Chapter 273: The Meeting of An Old Friend
Felissa smiled and waved Fina goodbye as she went away.
"Umm, Lady Felissa, I’ll take care of your baggage," Idola said while dragging a big suitcase containing Felissa’s belongings.
"Thank you," Felissa replied and opened the door using the key that Fina gave her.
The room looked simple but elegant in its white and gold colors.
"It’s beautiful, but I wonder why the room was on the first floor...." Felissa muttered to herself, but Idola answered the question for her.
"Umm, the Queen hates the stairs so much. So she wants to put your room on the first floor to make it easier for you," Idola explained shyly while taking out Felissa’s dresses and hanging them in the drawer.
"I see. How about the other nobles?" Felissa asked out of curiosity at how Rosina fixed the rooms.
"Oh, the rooms are all made the same. There is no assigned room for nobles and peasants, my Lady. You are the only one with a specific room. The rest are first come, first serve," Idola stated with a giggle.
"Really? I guess some nobles didn’t like that idea," Felissa commented and sat on the bed and caressed the soft mattress.
"Oh yes, my Lady. There are several complaints since they don’t want to mingle with commoners, but rules are rules," Idola stated with a grin. She remembered how one noble lady was screaming her lungs out to throw the commoner she-wolves next to her room, but her request was denied.
"That’s why there are several knights around," Felissa stated after seeing several female knights standing on the corners with stoic expressions.
"I know, right? It’s cool for the Queen to allow females to become knights! Nobody had done it for years!" Idola exclaimed, and Felissa could see in her eyes how she was amazed by Rosina’s doings.
Deep inside, Felissa felt proud of the massive progress on Rosina’s side. She thought Rosina was only a timid and nice girl when she met her.
Felissa didn’t expect that Rosina would be part of something big.
"Yes, she is cool," Felissa replied and lay on the bed to relax since her body was aching from the travel.
"My Lady, I will leave you to rest. If you need me, please rub this stone, and I’ll be right here as soon as possible!" Idola chirped and handed a pink stone attached to a gold bracelet.
"Oh, how will you know?" Felissa asked in confusion, but her question was answered when Idola showed the similar bracelet on her wrist.
"Lady, there’s a dinner party hosted by the Monarchs around 6:00 PM. Everyone is invited to attend since the Monarch will be around to greet the guests," Idola informed before bowing. "I’ll be taking my leave, my Lady," she added before getting out of the door.
"Thank you, Idola," Felissa smiled softly and waved Idola goodbye. She didn’t have the strength to stand up and start preparing.
"I’m jealous. When will I get that freedom to do what I want?" Felissa muttered as a single tear escaped her eyes. She gritted her teeth and covered her face with a pillow while she screamed her lungs out.
Later that day, at 6:00 PM came in.
The venue was inside the Palace ballroom, which was renovated to have a bigger space. Everyone was having fun with someone they knew while enjoying the food served on the side for them to choose from.
Felissa entered with a beating heart. She looked around, hoping she met someone she was familiar with, but all she saw were unknown faces and several nobles she didn’t get along with.
"Lady Felissa, please come with me," Fina said softly. She gestured her head to follow her.
Felissa was taken to another room, and Rosina was waiting for her when the door opened.
"Felissa!" Rosina exclaimed and rushed toward Felissa, hugging her tightly. "I miss you, she added.
Felissa opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. She hugged Rosina back and cried in her arms. All the longing she felt burst at that moment, and she couldn’t hold it in.
Fina went out of the room with a delightful smile to give them privacy.
"Hush, hush. I’m here now. It’s been a while since we last met," Rosina whispered while caressing Felissa’s hair to comfort her. She felt like Felissa was carrying heavy baggage inside her heart and had difficulty releasing it.
But Rosina wouldn’t interfere with Felissa since she wanted her to figure it out alone.
"Rosina... huhuhu. I miss you!" Felissa cried out and wiped her tears away, smudging her makeup.
"I know, and I’m here now," Rosina replied and slightly pushed Felissa away to see her face.
Felissa pursed her lips and nodded her head. "Thank you," she said while shaking her head.
Rosina led Felissa onto the sofa and grasped her hand. "So tell me. How have you been?" she asked with a smile.
"Ah, same as usual. I’m studying to become a Luna in my pack, but my parents keep on pressuring me about finding a husband," Felissa complained with a pout.
"Well, my rules stated that you can only marry your true mate. Political marriages are banned under my watch," Rosina stated firmly with a hardened expression. She got a hint that Felissa’s parents were urging her to find someone that suited their taste even if it was not Felissa’s true mate.
"But what if I don’t find my true mate?" Felissa asked with a worried voice. She pulled her hand away from Rosina and fidgeted with her clothes. "My father won’t last long. His health is declining, and I need to find someone capable of replacing him before he dies," she added.
"Hmm. I understand, but are you willing to sacrifice your own happiness because of that? You can always search for your mate next year if you don’t find him this time. In the end, it is worth it all," Rosina argued since she didn’t want Felissa to enter a miserable life just to feed into what her parents wanted.
"Yeah, but what will I do if my father dies? There’s no one to lead the pack!" Felissa exclaimed in frustration and grasped her hair.
"Huh? Aren’t you their daughter? Then lead the pack," Rosina smirked and put her hand into Felissa’s cheeks, pulling her close as she looked into her eyes.
