Chapter 272: The Butterfly’s Death

Chapter 272: The Butterfly’s Death

Felissa looked at herself in the mirror and gazing her appearance.

"You look beautiful, My Lady," the servant complimented and clasped her hand together.

"Ah! Thank you!" Felissa grinned and caressed her lips, which had red lipstick.

"It’s time," Renata’s voice was heard by the door. She had a serious expression, which made Felissa shiver.

"Mother," Felissa stated and looked down.

Renata walked inside and gestured for the servant to get out. She stood before Felissa and looked at her appearance to see if it had passed her taste.

"Remember to find a decent noble. It would be better if he is rich," Renata reminded her daughter of her duty.

"Mother, what if my true mate is not a nobleman?" Felissa asked slowly. It took her a lot of courage to say those words.

"You ungrateful child! No! I will reject him for your sake!" Renata shouted and raised her hand to slap Felissa, but a cough stopped her.

"Don’t raise your hand on Felissa," Aroldo glared at his wife before hugging Felissa rightly.

"Father," Felissa grasped her father’s clothes. She could feel Aroldo’s heartbeat slowing down, a sign that he wouldn’t last long.

"Take care out there. I’m sure the Queen would look out for you," Aroldo whispered and kissed Felissa on her forehead.

"Tsk! I can’t believe that a low-class wolf became Queen," Renata commented and rolled her eyes. She didn’t like Rosina since she belonged to a 12th-rank pack.

Felissa gritted her teeth. She didn’t want her mother to bad mouth Rosina, but she couldn’t say those words.

"Well, you shall go now, or you’ll be late," Aroldo stated and ushered Felissa to walk with him to save her from Renata’s mouthing.

"Father, I can go on my own. You should rest," Felissa stated, concerned about her father’s health.

"Nope, I’m fine," Aroldo replied and glanced back at Renata, following them behind. He knew his wife was strict about the future Alpha to save the pack from its depths.

"Okay, father," Felissa replied, entered the carriage, and waved goodbye to his parents. "I’m off. Please take care while I’m away," she added with a wide smile.

"Be safe," Aroldo waved and nudged his wife to do the same since she was being grumpy for not able to lecture Felissa one last time.

Felissa smiled before settling down on the sofa and looked straight ahead when the carriage started walking.

A white butterfly entered the carriage through the open window and landed on Felissa’s knees. The sight made her smile, but it vanished after a few seconds.

"You look so carefree flying in this big world," Felissa stated and fisted her hands. She wondered how it felt to be free and do what you wanted, like the butterfly, which made her jealous.

Felissa gritted her teeth and immediately crushed the butterfly with her fist before it could fly away, causing her dress to smudge with the butterfly’s blood.

"Ah, now it’s dirty," Felissa grumbled and tried wiping the stain, but no matter how many times she tried to clean it off. It wasn’t effective, and the stain spread on the fabric.

"Tsk," Felissa flicked her tongue in annoyance. Her face crumbled into disgust and grimace as her day was ruined. She wiped her hand with a napkin and threw it on the side. She looked out the window and felt no remorse for what she had done.

Felissa felt good that she had prevented an insect from getting its freedom back. Deep inside her, she wanted to gain independence, but at the same time, she wanted everyone to feel how miserable she was for getting locked up.

After a while, Felissa arrived in the Sabrecrown pack and saw many carriages waiting in line and other peasants walking toward the gate in their fancy clothes.

The sun was still shining in the sky, but the traffic was already long.

"I wonder if that man will come to this event," Felissa whispered and wondered to the green-haired man she had met. Her wolf smirked at her and wagged its tail in excitement.

Felissa gasped in surprise at her wolf’s reaction. It was the first time that had happened, and she was confused about why. She shrugged it off and deemed it as a tease from her wolf.

"Ah, I never felt this excited before. How will I know that person is my mate? I wish he’ll tell me sooner," Felissa stated and dreamed about meeting the love of her life and accepting her for what she was. She imagined having pups and a happy family.

An hour passed, and Felissa’s carriage finally entered the Palace gate. She gasped at how the place changed drastically, and the design was thrilling, but she didn’t like the dark colors and creepy status.

The carriage parked in the place and the coachmen were given a choice of staying in the specific building to wait for three days or returning to their individual packs. Although, they were not allowed to participate in the event.

When Felissa went down, a familiar servant approached her.

"Good day, Lady Felissa Nucci. I am Fina, the Queen’s personal made. I’m here to assist you to your room," Fina stated, and at her back was another servant assigned to help Felissa during her stay.

Felissa’s eyes widened in gratefulness that Rosina could remember her after not communicating for months. She followed Fina into a new building massive red-colored building that looked like a mansion.

"Woah, it’s so big," Felissa gasped with her mouth open while looking around.

"The Queen made this building to occupy all ladies attending the event. The gentlemen will be on the other side," Fina exclaimed gently. She remembered Felissa back in the last Mating Event but didn’t dare bring it up.

"Oh, so we’re separated?" Felissa asked and tilted her head.

"Yes, the Queen didn’t want unnecessary things to happen under her watch," Fina answered, and they arrived on the first floor of her assigned room.

"Lady Felissa, I will leave you here with Idola, your servant for this event," Fina stated and introduced a shy, little omega at the back.
