Chapter 247: The Meeting of Spark
Chapter 247: The Meeting of Spark
"Crown Prince, you must not be here," the knight stated with worry. The active knights around went beside Gastone to protect him in case he was attacked.
"I need to see my people who survive. Many of our kind have been killed already," Gastone stated firmly. His face was stoic and emotionless. He looked around to see the faces of those who survived.
"Your Highness, we would like to request a better place to rest. We had it rough back in the city," the nobleman stated softly to convince Gastone.
"The inner Palace grounds will be off-limits since we don’t know who is the mastermind of this attack. We don’t want to risk anything. The reason why all those who came from the city will be placed outside," Gastone reasoned nonchalantly.
Rosina nodded since it was a good plan on Gastone’s side. After all, if they allowed the survivors inside the Palace, she would open the portal inside and make it easy to concur the Sabrecrown pack.
The nobles who were complaining became silent and stepped back. They couldn’t do anything since it was from Gastone. They hurriedly chose a better tent to live in temporarily, or they wouldn’t get anything.
"Did you see Draco among the invaders?" Gastone whispered to a knight who partook in the city’s battle.
"No, Your Highness," the knight shook his head. "We only saw undead-looking wolves and knights holding a sword killing the innocents," he added while remembering what he had seen.
"There must be someone controlling them. We should find the master of this chaos," Gastone stated firmly, and the knights nodded in agreement.
"Your Highness!" a woman yelled and knelt on the ground with tears in her eyes.
"Miss, stay put," the knight stated when the woman was about to grab Gastone’s legs.
"My husband! I saw my husband get killed right in front of my eyes!!!!" the woman cried out, getting everyone’s attention.
"Almost everyone is dead. Luckily, we survived," a noblewoman on the sideline rolled her eyes. Her family was with her, and she didn’t feel the sentiment of losing someone important.
"NO!!!" the woman screamed while shaking her head aggressively. She had heard what the noblewoman stated.
"Please, calm down," Gastone stated softly and tried to be patient in hard times.
"Your Highness! My husband turned into those creatures! His body moved like a dead person and tried to kill me!!!" She informed while crying heavily and clenching her chest from the pain she felt.
"What did you say?" Gastone knelt down since that information got him interested. "Are you saying that those who died turned into—"
"Yes! I saw it with my own eyes! Believe me, Your Highness!" she cried and held into Gastone’s arms. "Please! Help my husband return to me!" she added.
Gastone’s face hardened when he knew the truth. He stood up and dusted himself, ignoring the woman’s tears.
"So, those creatures are our pack members. They were slaughtered and reborn as a monster to attack their own pack. Whoever did this is truly evil!" Gastone exclaimed with rage. He couldn’t imagine how it felt to see someone you used to love ready to kill you.
Rosina held her mouth tight. She wanted to laugh so much, but she couldn’t risk them identifying her identity. She bit her fingers to stop herself, but it was too late.
"HAHAHAHA!" Rosina burst into a peal of loud laughter while clutching her stomach. She was entertained by what Gastone remarked.
All the wolves around looked at her with disbelief since she was able to laugh at their current situation.
Gastone looked at her with distaste but chose to ignore her. Thinking she lost her mind from trauma.
"Your Highness, why do you think that master of this chaos is evil?" Rosina asked loudly, making sure everyone would hear her voice.
"That’s a nonsense question. Our pack members became monsters ready to kill their own families without mercy. That enough is a cruel act! Heartless!" Gastone replied. Somehow, he was pissed by Rosina’s question.
"But, Your Highness, doesn’t the Queen keep killing the concubines and royal children for you? A family killing their own bloodline. Does that mean your mother is also a monster?" Rosina asked in a teasing tone. What she said caused the nobles to gossip about the topic.
It was a piece of old news about the possibility that the Queen was doing an underhand job of killing those who threatened Gastone’s crown, but all the murders were deemed as ’accidents’.
Nobody had evidence that it was the Queen’s doing, but if someone had one. They were hunted until their body rotted to the ground.
"NONSENSE! THE QUEEN IS NOT LIKE THAT! SHE IS KIND AND THOUGHTFUL! A ROLE MODEL TO THIS REALM!" Gastone shouted. His anger slipped for a second before he calmed down. He didn’t like how Rosina quickly concluded a statement about his mother.
"Ah, sure. Then, where is your brother? Prince Draco?" Rosina asked and crossed her legs in amusement. She liked where the conversation was going.
Gastone opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out. Everyone thought Draco was dead when he attacked the 13th pack, but deep inside, he was still hoping he was alive.
Since Gastone wanted to kill Draco with his own hands.
"Your expression showed your true intentions, Your Highness," Rosina growled when she got a hint of what was on Gastone’s mind. His murderous intent was seeping out of his pores, and she detected them.
"Silence! Seize her!" Gastone shouted and pointed a finger at Rosina. The knights immediately grabbed Rosina’s arms and dragged her toward Gastone, who was beaming with rage.
Gastone gazed at Rosina’s blooded body before he took the towel that covered her face. The moment his hand contacted Rosina’s skin. He immediately felt the sparks trailing in his veins.
"You..." Gastone gasped when the towel was removed.
"Did you miss me, Your Highness?" Rosina asked with a grin.
The knights recognized her face and immediately removed their hands from her but stayed by her side.
"Rosina, why are you here!?" Gastone exclaimed and glanced around at the nobles that kept gossiping.
