Chapter 266: The Denial
Chapter 266: The Denial
The day turned night, and the moon shone brightly in the sky. Everyone was outside the Palace to witness the truth, while Rosina remained inside and watched through the window.
"Your Majesty, do you want me to reheat your milk?" Fina asked softly while looking at the untouched milk she had brought earlier. She knew fresh milk was Rosina’s favorite drink, and she always finished them. Seeing that she didn’t take notice of it showed she was concerned about the issue even though she wasn’t showing it.
"No need. Thank you for your service, Fina. I thought you would quit being a servant after all you have been through," Rosina faced Fina with a smile.
"I thought about it, Your Majesty, but I can’t run away forever. Also, I need the salary to sustain my brother’s needs," Fina replied shyly and scratched the back of her head.
"Haha! I understand," Rosina replied with a chuckle. She was amused at how honest Fina was about her financial needs, unlike others.
"Your Majesty, umm. I want to ask something if it’s fine with you," Fina whispered and fidgeted with her clothes.
"What is it? You can ask me anything," Rosina replied while looking outside the window where the Theta was already performing the blood work.
"Umm, what will you do if the baby belongs to King Draco?" Fina asked softly. She wanted to know Rosina’s side and decision since she would also be affected. After all, she was Rosina’s servant.
Rosina was taken aback by Fina’s question. She didn’t think about her next move for a while since, deep inside, she was hoping that everything would come into place.
"To be honest, I don’t know," Rosina replied and lowered her gaze.
"Your Majesty, whatever your decision. I want to stick with you until the end!" Fina exclaimed with determination.
"You don’t have to, Fina. I want you to live your life to the fullest here," Rosina shook her head. She didn’t want to affect Fina’s life, whatever she decided to do.
"No, Your Majesty. You’re the reason why my brother is alive and with me. I owe it to you. Please, let me follow you till the end," Fina placed her hand on her chest to show her sincerity. She was determined to bind her life to Rosina.
Rosina smiled. She felt good seeing someone loyal to her, but before she could answer. A scream was heard outside.
"Huh?" Rosina looked and saw Trice jumping for joy, celebrating her victory, while Draco had a foul and disgusted facial expression.
"Hmm, I see. Looks like her plan succeeded," Rosina said lowly before removing the rose pin on her head since it was a bit uncomfortable.
Fina immediately went to the window and realized what the result was. "The baby belongs to the King!" she exclaimed.
"Fina, let me ask you. If you’re in my situation. What will you do?" Rosina asked. Her eyes lost their color while looking at herself in the mirror.
"I won’t let that b^tch get what she wants. I will stay here and take the crown. Then, I’ll make sure to keep them at their place!" Fina replied with hatred. "Then maybe, I can find a way to keep them away from the hierarchy for the throne," she added.
"Then what Cinzia did will repeat," Rosina replied and looked at her hands. She remembered that they used to be coated in blood and liked it, but now, she felt tired. "I don’t want to live in blood and drama. I’ve always wanted a peaceful life," she added in a whisper.
"Your Majesty..." Fina couldn’t help but cry. She ran and knelt behind Rosina. "I apologize for what I said. It’s rude of me! She exclaimed.
"No, don’t worry about it," Rosina sighed deeply and looked at the shining moon in the sky. She connected to her wolf, she thought there would be an adverse and painful reaction, but to her surprise, her wolf was calm.
Rosina’s wolf shined and curled itself for comfort.
"Ah, what should I do now?" Rosina muttered and rubbed her belly under the thick fabric.
"Your Majesty, I will follow you everywhere you decide to go!" Fina exclaimed while keeping her head low.
"Then, pack your bags and go to your house. Fetch your brother," Rosina replied and glanced at Fina. She crouched down and lifted Fina’s face, wiping her tears. "We have to go somewhere," she added.
Fina abruptly nodded before scurrying away to follow Rosina’s instructions. At the same time, Draco entered the door and was confused about why Fina was running away.
"My love, the result—" Draco couldn’t continue his words when Rosina spoke.
"I know, you don’t have to tell me," Rosina replied, keeping her back facing Draco.
"I’m sorry. I really am," Draco whispered, and his body lost strength. He fell to his knees, and tears streamed down his face. "I’m sorry, Rosina. Please forgive me," he cried out.
Rosina closed her eyes to keep herself calm, but the tears managed to escape her eyes. "You don’t have to be sorry, Draco. We both did stup1d things back then, but we changed," she said.
"You’re not going to leave me, are you?" Draco whispered desperately. He clearly remembered what Rosina stated back in the ceremony.
Rosina looked back and showed Draco her pain. "Draco, you and I had a terrible past, which caught up with our future. You have a child with your own blood. The pup I’m carrying might not be yours. This scenario will only bring us chaos and problems. Our pups will fight for the crown, and blood will splatter again in this realm," Rosina explained with a tired face. She didn’t hide her tears anymore.
"What do you mean with all these words?" Draco whispered with his eyes widened in the realization of what Rosina meant, but he didn’t want to admit it immediately.
Draco was in denial and ignored the meaning behind Rosina’s words. He wanted her to be by his side no matter what.
