Chapter 234: The Sky’s Too Clear
Draco was about to enter the dungeon when Rosina appeared, surprising him.
"Rosina! You’re here!" Draco exclaimed and peeked at her back. He was confused about why Rosina was there when he thought she was with Biagio.
"Yes, I am," Rosina smiled innocently before standing beside him. "What are you going to do?" she asked and leaned forward.
"I’m going to ask the prisoners what happened that day," Draco replied, indicating Cleto’s escape.
"I don’t think it’s necessary to know since he’s already gone. We should focus on our next move," Rosina stated and grabbed Draco’s hands and placed them on her cheeks, seducing him.
"Alright, if you say so," Draco replied with a chuckle and pinched Rosina’s cheeks slightly. "You’re so cute," he added.
Rosina grinned before hugging Draco. Both of them remained silent and cherished the moment.
Draco furrowed his eyebrows in curiosity. He was delighted that Rosina became clingy and warmed up to him, but the change was too sudden, which made him became suspicious.
"Rosina, I have a question," Draco stated, pushing Rosina slightly to look at her face. He placed his hand on her waist and led her outside to stroll.
"What is it?" Rosina asked, but she had so many guesses in her head and prepared answers.
"Hmm, why did you change so suddenly? I mean, you used to push me away every time you had a chance," Draco pursed his lips since he was embarrassed to ask that question and didn’t want Rosina to think he didn’t like it.
Rosina stopped walking and was about to answer, but Draco spoke.
"No, I like the way you are right now. I don’t mean it negatively," Draco stated with panic, which made Rosina laugh in amusement.
"Life is unpredictable, and so am I. I just was to cherish the moments in my life since I don’t know what will happen next," Rosina replied and sat on the grass, looking at the other pack members doing their own tasks.
"I see," Draco followed her and looked at the clear sky. The wind was cool, and the sun wasn’t hot, making it perfect weather.
"The path connecting the 13th and 12th pack is finally done. We can travel back and forth with ease now," Draco informed with satisfaction, but when he looked at Rosina, he saw her troubled face. "What’s the matter?" he asked.
Rosina shook her head and forced a smile. "Nothing. I’m just happy the path is finished," she said.
"No, we have been together for so long that I kinda get a grip of your facial expressions, whether they’re fake or real," Draco stated and leaned closer to Rosina’s face. "And right now, you are showing me a fake expression," he added earnestly.
"Haha! That’s amusing," Rosina laughed while shaking her head. She couldn’t believe Draco was that observant of her.
"Tell me, Rosina," Draco pressed further. He wanted to help with whatever she was worried about.
"Hmm," Rosina hummed with a deep sigh. "You know about the Blood Moon, right?" she asked.
"Ah, the Blood Moon, yes. I read about them in books back in the Palace library," Draco answered and thought about it. "Apparently, it’s been more than a hundred years since the Blood Moon once appeared in the sky," he added.
"Yes, but do you wonder what will happen if it coats the sky red again?" Rosina asked and looked at the bright sky.
Draco furrowed his eyebrows since the topic was out of nowhere. "Is this something you worry about? I believe the Blood Moon won’t come any time soon," he said with a shrug.
"What if it will? You know what will happen when it does, right?" Rosina asked firmly. She was serious with her question, yet, Draco was chill about it.
"Well, the books say that werewolves would be out of control and that even the leaders can’t do anything. Everyone would be feral and wild," Draco replied, scratching his chin in deep thought.
"Yes," Rosina sighed and rubbed her face. She had been stressing about it, and each hour was like a time bomb.
Draco could sense Rosina’s worry. He pulled her closer and put his chin over her head.
"Don’t worry too much. Blood Moon only comes if something unusual exists inside the realm. That’s what the book says, but I’m not sure if it’s the truth. People tend to write anything," Draco stated with a shrug, hoping it would lessen Rosina’s worries.
"I see," Rosina nodded and leaned on Draco’s chest for him not to see her facial expressions.
"Why did you think about it, though? It’s a very uncommon topic to talk about," Draco asked. Deep inside, he was still bothered by the topic and wanted to know more.
"Ah, well..." Rosina paused since she was thinking of any reason to cover the truth. "Um, we’re on a war, right. It’s an unusual event. So I thought if a Blood Moon occurs, it will be bad timing for us," she stated and cleared her throat.
"If it did happen, we must focus on ourselves to be safe. The Palace won’t do anything as well since they will prioritize themselves too," Draco replied. He knew the Monarchs would do anything for their safety, even if there needed to be sacrificed.
"But what if they will use that against us? They can put their troops on us before the Blood Moon occurs and when the time happens. Their werewolves will be more aggressive," Rosina replied and looked up to see Draco’s face.
"And so will we, but don’t fret too much about the Blood Moon. The sky is too clear for that to happen," Draco replied with a smile and patted Rosina’s head.
"Draco, if it did occur. I want you to be safe as much as possible. I want you to prioritize yourself no matter what," Rosina stated firmly. Her voice sounded clear and needed no argument.
Draco nodded his head, but deep inside, Rosina was his priority.
