Chapter 256: The Promise

Chapter 256: The Promise

Draco fluttered his eyes, and he was back in the very same room in the Palecrest house, but he was not alone.

"I’m back," Draco roamed his eyes around and tried to adjust since he had no candle with him.

"What do you mean by that?" Rosina asked, creating a black flame in her palm to lighten the place.

Before them was Rosina’s younger version in chains. She was wearing a tattered black dress, but what caught Draco’s attention was Rosina’s bulging belly.

"You’re... pregnant," Draco whispered in shock. He didn’t expect Rosina to have a history of pregnancy.

"Yes, and the father is Perise," Rosina replied and sighed deeply. It was hard to look at herself, especially the dead, hopeless eyes she had before.

The door opened, and Cleto entered with his belt.

"Ah, it amuses me how you run away and come back with a baby. A b^tch will always be a b^tch," Cleto harshly said, flicking the belt toward Rosina.

"AH! NO!" Rosina, her younger self, cried out and curled into a tiny ball to protect her stomach.

Draco gritted his teeth. He wanted to prevent Cleto, but he couldn’t since it was only a memory.

"Cleto beat me every day like this, but today, he was in a bad mood, and he planned to vent out his anger to me," Rosina informed and watched herself getting kicked in the stomach.

"AH! STOP!" Rosina’s younger version screamed in pain, and she started bleeding. She tried to protect her baby but couldn’t escape Cleto’s attacks.

"Hah! A b^tch like you deserves this!" Cleto screamed and kicked her daughter one last time in the head, which caused her to lose consciousness.

Cleto spat at Rosina before leaving the room.

"Your father is terrible," Draco commented with so much hatred.

"I don’t want to think of him as my father. No one will do that to their daughters," Rosina replied and crouched down with a flat expression. She was looking at the blood flowing on the floor.

Rosina closed her eyes and unlit the flames. She didn’t want Draco to see what had happened after that since it was too gruesome. She flicked her finger, and they teleported into a new memory.

That time, they were looking at a girl running in the forest, holding a bloodied bundle of cloth and a small bag on her back.

Draco looked at Rosina since the memory had skipped multiple events, but he didn’t ask why.

"Wahhh!" the girl cried out while running until she stumbled on a rock, causing her to fall to the ground. The one she was holding rolled in front of Draco.

Draco’s eyes shook. He crouched down to uncover the cloth and see what was inside.

"Oh, goddess," Draco gasped when he saw the bloodied and deformed unborn fetus.

On the other hand, Rosina looked at the fetus with an unmoving expression. Before, she didn’t want to see the sight of it since it wrecked her brains out, but now, she felt refreshed.

"My baby!!!" the girl screamed and hurriedly grabbed the fetus, cradling it softly. "Why is this happening to me? What have I done?" she cried out.

Draco felt his chest pained from what he was seeing. He looked up and saw Rosina’s hardened expression. "Are you okay?" he asked.

Rosina nodded without a word.

They watched as the girl dug into the ground to bury her baby. The scene wasn’t finished when Rosina flicked her finger again, fast-forwarding the memory.

They were now in a different modern place, utterly different to the Werewolf realm.

"Where are we?" Draco asked in confusion while looking around.

"This is a human realm. Cleto sent me here, away from the pack, since I brought them nothing but disgrace," Rosina replied and pointed at the girl sewing a fabric.

"You look different," Draco commented, looking at Rosina’s version.

"It’s been years by then. I was living a good life in the human realm," Rosina replied with a small smile. She remembered the days she spent with the humans and how easily she could kill them.

"Rosina, I’m glad you are doing well in the human realm, but you didn’t tell or show me why you became a demon," Draco stated and stared at Rosina’s glowing eyes. He was waiting for that answer and realized Rosina had skipped a portion of her past.

Rosina chuckled softly. She wanted to avoid showing the memory to Draco since it involved a supernatural thing that shouldn’t exist in the Werewolf realm.

Draco saw the hesitation in Rosina’s eyes, and it hurt him knowing she didn’t fully trust him, but he kept it shut. He didn’t want to force Rosina into something she wasn’t comfortable with.

"It’s alright. You don’t have to show me," Draco stated and forced a gentle smile to avoid pressuring Rosina.

Rosina sighed. She looked at her demon body with a heavy heart. "Promise me one thing, Draco. Keep this a secret no matter what you see in this memory," she stated firmly.

"You have my word, Rosina. I promise," Draco stated with a nod.

Rosina smiled and went closer to Draco. She put her hands behind Draco’s neck and tugged him into a kiss when a bright light blinded him for a few seconds.

When Draco opened his eyes. He was back in the dark forest, but Rosina wasn’t with him when he looked around.

"Rosina?" Draco hollered, but no one answered.

"He-help me..." a tiny voice echoed in the forest area, and Draco immediately followed the source. After a few steps, he saw Rosina’s younger version crawling on the ground with dirt all over her body.

"This is what happened after she buried her child?" Draco muttered while observing the girl.

"Help, please..." Rosina whispered while losing all her energy, and her consciousness slipped in and out.

Rosina knew it was her time. She had a strong will to live, but when she lost her child, whom she hated the most. She became more hopeless than she used to be.
