Chapter 211: The Egg Soup
Rosina groaned as she flickered her eyes open, but she closed them since the light made her sensitive.
"Rosina! You’re finally awake!" a voice shouted beside her.
Rosina rolled to the other side to avoid the noise, but they shook her body. "What the—"she irritably stated and was about to curse when she saw Draco’s smile of relief.
"Rosina, you’re finally awake!" Draco sighed deeply before hugging her tightly. He tried his best not to cry in front of her and show his vulnerability.
Rosina pushed him away with a look of confusion. She looked at her surroundings and noticed that she was in the Palecrest medical room, which could have been better.
"Why am I here?" Rosina asked in confusion. The last thing she remembered was that she was in the Sabrecrown pack and was running away from the knights, creating a portal. After that scene, everything was blurry. The next thing she knew, she was back in the Palecrest pack.
"The warrior wolves were rounding around the pack when they saw you laying on the grass, pooling in your own blood," Draco pursed his lips as he explained, but he left a single detail.
The place where Rosina was found was the area where she had jumped to escape her father’s prison room.
"Rosina, tell me. What happens to you? You have wounds and bruises on your body and a knight’s sword—" Draco wasn’t able to continue his question when Rosina raised her hands to signal him to stop talking.
Rosina opened her mouth to speak when the door burst open and Silvio, along with Natale entered the room with concern laced on their faces.
"Rosina!" Natale exclaimed and ran toward her daughter. She hugged her lightly since she didn’t want to add pressure to Rosina’s wounded body. "How are you feeling?" she asked.
"I’m fine," Rosina replied and tried to move her shoulder to see that it wasn’t that painful anymore.
"Your Highness," Silvio stated firmly and bowed down.
The atmosphere between Silvio and Rosina was awkward, and it was evident.
Silvio remembered the day Rosina kissed him, and seeing her again made him blush.
"Sir Silvio, how are you?" Rosina asked gently and tried to lift the mood.
"I am fine, Your Highness. I’m currently your mother’s personal guard," Silvio stated and kept his head on the ground.
Draco glanced at Silvio and toward Rosina with a curious look. He felt that something had happened between the two, but he didn’t want to ask since he knew it would hurt his feelings.
"Well, you should rest for now. I’ll make you an egg soup," Natale stated and caressed Rosina’s cheeks before she went away in a hurry to make a meal.
Silvio bowed at Rosina and Draco before following Natale behind.
"What happened when I was gone?" Rosina asked and focused her attention back on Draco.
Draco pursed his lips into a thin line. He looked down for a second and gathered enough strength to tell Rosina all the details she had missed.
"Okay, I’ll tell you everything," Draco stated, and it took him a couple of minutes before he was able to finish the story.
"And that’s all. We are about to attack the 11th pack today, but you arrive. We need to take care of you first," Draco said, touching Rosina’s strands. Even though their plan was postponed, he was okay with it as long as Rosina was prioritized.
Rosina didn’t say a word and looked outside the window, noticing it was nighttime. Deep inside, she felt a bit guilty for destroying their plan, but she was glad she had arrived at that time.
"Don’t postpone," Rosina stated and looked back at Draco.
"What?" Draco asked with a raised eyebrow, but he didn’t have to think what was on Rosina’s head. He stood up and glared at her.
"No, Rosina. I know what you are thinking. You are still healing, and fighting another pack will do nothing but harm to your body!" Draco sighed with frustration as he brushed his hair to the side.
Rosina tilted her head. "Did I say I will go?" she giggled and ignored the death glares sent her way.
"Huh?" Draco was confused all of a sudden.
"I don’t want you and the others to hinder the plan because of me. I could stay here and rest while you go and kill more lives," Rosina said before making herself comfortable on the bed.
"Make sure to come back in victory," Rosina added and smiled at Draco for reassurance.
Draco looked at her for a few seconds since he didn’t believe Rosina’s words completely, but attacking at that time would be the best option available.
"Alright, I’ll go and inform the pack. Your mother will be coming with us as a decoy, but I’ll ensure she will be safe," Draco stated firmly. He was hesitant to bring Natale to the war, but she forced herself to come, so he agreed in the end.
"Alright," Rosina nodded in agreement. She closed her eyes and took a rest.
Draco looked at Rosina’s sleeping form when Natale and Silvio arrived, pushing a cart with a warm meal and water.
"She fell back asleep?" Natale whispered and looked at her daughter.
Draco nodded and helped Natale place the cart on the side for Rosina to grab the food quickly.
"We will proceed with our plan. The Thetas will assist Rosina while we are gone. She wants us to win and gain another victory. I won’t let her get disappointed," Draco stated lowly but full of determination.
"Yes, Your Highness!" Silvio bowed. He felt proud that he was one of Draco’s men.
Natale nodded her head before glancing at Rosina. She knew the danger she would encounter during the meeting with the 11th pack’s Alpha, but she wanted to be useful even for a little while.
"Let’s go," Draco gestured for them to follow him, but before that, he went back and kissed Rosina on the forehead to recharge his lost energy before leaving.
