Chapter 197: The Escape at Ten
Chapter 197: The Escape at Ten
Draco watched as Cleto started beating Rosina with a belt that had metal holes.
Rosina didn’t make any sound of pain or ask Cleto to stop. She was only lying on the ground and taking all the beating with tired, lifeless eyes.
"Rosina, how long have you been in this situation?" Draco whispered as he fell to the ground. His heart broke every time the belt hit Rosina’s skin, creating another set of bruises and cuts.
Draco didn’t know how long has it’s been since the start of the beating, but his eyes didn’t leave Rosina’s figure. All the sounds surrounding him were silenced. He felt the time go slow.
"Rosina, how did you end up this way," Draco whispered as his body slumped. He lost the energy to stand up after witnessing the parental abuse that happened to his mate.
Draco’s anger toward Cleto increased because he wanted him to feel what it was like to get beaten and couldn’t defend himself.
"Ah, that’s enough for today," Cleto stated while breathing heavily. He wiped the sweat from his forehead before going outside. He pushed Natale away when she tried to enter the room.
"You’re not allowed to touch her!" Cleto growled and locked the door closed, leaving Rosina blooded.
The room went dark again, only Draco’s candle lit up the room, but he was the only one who could see it while in Rosina’s eyes. It was all darkness.
Draco walked toward Rosina and looked at her form. Her clothes were tattered and barely covered her skin.
"How old are you?" Draco whispered and looked at Rosina’s small frame. She barely had meat on her bones, and her skin copied how her bones looked like. He couldn’t help but think about what was going on in Rosina’s mind every time his father beat her.
"I’m sorry," Draco couldn’t help but apologize. He felt the need to do so even if he wasn’t involved in Rosina’s past.
Draco lay on the floor, facing Rosina. He placed the light above so he could see her face.
"You’re still beautiful," Draco muttered with a smile as he touched Rosina’s knotted fiery hair. "If only I can save you in this hell hole of a place," he stated and watched his hand go through Rosina’s body.
Draco sighed deeply as his eyes stared at the silver handcuffs that were burning Rosina’s skin. Unconsciously, he reached out, thinking his spirit would go past through, but to his surprise. He felt the sting upon touching the metal.
"Huh!?" Draco exclaimed in shock. He sat up and looked at his hand, that hand a slight red mark from the burn. "Vanda, are you there?" he called out, but there was no response.
Draco sighed deeply to prepare himself, touched the silver metal with his entire hand, and felt the sting on his skin.
"I can touch it!" Draco muttered in disbelief. His hands trembled, and an idea appeared in his mind. He didn’t know the reason why he could touch the handcuffs, but he could help Rosina that way.
Draco prepared himself and stretched his arms. Instead, he planned to cut the chains, but he didn’t want Rosina to suffer from the burn through the remaining handcuffs.
"I will help you, Rosina. Just wait," Draco whispered and extended his sharp claws. He went and tried to touch his claws against Rosina’s skin to see if it would feel, but it went through.
"Nice," Draco sighed in relief that he wouldn’t be able to hurt Rosina no matter what tactic he used. He raised his hand and used a lot of his force to cut the handcuffs in half.
"Ah!" Rosina yelped in surprise when the handcuffs got broken in her wrists. She sat up and watched how the metal broke in her ankles.
"There you go," Draco smiled happily that he was able to lessen Rosina’s pain. He went to look at the window’s location and walked toward it. He touched wood, but his hand went through.
"Sh^t!" Draco cursed and looked back at Rosina, seeing her caressing the burnt skin. "I won’t let you stay here for long," he muttered and saw the metal attached in the middle.
Draco prepared himself and used his claws to destroy the metal. In doing so, he created a noise, which he was also surprised by. It wasn’t loud, but enough to gather Rosina’s attention.
"Alright," Draco continued using her claws and when there were enough marks on the metal. He used his foot to kick the metal away. This made the wood attached to the metal fall to the ground, creating an opening for Rosina’s escape.
The moonlight shined brightly on that night.
"Rosina," Draco looked back and saw Rosina strolling toward him. Her eyes were gazing at the moon.
"It’s beautiful," Rosina whispered. Her voice was hoarse from the lack of water, but it sounded sweet in Draco’s ears.
Draco couldn’t help but smile. Tears threatened to escape his eyes upon seeing the new wounds on her face. He reached his hand and was about to touch Rosina’s cheeks when she turned to the side and looked up.
Their eyes met.
Rosina smiled at him. She looked ethereal and carefree at that moment.
"Thank you."
Draco’s eyes widened upon hearing those words from Rosina. He was about to ask if she could see him, but Rosina’s body fell to the ground.
"Rosina!" Draco shouted and didn’t hesitate to jump after her, but instead of the ground. A white light engulfed his body before he could reach Rosina’s hand.
"NO!!!" Draco screamed, and the light blinded him. His spirit was swallowed back into his reality while leaving Rosina’s body on the ground with broken bones from the impact.
Rosina pushed herself to stand up even if her body was screaming in pain.
"I hope we will meet again, stranger," Rosina whispered while gazing at the moon before she started running to the forest.
And that’s how Rosina escaped from the hands of his father’s abuse at ten years old.
