rubbed Felissa’s cheeks before stepping away.
"Yes, Rosina. Thank you for everything. I owe you big time," Felissa stated cheerfully. She waved goodbye before slumping onto the bed. Her smile vanished.
"What am I going to do now?" Felissa whispered and rubbed her forehead. She was stressing out after what had happened. She didn’t expect her other self to show around Rosina and did things that should have been private.
Felissa also thought about her family. They were expecting her to arrive the next day and bring good news about her marriage, but she couldn’t face them yet.
"I’m really... a disappointment," Felissa whispered before wrapping herself with a blanket and sleep consumed her.
The following day, a knock woke Felissa. She sat up and rubbed her eyes. "Come in," she stated.
Idola entered the room with a cart that contained her breakfast. "Good morning, my Lady. How are you?" she asked.
"Ah, Idola! I’m good. Nice to see you again," Felissa chirped and went out to bed when she saw another figure entering the room.
It was Vicenzo.
"Kyah!" Felissa squeaked in surprise and hurriedly covered herself.
Vicenzo hastily turned around and coughed. "I apologize for my behavior, my Lady," he stated.
"Umm, do you have any business with me, Sir Vicenzo?" Felissa asked awkwardly. She tried shifting her attention to Idola, who was taking out the food, but she couldn’t help but stare at Vicenzo’s back.
"Her Majesty, the Queen, stationed me to become your personal knight," Vicenzo explained while keeping his back to Felissa.
"Huh?" Felissa couldn’t believe what she had just heard. Her heart started beating so fast, thinking that Vicenzo would always be beside her. That made a red blush appear on her cheeks.
"My Lady, are you alright? You look flustered," Idola asked innocently. She was worried that Felissa was sick.
"Ah! I’m alright. I’m just hungry," Felissa replied and stood up from the bed. She put on a robe to cover her skin and walked toward Vicenzo.
"Sir Vicenzo, face me," Felissa commanded softly.
Vicenzo was quite hesitant, but he followed. When he saw that Felissa was entirely cloth, he sighed in relief.
"I’m grateful for your service, Sir Vicenzo. I hope we get along just fine," Felissa stated firmly, trying to show that she wasn’t affected by his arrival.
"Yes, Lady Felissa. I will protect you with all my life," Vicenzo stated and knelt on the floor with his hand placed over his chest to show sincerity.
Felissa tried not to giggle and show how excited she was. She gave a gentle smile that she always practiced and curtsied before Vicenzo.
"Thank you, Sir Vicenzo," Felissa stated and placed her hand in front of Vicenzo’s face.
Vicenzo was surprised at stared at Felissa’s hand for a second before knowing what to do. He took Felissa’s hand and kissed her knuckle.
Felissa breathed out when their skin touched. She could feel his warmth and a slight tingle, but it wasn’t enough to be called a mate spark.
"My Lady," Vicenzo stated and looked up at Felissa. His eyes held so many words that he couldn’t say.
Both of them stared at one another for long that Idola was staring at them in curiosity. It had been a minute, and they were not bulging at their spot.
"Ehem," Idols hummed, and that distracted Felissa and Vicenzo. They both became awkward and turned back at one another.
"What is it, Idola?" Felissa asked and walked toward the table to avoid confrontation from Vicenzo. She wanted to bonk herself for falling into his deep, green eyes.
"I’ll be outside, Lady Felissa," Vicenzo stated with a bow before leaving the room in a hurry.
